*Godly exercise part 6*

*Text*: 1 Tim 4:7-8
_”But reject profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise yourself toward godliness. For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.”_

The benefits of godly exercise transcend this life. In as much as it helps you to discern between good and evil and helps you to build spiritual stamina, it guarantees you the promise of eternal life. It takes godly exercise to obtain the crown of life. Apostle Paul said, _”I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing_ .”(2 Tim 4:7-8).

The Christian walk has been likened to a long distance race, a marathon of some sort. Many loose their first love or zeal in the course of the journey. Many turn back at the sight of trials and temptation and thereby loose their rewards and crowns. But in order to obtain your reward, you must have an endurance which takes you to the finishing line. It is good to start the Christian race well, but it is much better to finish strong. This is one of the benefits of godly exercise. Remember Jesus said, _”But he who endures to the end shall be saved.”_ (Mat 24:13)

There is an end to work towards. There is a reward to be received at the end of our lives sojourn. Jesus Christ is waiting at the finishing line to welcome us with open arms saying, ” _Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’’_ ( Mat 25:23). The only surety that you will cross over to the other side is by exercising yourself towards godliness. If you don’t want to gas out in this journey, build up your spiritual muscles now. There is no better time to pray than now. There is no better time to study God’s word than now. The end is here and the Master is coming. Soon and very soon, we are going to see the King.

Shalom* !

[7/15, 10:10 AM] Pastor Emmanuel Oshevire: Don’t believe the enemy’s lies

Wednesday 15th July 2020

‘When he lies, he speaks his native language.’ John 8:44 NIV

Jesus said of Satan, ‘When he lies, he speaks his native language’ (John 8:44 NIV). And he lies to us in three ways: (1) Doubts. His strategy is to discourage you, to make you throw up your hands and say, ‘What’s the use? Nothing has changed!’ When you say that, you’re signing the receipt and accepting the package. Don’t do it! The Bible says, ‘You are trapped by your own words’ (Proverbs 6:2 CEV). What you say forms your perspective and creates the environment you live in. Never say anything that leads Satan to think he’s winning. (2) Shock. If you’re not expecting Satan’s attack, you’ll get alarmed and think, ‘I must not be making progress. Why else would I still be fighting the same old battles?’ Why? Because Satan doesn’t give up without a fight, and his attack is proof you haven’t been conquered. (3) Feelings. Satan will try to convince you that you don’t deserve to be forgiven. He’ll tell you that because you don’tfeel forgiven, you’re not. But remember, he’s a liar.

Here’s where victory is decided. Stand your ground. The work has already been done in you. God’s Word says so; now you must begin to say so too. Time will strengthen and solidify your position. Satan will bring to your mind all the things God has delivered you from, and in dealing with them you’ll experience some of the emotions you had when you went through them. His strategy is to make you feel like nothing has changed. Don’t buy it! Jesus said, ‘If you hold to my teaching…you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free’ (John 8:31-32 NIV).

[7/15, 10:10 AM] Pastor Emmanuel Oshevire: MESSAGE FROM:

*Rev. Anthony Akinmoyo,*
Lifeway Christian Centre,

Life is primarily spiritual, therefore, living must also be spiritual. Living all your life or conducting all your activities in the realm of the natural is contrary to your nature. The book of *John 4: 24* tells us that God is a Spirit and in *Gen 1: 26,*
God ” the Spirit” says let us make man in our own image and likeness. You and I were created in the image and likeness of God who is a Spirit and Father of spirits. Therefore, we are spirit beings. We must be conscious of our real identity.

Hebrews 12:9 (KJV) *”…shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?”*

Galatians 5:25 (KJV) *If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.*

Prayer is our participation in the affairs of the spirit, it is our presence in the panel of destiny. It is a meeting place between God and man, the visible and invisible. Our heavenly father has issued an open invitation to all His children to participate in the affairs of the spirit. It is an eternal privilege and opportunity for man to discuss and jointly make decisions with God, the maker of the universe.

Therefore, I consider prayer as the greatest asset in the hand of every believer.
Beloved, everything you see taking place in the physical realm are as a result of the activities in the realm of the spirit. Nobody is born to be barren, sick, poor or frustrated, all these are the result of the transactions in the spirit. Nothing just happens in the natural realm without a supernatural force behind it. Job’s account gives us better understanding of this mystery.

Job 1:6-8 (KJV) *Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.*
*And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.*
*And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?*

Job was eating and drinking meanwhile, there was a negotiation on his destiny in the realm of the spirit. Therefore, invitation to prayer is an invitation to decision making that gives birth to a life of victory and success. It is time we launch ourselves into this divine opportunity salvation has offered us and continue to enjoy daily victory unto eternity.

[7/15, 12:35 PM] Pastor Emmanuel Oshevire: Today’s SOD – 2020-07-15

SCRIPTURE: Teach me thy way,”O Lord; I will walk in thy truth”: unite my heart to fear thy name. Psalm 86:11

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: When you are dedicated to God,”your heart is not divided but united in the pursuit of God.

It has been established that understanding is key to outstanding performance in any endeavour. When you understand why you should do something, doing it becomes easy.

In the same manner, knowing the purpose of dedication will greatly enhance the lifestyle of dedication to God. One of the reasons for dedication is that man was created by God and for God (Revelation 4″:11). If we know that we did not create ourselves and that we are not meant to live for ourselves,”then dedication becomes easy.

Now, having seen the reason for our dedication to God, what, then does it mean to be dedicated to God?

Dedication to God implies a whole-hearted pursuit of God. It is a heart that is united in the pursuit of God. One may ask, “Why a united heart?” It is because one’s heart can be divided. This is why Psalm 86″:11 says,”Teach me thy way, O Lord; I will walk in thy truth”: unite my heart to fear thy name.

So,”when you are dedicated to God, your heart is not divided but united in the pursuit of God. Dedication to God is not having a heart that follows the world in one part and follows God in another. It is not having a heart whose part follows the devil and another part follows God. It is not having a heart with a cocktail of worldly and heavenly inclinations. Rather, dedication is having a united heart, a heart united in the pursuit of God. It is allowing every department of your heart to be united in the pursuit of God.  It is not a heart that is divided or distracted by several activities, fantasies and fallacies of this world. It is having a heart that beats and pants after the Presence of God like the heart of David who said, As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God”: when shall I come and appear before God?”(Psalm 42:1-2).

Beloved,”refuse for your heart to be divided in the pursuit of God. Pursue God with focus and unity of heart. This is what it means to be dedicated to God. And that is what brings distractions in time and eternity.

Remember this”: When you are dedicated to God,”your heart is not divided but united in the pursuit of God.

1. Go through today’s message again.

2. Refuse a distracted heart; focus in the pursuit of God.

2. Maintain a united heart in the pursuit of God always.

PRAYER: Lord,”I ask that You deliver me from every distraction of life. Help me to maintain a united focus and heart in pursuing You, Lord in Jesus’ Name.

QUOTE: The State of your heart and the state of your life matters to God. Culled from “WHO ARE YOU?” by Dr Paul Enenche.
