[11/22, 5:10 AM] Pastor Emmanuel Oshevire: *LIFE AND FAVOUR*

*Rev. Anthony Akinmoyo,*
Lifeway Christian Centre,

Psalms 132:1-5 (KJV)
[1] *LORD, remember David, and all his afflictions:*
[2] *How he sware unto the LORD, and vowed unto the mighty God of Jacob;*
[3] *Surely I will not come into the tabernacle of my house, nor go up into my bed;*
[4] *I will not give sleep to mine eyes, or slumber to mine eyelids,*
[5] *Until I find out a place for the LORD, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob.*

Your prayer of intercession for the growth and advancement of the kingdom of God is a service unto the Lord that will be a memorial unto you. That is, it will continue to speak for you unto eternity. This is one of the few things that will journey with us to the other side of eternity.

Therefore, arise and pray for today’s service.

[11/22, 5:10 AM] Pastor Emmanuel Oshevire: Healthy self-focus (1)

Sunday 22nd November 2020

‘Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith.’ 2 Corinthians13:5 NIV

Self-focus isn’t necessarily bad if it leads to spiritual growth. However, some people mistakenly assume that it’s a biblical mandate! After all, didn’t God tell us to ‘examine ourselves’? So with that in mind we start to wonder – ‘Do I measure up spiritually? Have I truly repented? Do I pray enough? Is God pleased with me?’ The truth is, focusing on yourself can keep you feeling discouraged and defeated.

Let’s check and see what God actually says about self-focus. There are only two mentions of self-examination in Scripture, and neither teaches us to indulge in self-focus. First, Paul challenged the Corinthians about tolerating gross sin in their church. A man was having an affair with his stepmother and no one seemed bothered by it. And because they had ‘not repented of the impurity, sexual sin and debauchery in which they…indulged’ (2 Corinthians 12:21 NIV), Paul wrote, ‘Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith’ This isn’t an invitation to self-focus, but a spiritual credential check-up. ‘See whether you are in the faith’ (2 Corinthians 13:5 NIV).Second, Paul corrected the Corinthians’behaviour during the Lord’s Supper. Because some were getting drunk on communion wine, he said, ‘Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup’ (1 Corinthians 11:28 NIV). Paul’s not suggesting you become fixated on your flaws, but on the liberating truth that Jesus paid the price for all your sin – past, present and future.

In the Bible it says, ‘Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith’ (Hebrews 12:2 NIV). Growth, joy and victory lie in abandoning unhealthy self-focus and staying Christ-focused!

*# Benefits of speaking in Tongues #*

1. Secret prayer language:

Rom 8:26, _”Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”_
(1 Corinth 14:2, Eph 6:18, Jude vs 20)

2. Self edification:

Jude vs 20, _”But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.”_
(1 Corinth 14:4)

3. Sign to unbelievers:

1 Corinth 14:22, “_Therefore tongues are for a sign, not to those who believe but to unbelievers; but prophesying is not for unbelievers but for those who believe.”_

4. Springs of living water:

John 4:13-14, _”Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”_
(Is 30:15, John 7:38)

5. Singing and Glorifying God:

Acts 10:45-46, _”And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God.”_
(John 16:16, 1 Corinth 14:15, 16-17)

6. Sensitivity to the leading of the Spirit:

Rom 8:14, _”For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”_
(John 14:16-17, 16:13)

7. Spiritual weapon:

Eph 6:18, _”praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.”_
(2 Corinth 10:4-6, Eph 6:10-17)

[11/22, 5:12 AM] Pastor Emmanuel Oshevire: WISDOM FOR THE DAY
Sunday, 22nd November, 2020

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue; and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof”.
Proverbs 18:21 (KJV)

The bible says in the book of John 6:63: “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life” (KJV)
That is why we can make declarations and it will happen because they are the words of the Almighty. We have come into the days of God’s power. It is not about jumping up and down. When you know the power, you carry you are relaxed. You don’t go to bed wondering whether you will sleep or not. You will just go to bed and sleep because when that demon comes around, he will say no, not this one.

Our text tells us that you will eat the fruit of your lips. But the type of fruit you eat depends on what you speak. If you speak death filled words, then don’t expect anything to work. But if your words are filled with life, your words are filled with blessings and the declarations of God’s goodness and favour, then that’s what you will possess. Make up your mind to speak only your expectations according to His word.
Speak what He has said concerning you. Proverbs 12:14 tells us that “A man will be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth.” (KJV) In other words you can tell what you are speaking by what is manifesting in your life.

You activate the blessings by your confession. Blessings are deployed by words. The Bible tell us that: And God blessed them, and God said…”(Genesis 1:28 KJV). Even when Isaac blessed his sons, he spoke the blessing. Therefore, in order for you to walk in the blessing, you must open your mouth and speak it into manifestation. Don’t go about parroting what the devil is doing, or the challenges you are currently faced with.

[11/22, 5:13 AM] Pastor Emmanuel Oshevire: *Seeds 🍇🍑🌽🍊🍌🍒Of Destiny*
_21 November 2020_
_Daily Devotional by Dr_ _Pastor Paul Enenche_

🗣️Where there is no vision, there can be no meaningful action.

*SCRIPTURE* 📖: And the Lord said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward: For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed forever. Genesis 13:14-15.

*THOUGHT FOR THE DAY* 🤔: Where there is no vision, there can be no meaningful action.

It has been confirmed that vision powers action. That is why a life of no vision is a life of no action. A life of no vision is a life that is usually grounded in one place. Where there is no vision, there can be no meaningful action.

It is lack of vision that makes young people sit in one place doing nothing in the name of waiting for government jobs. Because they have no vision, they have no action. Beloved, don’t live your life like that. Don’t wait for government and waste in life.  Let God give you something to pursue with your life.

Today, there are many people who don’t do anything with their lives, yet they wait for the time to contest political elections so they can be elected into government offices to collect salary. This is not supposed to be so. In other countries, people who contest elections into political offices are people who are successful in their various fields of endeavours.

But in our country, Nigeria, the opposite is the case. A man who has never succeeded in anything wakes up one day and begins to campaign just to be elected into a public office in order to steal public funds. And six months after the expiration of his tenure, if he is not re-elected, he becomes broke and wretched. This is because if he doesn’t steal money from the government, he can’t engage his mind productively to a living. This is a manifestation of lack of vision.

Beloved, make up your mind not to be idle. Always place a vision of what to do in front of you and pursue it.

*Remember this* 💡: Where there is no vision, there can be no meaningful action.

*1. Always put a vision in front of you* .

*2. Take action in line with your vision* .

*3. Persist in the pursuit of your action until you see desired results* .

*PRAYER* 🙏🏼: Thank You Lord for showing me the secret of meaningful and persistent actions. I ask that You give me the vision that will fuel my action, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

*QUOTE* : A vision is what you look forward to accomplish for God and in your life. Culled from “15 KINGDOM STRATEGIES FOR SURVIVAL” by Dr Paul Enenche.

*DAILY READING: 1 Corinthians 5-7*

*AMAZING FACT* 😳: Alligators generally live between 30 & 50 years.

*PROPHETIC DECLARATION/WORD* 🔊🌧️: The spell of inaction is broken off your life today in Jesus’ Name.

Good Morning 🌺🌹

[11/22, 5:13 AM] Pastor Emmanuel Oshevire: OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. Isaiah 55:8

READ: Judges 7:1-15

1. Then Jerubbaal, who is Gideon, and all the people that were with him, rose up early, and pitched beside the well of Harod: so that the host of the Midianites were on the north side of them, by the hill of Moreh, in the valley.

2 And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me.

3 Now therefore go to, proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, Whosoever is fearful and afraid, let him return and depart early from mount Gilead. And there returned of the people twenty and two thousand; and there remained ten thousand.

4 And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people are yet too many; bring them down unto the water, and I will try them for thee there: and it shall be, that of whom I say unto thee, This shall go with thee, the same shall go with thee; and of whomsoever I say unto thee, This shall not go with thee, the same shall not go.

5 So he brought down the people unto the water: and the LORD said unto Gideon, Every one that lappeth of the water with his tongue, as a dog lappeth, him shalt thou set by himself; likewise every one that boweth down upon his knees to drink.

6 And the number of them that lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, were three hundred men: but all the rest of the people bowed down upon their knees to drink water.

7 And the LORD said unto Gideon, By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the other people go every man unto his place.

8 So the people took victuals in their hand, and their trumpets: and he sent all the rest of Israel every man unto his tent, and retained those three hundred men: and the host of Midian was beneath him in the valley.

9 And it came to pass the same night, that the LORD said unto him, Arise, get thee down unto the host; for I have delivered it into thine hand.

10 But if thou fear to go down, go thou with Phurah thy servant down to the host:

11 And thou shalt hear what they say; and afterward shall thine hands be strengthened to go down unto the host. Then went he down with Phurah his servant unto the outside of the armed men that were in the host.

12 And the Midianites and the Amalekites and all the children of the east lay along in the valley like grasshoppers for multitude; and their camels were without number, as the sand by the sea side for multitude.

13 And when Gideon was come, behold, there was a man that told a dream unto his fellow, and said, Behold, I dreamed a dream, and, lo, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the host of Midian, and came unto a tent, and smote it that it fell, and overturned it, that the tent lay along.

14 And his fellow answered and said, This is nothing else save the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel: for into his hand hath God delivered Midian, and all the host.

15 And it was so, when Gideon heard the telling of the dream, and the interpretation thereof, that he worshipped, and returned into the host of Israel, and said, Arise; for the LORD hath delivered into your hand the host of Midian.

God’s directions may not always make sense to us, because as humans, we are too short-sighted to see what He does and too dull to think as He (Isaiah 55:8-9).

Gideon experienced the seeming illogicality of God’s direction firsthand. He thought he had been mistaken for someone else when the angel of God called him a man of valor. Gideon was cowardly but God had decided to use him to lead His people to victory over their enemy. Even when Gideon eventually accepted to lead the Israelites in battle, God still went ahead to prune his army of thirty-two thousand soldier down to just three hundred! Three hundred men against an army! Although it looked like an impossible mission, at the end of the day, Gideon was victorious. No matter how unreasonable an instruction from God may be, as long as it is from Him, it will surely end in victory. Isaiah 30:21 says:
“And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.”

We were preparing for a crusade in Benin many years ago. Everything had been set when I thought to talk to God about it. He told me we should go to Ede instead. We had just concluded a crusade in Ilesha (very close to Ede), and so I felt that anyone who wanted to come from Ede should have been at that crusade. However, since I have learnt never to disobey God, I told my people “God said we are going to Ede.” We went to Ede and when it was time for the monarch of the town to greet the people during the crusade, he said he did not have money, but offered us land in any quantity we desired. After the crusade, I called my people together and we decided to ask for fifty acres of land. That seemed like a lot, but when I went back to God, He said we should ask for five hundred hectares. This did not make any sense at all because the developed part of Ede was not that large, but I asked anyway. We got the land and today, the Mission School of RCCG as well as the Redeemer’s University are sited on that land.

Even if His instruction does not make sense, just trust Him and obey.

In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone, who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
‘Til on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live, I live.

There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life’s first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
Till He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand.
