[12/1, 6:19 AM] Pastor Emmanuel Oshevire: *DAILY MANNA*
_*TUESDAY, DECEMBER 01, 2020*_
TOPIC: *POSSESSING THE MIND OF CHRIST*
TEXT: *Proverbs 24:1-20*.
_*“Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth.”*_ – (Proverbs 24:17)
One of the greatest virtues of a believer as enunciated by our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in the New Testament is the principle of non-retaliation. Retaliation may be by direct vengeance or sometimes by indirect method of rejoicing when evil befalls one’s perceived enemy. It may also be by wishing someone, who has offended us, evil.
The text under consideration today teaches believers true wisdom and its benefits. It is evil for a Christian to go on a mission of vendetta. It is wisdom for a believer not to revenge or retaliate directly or indirectly. Neither should he rejoice when his enemy falls.
The pleasure some people derive from the calamities and misfortunes of their perceived enemy is forbidden by God. When a believer has a true knowledge of the word of God, his heart will be filled with the grace and comfort of the Holy Ghost, which will not allow him to do evil or imagine evil. The Spirit of God will make him to be at peace with everyone, including the wicked enemies, at all times.
Only people with Christ’s mind will neither revenge nor imagine evil when calamities befall their enemies. Christ’s mind can only be possessed through the new birth. The new birth comes upon a sinner when he acknowledges his/her sinfulness, confesses them and makes Christ his/her Lord and Saviour. This will make the grace of God to flood his heart. He will not be able to retaliate or rejoice when evil befalls his enemies.
*THOUGHT FOR THE DAY*:
Heart circumcision is the answer.

DATE: TUESDAY 1ST DECEMBER 2020.
THEME: COMMIT YOUR PLANS TO GOD.
A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps. Proverbs 16:9
READ: Proverbs 19:20-21
20 Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.
21 There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.
It is not wise to start planning for something when you are already in it. Some people plan their year in the beginning of the year; no wonder they hardly achieve anything meaningful in that year. You cannot begin to plan for a battle when you are already in the midst of it. Have you ever seen someone planning their own wedding on the wedding day? Or begin to study for an examination in the exam hall when question papers are already being distributed? Why then do you wait until the new year before you begin to plan for it?
Now, if I were to ask to see your plan for the year 2021, would you have something to show me? Note that I said ‘show me’ and not ‘tell me’, because I believe that any serious Christian will live by Habakkuk 2:2 which says:
“ And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.”
If you would not have anything to show me, then you need to go to the drawing board and do a proper plan for the year 2021.
Having established the need for you to plan ahead of the new year, it is important that you commit those plans to the hands of God. Before you were formed in your mother’s womb, God had a plan and agenda for your life. It does not matter how meticulous your plan is, if it is not in line with His agenda for you, you may end up struggling to get your footing in the new year. Let Him know that all you care about is that His will is done and nothing else. Tell Him, just like our memory verse says, that you may have planned your way, but you need Him to direct your steps. God is not responsible for whatever is not committed to his hands; if you say you know exactly what you want to do in the new year and you don’t need His help, He will simply stand back and watch. But if you call on Him to direct your footsteps, He will take you to greater heights and help you far beyond your imaginations.
In year 2021, put God’s will above yours, always.

HYMN 5: DEEPER, DEEPER IN THE LOVE OF JESUS.
1. Deeper, deeper in the love of Jesus
Daily let me go;
Higher, higher in the school of wisdom,
More of grace to know.
Oh, deeper yet, I pray,
And higher every day,
And wiser, blessed Lord,
In Thy precious, holy Word.
2. Deeper, deeper, blessed Holy Spirit,
Take me deeper still,
Till my life is wholly lost in Jesus,
And His perfect will.
3. Deeper, deeper! though it cost hard trials,
Deeper let me go!
Rooted in the holy love of Jesus,
Let me fruitful grow.
4. Deeper, higher, every day in Jesus,
Till all conflict past,
Finds me conqu’ror, and in His own image
Perfected at last.
5. Deeper, deeper in the faith of Jesus,
Holy faith and true;
In His pow’r and soul exulting wisdom
Let me peace pursue.
[12/1, 6:19 AM] Pastor Emmanuel Oshevire: *RHAPSODY OF REALITIES, DEVOTIONAL TUESDAY 1ST DECEMBER, 2020*
*THE NEW HEAVEN AND THE NEW EARTH.*
Tuesday, 1st December.
_*”For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Mark 8:36-37).*_
When a new model of a product or device is advertised with far better features, oftentimes, the value of the current one drops; especially if it’s to be phased out. Generally, all who are interested in the product start preparing for the new one, while losing value for the old.
This is how you should view this current world; it’s going to be burnt up and destroyed. A new Heaven and a new earth that’ll take its place have been advertised in the Scriptures. Revelations 21:1 says, _*“And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.”*_ The 4th verse says, _*“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”*_ And verses 18-19 say, _*“And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass. And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones….”*_
The 23rd and 25th verses take it even further: _*“And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.”*_ What a description! What a place to look forward to! Your focus shouldn’t be on this current world that’ll be destroyed.
Recall the words of Jesus in our theme verse: _*“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”*_ This world, which will surely be destroyed and replaced with another isn’t worth the loss of your soul, so live your life for the Lord. Let your passion be all about the Gospel of Christ—its spread around the world—as we await His glorious return.
*I’m dead to the world and the world is dead to me. Therefore, I set my affection on the Lord and His eternal Kingdom, loving Him with all my heart. The things of the Spirit are of greater importance to me than anything in this world. I live every day with my affection on the Gospel, preaching and spreading it around the world in the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen!*
*FURTHER STUDY:* *||2 Timothy 4:10||* “For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.”
*||Galatians 6:14||* “But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.”
*||Colossians 3:1-2||* “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.”
*||2 Peter 3:12-14||* “Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.”

*Understanding Spiritual Warfare*
*Text:* 2 Corinth 10:3-6
_”For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.”_
As believers, we are constantly at war with the enemy of the Cross. Although Jesus, our Captain and Commander has won the victory, we must maintain the victory. One way to ensure that we constantly walk in the victory is by understanding spiritual warfare.
The next step in understanding spiritual warfare is to know that:
# *Spiritual warfare is 4-fold* :#
i. _Pulling down strongholds_ (Jer 1:10, 18:7)
Stronghold is where the enemy retreats to, restrategize and relaunch their attacks. Until they are pulled down, you will be open to recurrent attacks from the enemy. The Bible says, _”See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out and to pull down, to destroy and to throw down, to build and to plant.”_ (Jer 1:10). There is no building or planting anything good without first of all pulling down the enemy’s stronghold. You must uproot everything the enemy has planted in your space for you to plant the good seed of your destiny.
Jesus said, “ _Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted_ .”(Matt 15:13). Pulling down strongholds also include uprooting every plant which our heavenly Father has not planted. Every evil seed must be uprooted and prevented from bearing fruits. Some spiritual battles take place while “men sleep” and the wicked sneaks in to sow bad seeds. It may take days, months or years for the manifestation of this evil work. But you must pull them down, uproot and tear them before it begins to manifest.

Psalms 124:1-8 (KJV) *If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, now may Israel say;*
*If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us:*
*Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:*
*Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul:*
*Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.*
*Blessed be the LORD, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.*
*Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.*
*Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.*
Beloved, God has been so faithful to everyone of us. We must continually render our sacrifice of thanksgiving to Him. Our focus always should be on what God is doing in our lives and families and not on those things that are not yet there. A thankful heart is the greatest of all virtues. The degree that you are thankful is a sure measure or index of your spiritual health. A healthy spirit is full of appreciation.
Beloved, it is time for us to count our blessings; the blessings of life, salvation, protection, provision, diverse abilities, peaceful nation etc. When we look at every area of our lives, we will see His hands and judge Him to be faithful. When we count our blessings, it will always show a profit.
Be grateful for what you have, not regretting or lamenting for what you don’t have. Hery Ward says, “If you can’t be thankful for what you have, be thankful for what you have escaped. Thankful heart will bring to you heavenly blessings, the more you complain, the less you will obtain”.
When Jeshurun and Israel forgot their root (God), God was angry with them and they paid dearly for it. *Deuteronomy 32:15-26.*
Max Lucado says, “The devil doesn’t have to steal anything from you, all he has to do is make you take the gift and blessing of God for granted.”
Malachi 2:1-3 (KJV)
[1 ] *And now, O ye priests, this commandment is for you. If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the Lord of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart.*
Finally beloved, let thanksgiving be our life style, we must be thankful for every thing and always.
Ephesians 5:20 (KJV)
