*Understanding Spiritual Warfare*
*Text:* 2 Corinth 10:3-6
_”For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.”_

As believers, we are constantly at war with the enemy of the Cross. Although Jesus, our Captain and Commander has won the victory, we must maintain the victory. One way to ensure that we constantly walk in the victory is by understanding spiritual warfare.

*# Spiritual warfare is 4-fold:#*
ii. Casting down imaginations
Ps 2:1-3 says, _”Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.”_ (Acts 4:25)
Evil imaginations give birth to evil occurrences. The imagination of the enemy is to break and cast you down at the slightest opportunity. Spiritual warfare therefore involves casting down these vain and wicked imaginations. To cast down imaginations of the enemy is to take control and be in charge of their thought process.

In Genesis 6:5, the Bible says, _”And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.”_ This is the state of the heart of the evil ones. The imagination of their hearts is continually evil and there is nothing you can do about it. You may choose to be nice but that will not change their evil thoughts towards you. The only way to deal with this is to cast down their evil thoughts and plots in the place of prayers.

It is written that _”The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?”_(Jer 17:9). The heart of the wicked is desperately wicked. The imagination of the wicked heart is terrible. You cannot change an evil heart, it must be cast down with its imaginations. Declare this morning saying, “I cast down every imagination of the
wicked. I bring down to naught every thought and plots of the wicked in the name of Jesus Christ.

Shalom !

REMEMBER HIS FAITHFULNESS

“Remember his marvelous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgements of his mouth;” Psalms 105:5 KJV

Beloved, the goodness of God is not dependent on any external circumstances, but on the truth that God is good and does only good. You know, in this world, it’s so easy to become overwhelmed with challenges. It is easy to focus on all the problems around. It is so easy to focus on the things that are not working. But I want to encourage you to meditate on God’s faithfulness.

Remember how God came through for you, irrespective of the odds that were stacked against you. Remember the miracles, the healing, the provision and the deliverance. The Psalmist encourages us to remember the goodness of God, His marvellous works and the things He did in the past. It is in remembering that we find the strength to keep on going, no matter what. When we cast our minds back to that situation we thought would be the end of it all, and see how God delivered us, we are strengthened in our faith knowing that God never fails. He will always come through for us.

In the book of Exodus 17, the Israelites complained and murmured because they were thirsty and didn’t have water. They let their thirst control them, rather than reminding themselves that the God who parted the Red Sea and provided them with a steady supply of Manna and Quail will come through for them. They forgot the faithfulness and the Almightiness of God. They started to ask “…Is the Lord among us, or not?” (Exodus 17:7 KJV)

Unfortunately, the Israelites are not alone in their quests. Some believers are still asking the same questions today, forgetting all that God did for them. Even if you say God has done nothing for you, which is impossible, get into the scriptures and meditate on God’s faithfulness, His goodness and His awesomeness. And I guarantee you that strength will rise up within you.
Irrespective of what you are faced with, God’s Word is everlasting and it must come to pass. You will surely testify.

[12/2, 5:22 AM] Pastor Emmanuel Oshevire: ‘The Martyr’s Contest!’

Wednesday 2nd December 2020

‘Let us not… be jealous of one another.’ Galatians 5:26 NLT

‘You think your day was tough? I dealt with thirty customers before lunch!’ It’s easy to get sucked into ‘The Martyr’s Contest’, where your problems are worse than everybody else’s. And if you’re not careful, it can creep into your home.

Alicia Howe writes: ‘At day’s end when workplace frustrations are fresh and domestic tasks are looming, the setting is ripe…Spouses who desperately need each other to recognise their efforts, battle it out for the title of hardest-working person…We have a fundamental need for recognition from our spouses, and if we don’t get it, we devise strategies to evoke it.’

The problem is, when we compare ourselves we can damage our relationship. So with that in mind: (1) Be alert for unspoken pleas for encouragement. When your mate expresses frustration, don’t counter with one-upmanship. Jesus said, ‘If you have ears, listen’ (Mark 4:9TLB)! What your mate needs is assurance that they can handle the problem. (2) Express appreciation often. Envision your mate wearing a sign that says, ‘Appreciate me!’ The fact that society is inclined to assign gender-specific roles doesn’t give you the right to take your partner for granted. (3) Reinforce your spouse’s efforts to help. Don’t criticise the way they fold laundry or rake the lawn. When you do, you guarantee they won’t try to do it again. Think of a four-pronged fork: (a) Be respectful of one another’s work. (b) Recognise that while your jobs are different, they can both be difficult. (c) Be sensitive, and flexible enough to help when it’s not ‘your job’ or ‘your turn’. (d) Outlaw the complaint, ‘I’m tired’. It’s counter-productive, and chances are you are both tired of hearing it!

*TOPIC: READINESS FOR ETERNITY IN HEAVEN*

🗣️There is no middle point in eternity; everyone on earth will end either in heaven or in hell.

SCRIPTURE: And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. Daniel 12:2

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: There is no middle point in eternity; everyone on earth will end either in heaven or in hell.

Our anchor Scripture makes clear the certainty of eternity, either with God in heaven or with the devil in hellfire.

Actually, hell was not originally designed by God as a destination for anyone; rather, it was created for the devil and his angels (Matt. 25:41). Our destination is eternity with God in Heaven.

Now, take note of the following facts about eternity:

1. Heaven is real and hell is also real

The Scripture makes it clear that heaven is real (Daniel 12:2); and hell is also real (Rev. 21:15-27).

2. The final destination of everyone on earth is eternity either in heaven with God or in hell with satan, the devil (Daniel 12:2).

There is no middle point in eternity; everyone on earth will end either in heaven or in hell.

3. Nobody arrives at a destination by chance (Mat. 25:10).

In life, no one arrives at any destination by chance. In the same way, no one can appear in heaven or in hell by chance. What you do on earth determines where you will end in eternity.

4. There can be no destination without preparation (Mat. 24:44)

Just as a deliberate preparation is needed for arrival at any meaningful destination on earth, a deliberate preparation must be made to arrive at eternity in heaven. You must prepare for heaven by repenting from every sin and making your ways right with God.

Beloved, my counsel is, make up your mind to prepare for eternity with God in heaven; live right.

Remember this: There is no middle point in eternity; everyone on earth will end either in heaven or in hell.

ASSIGNMENTS:

1. Always live in the consciousness of the reality of heaven and hell.

2. Make up your mind that eternity with God in heaven will be your final destination, and live prepared for it.

PRAYER: O Lord, I desire to make eternity with You in heaven my final destination. I receive the grace to live right and live ready always, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

QUOTE: How you live on earth determines where you will end in eternity. Culled from “15 KINGDOM STRATEGIES FOR SURVIVAL” by Dr Paul Enenche.

DAILY READING: Ephesians 3-5

AMAZING FACT: According to Veterinary Hub, cats spend 70% of their lives sleeping. Cats spend 13-16 hours a day sleeping. No wonder other animals are more active than cats. What a lesson!

PROPHETIC DECLARATION/WORD: Grace to live ready for eternity be released for you in Jesus’ Name.
