[6/14, 6:33 AM] 919063: True humility

Friday 14th June 2019

‘[He] gives grace to the humble.’ 1 Peter 5:5 NLT

There are two kinds of humility mentioned in Scripture: (1) False humility. Paul writes, ‘Do not let anyone who delights in false humility…disqualify you’ (Colossians 2:18 NIV). Whether it’s in your manner of dress, your speech or your behaviour, anything that draws attention to you and away from Christ is displeasing to God. (2) True humility. Truly humble people don’t take offence easily or fight back; they turn the other cheek. And yet their humility is not cowardice, for true humility requires courage. It makes you willing to take a lower place than you deserve, to keep quiet about your merits, and to bear slights, insults and false accusations for the sake of a higher purpose. True humility doesn’t make you think less of yourself, it just makes you think of yourself less.

Peter addresses the subject of humility in these words: ‘God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble. So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honour’ (1 Peter 5:5-6 NLT). The story’s told of a guy who entered a contest to see who was the most humble. When he won, he was given a badge of merit – but then he wore it and was disqualified!

Seriously, pride disqualifies you from enjoying the favour of God. That’s why you need to remind yourself regularly: ‘Everything I am, I owe to God; everything I have, came from God. To him be all the glory.’

_Be Rooted and Built Up in Christ_

_Colossians 2:6-7 (KJ V & GNB)_
_As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and bath up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught abounding therein with thanksgiving. *Since you have accepted Christ Jesus as Lord, live in union with him. Keep your roots deep in him, build your lives on him, and become stronger in your faith, as you were taught. And be filled with thanksgiving._

You must never grow tired of strengthening your roots and foundation in Christ. The deeper and stronger your roots are in Christ, the better off you will be. This will increase your chances of being strong and doing exploits and it will reduce the devil’s chances of cheating you and keeping you from the life that God wants you to lead. Apart from desiring to have a stronger foundation in Christ, you must also continually desire to be built up in Christ and grow into His fullness. Allow the consciousness of your oneness with Christ to manifest and reflect in every area of your life. You must desire to become just like Christ in every area of your life, Eph.4:15. That is your destiny in God, Rom. 8:29.

Beloved, let Christ be Lord indeed of your life. Do His will. Remember that your life belongs to Him. It is actually His life that you are leading now. Allow Christ to live His life through you and let your roots go deep down into His love, Eph.3:17. In Acts 20:32, Apostle Paul reminded the believers at Ephesus that it is the revelation of God’s grace that will build them up and give them access to their divine inheritance in God. The revelation of God’s grace are evidenced in the truths that God reveals to us about the glorious things that He has done for us in Christ. One thing that enhances the manifestation of God’s glory and grace in your life is your continual gratitude for the things that God has done for you in Christ. As God reveals these things to you, rejoice and celebrate them!

Heavenly Father, I appreciate you and l rejoice in the wonderful things you have done for me in Christ.

SCRIPTURE: God had told Abram, “Leave your own country behind you,”and your own people, and go to the land I will guide you to. 2 If you do, I will cause you to become the father of a great nation; I will bless you and make your name famous, and you will be a blessing to many others.  Genesis 12″:1-2 (TLB)

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The product you see in life is a function of the principles of the Word of God that you practice.

In life,”every possibility you want to see attracts a corresponding responsibility. There can be no possibility without responsibility; there is no success without secrets, and there cannot be products without principles. The product you see in life is a function of the principles of the Word of God that you practice. There are many people who neglect the principles of God’s Word and expect to see the products; it doesn’t work like that.

For example, the Scripture makes it clear that to be in good health, a merry heart is key but a broken spirit dries the bone (Proverbs 17″:22.). So,”one cannot remain in a state of depression and anger and expects to be in good health. Also, you cannot keep someone in your heart in bitterness and expect to enjoy a healthy life, especially emotionally, and even physically in the long run (Hebrews 12″:15.). So,”to be healthy, consciously do things that guarantee Divine health.

Also, if you are trusting God for supernatural supplies, you should not sit down in one place and say, ‘My God shall supply all my needs according to his riches in glory according to Philippian 4″:19.’ If you quote only verse nineteen of the Book of Philippians Chapter Four,”it is not complete. It is important to know what was said in the preceding verses that gives the condition for attracting Divine supplies (Philippians 4″:15-18). So,”you cannot just pray and ask God for money if you don’t do the things He asks you to do in His Word.

Beloved, my counsel is, do not be like the man waiting for roasted chicken to fly into his mouth without doing anything. Rather, make up your mind to walk in the realm of faith by adjusting your walk with the Word of God.

Remember this”: The product you see in life is a function of the principles of the Word of God that you practice.

1. Study the scriptures to understand the principles that attract the products of God’s Word.

2. Make up your mind to apply the principles of God’s Word in order to see His products in your life.
