Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
John 15:2

*Bible Reading: Luke 13:6-9*
6 He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.

7 Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?

8 And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it:

9 And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.

“Be fruitful” is the very first statement God made to mankind. This statement was pronounced both as a blessing and command. It is therefore obvious that fruitfulness is the heartbeat and overriding objective of the Almighty God for mankind. Out of His abundant love, God conferred fruitfulness as an irreversible blessing on mankind so that everyone, without exception, must bear fruit. Fruitfulness is so important that Jesus in John 15:8 said that the Father is glorified when we bear much fruit, and by bearing much fruit, we demonstrate that we are His disciples indeed. Consequently, God reacts to fruitlessness the same way He reacts to rebellion, because failure to bear fruit is actually rebellion against the commandment and purpose of God for mankind (Luke 3:9, Matthew 21:19).

The question is, are you bearing fruit? What type of fruit are you producing? If you have not yet given your life to Christ, God expects you to first bear the fruit of repentance (Matthew 3:8). For those who are saved, God expects us to bear the fruit of the Spirit and produce the fruit of souls won into His kingdom (Ephesians 5:8-9, Matthew 28:18-20). Or Lord Jesus Christ gave the disciples many Parable, including the Parable of Talents to teach them the importance of faithfulness in stewardship. In that parable, all the servants put their talents to profitable use. Except the servant to whom was entrusted one talent (Matthew 25:14-30). This servant went and dug the ground to hide his Lord’s money where it lay fallow. When his lord returned and all servants rendered account of their stewardship, he was seriously reprimanded for his lack of productivity. His talent was taken away from him and given as bonus to another servant. In like manner, the Lord expects every one of His children to diligently put their talents and gifts into profitable use for the advancement of His kingdom. We are to do the works of Christ, of which spreading the gospel and soul-winning is paramount. If we fail to be fruitful or productive, we may be guilty of receiving the grace of God in vain, thereby becoming unprofitable servants. I pray that you will never be considered an unprofitable servant in Jesus’ Name. god is keenly looking out for our fruits, expecting us to bear fruit spiritually, physically, financially and materially. He will judge our individual and corporate performance by the quality and quantity of fruit we bear. May you bear fruits that abound and remain, in Jesus’ Name.

Father, please rebuke fruitlessness and stagnancy in my life today, in Jesus’ Name.

Numbers 34-36
Ezekiel 4:4-5:4

• Deeper, deeper in the love of Jesus
Daily let me go;
Higher, higher in the school of wisdom,
More of grace to know.

*Refrain* :
Oh, deeper yet, I pray,
And higher every day,
And wiser, blessed Lord,
In Thy precious, holy Word.

• Deeper, deeper, blessed Holy Spirit,
Take me deeper still,
Till my life is wholly lost in Jesus,
And His perfect will.

• Deeper, deeper! though it cost hard trials,
Deeper let me go!
Rooted in the holy love of Jesus,
Let me fruitful grow.

• Deeper, higher, every day in Jesus,
Till all conflict past,
Finds me conqu’ror, and in His own image
Perfected at last.

• Deeper, deeper in the faith of Jesus,
Holy faith and true;
In His pow’r and soul exulting wisdom
Let me peace pursue.

SCRIPTURE: Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.Proverbs 14:34

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Iniquity corrupts a person’s mind and makes him to do things upside down.

Iniquity has been ingloriously reputed to be the reason behind the undoing of many lives and destinies. Life without character equals life without a future. When your character is out of place,”your destiny is also out of place. On the other hand, uprightness is the secret of solid destiny. To live an upright life is to end right up in greatness.

Now, one of the tragedies that iniquity brings upon the life of a person is corruption of mentality; iniquity corrupts mentality; sin ruins sense.

There is corruption of mentality that happens anywhere iniquity is enthroned. At times, when a man is unable to think very straight, it is because iniquity has confused his reasoning and corrupted his mentality. For example, iniquity makes a man see no reason why he should take care of his wife at home. When his wife asks him for Five Thousand Naira, it causes a quarrel at home between him and her, but when a ‘Jezebel’ (prostitute) on the street demands for Fifty Thousand Naira, he runs to give her immediately. This is bankruptcy of mentality. Iniquity corrupts a person’s mentality and makes him to do things upside down.

Take the case of Solomon for example. Solomon started very well in life but towards the end of his life’s journey, he almost practically lost his mind due to his attraction and marriage to many strange women. It came to a point where he said that vanity upon vanity, all is vanity (Ecclesiastes 1″:2). He saw life as vanity because sin had corrupted his mentality. Imagine that,”someone who was once the wisest man on Earth went on to marry seven hundred wives and three hundred concubines as a result of bankruptcy of mentality.

Beloved, you need a solid mind to have a solid destiny; you need wisdom to fulfil God’s purpose for your life. Therefore, I counsel you to maintain a sound mind by living an upright life. Never allow iniquity corrupt your mentality.

Remember this”: Iniquity corrupts a person’s mind and makes him to do things upside down.

1. Make up your mind to live a life of integrity like Jesus Christ.

2. Maintain a heart void of offence towards God and towards man.

PRAYER: O Lord,”I make demands for solid mentality in order to fulfil my destiny. Deliver me from anything that will corrupt my mentality, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

Talking to God
by David Haase

Hear, LORD, my prayer. Listen to the voice of my petitions. In the day of my trouble I will call on you, for you will answer me.

Psalm 86:6-7
I can remember long before responsibility came into my life.

I never realized a mortgage existed. Turning the lights on and not turning them off as I went through our home was of no importance to me.

My problems were that of reading, writing, and arithmetic. Prayer was not an important part of my family’s life. If I prayed at all, my petitions were for God to help me get a passing grade. That was all I cared about.

I can remember my dad saying, “You can do better. You are not even trying!” I was doing just enough to get by so I could run and play or put on my boxing gloves!

As I grew older, my responsibilities changed. I now pay the mortgage and the light and heat bills, among others. Supplying enough food for our family is an important part of my responsibilities. My needs have also changed.

My Christian values went from simple believing to being in a relationship with my God. As my belief matured, so did my petitions. I talk to God about everything, asking for His strength, His love, His guidance.

Psalm 86:6-7 gives us strength in our lives today.

No matter where we are in our relationship with God, He has given us His grace, through the power of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Hello, God!
Can we talk today?
Thank you for all the blessings in my life.
Give me the strength to spread the power of Your grace with my words.
In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen!

[6/26, 6:03 AM] 919063: Biblical rules for success (2)

Wednesday 26th June 2019

‘Meditate on it day and night.’ Joshua 1:8 NIV

Second, let it in. The word ‘meditate’ means ‘to ponder, ruminate, or examine attentively’. So don’t just read the Scriptures, thoroughly digest them. Pray, ‘Open my eyes to see the wonderful truths in your instructions’ (Psalm 119:18 NLT). You can read a Scripture dozens of times and suddenly see something you’ve never seen before. The idea is to train your mind to see things from God’s viewpoint. Mark Twain said the two best days in a person’s life are the day they’re born, and the day they discover why they’re born. And the only person who can tell you that, is your Creator.

Third, live it out. ‘Be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful’ (Joshua 1:8 NIV). Yes, study the Bible, meditate on the Bible, and even memorise the Bible. But if you want to find success in life you must obey the Bible. You must translate truth into action. No one can guarantee you success except God – and that guarantee is found in reading, meditating, and obeying his Word. Value and worth are directly related to purpose. A car that won’t run is worthless. A pen that won’t write is useless. Likewise, if you are going to be what you need to be, you need to find your purpose in life and fulfil it.

At death, your fame and fortune will not matter. The thing of eternal value will be your answer to this question: ‘Did I live my life in the presence of God and for his purpose?’ C.S. Lewis put it this way: ‘He who has God and everything has no more than he who has God only.’
