[4/23, 5:41 AM] Pastor Emmanuel Oshevire: MESSAGE FROM:

*Rev. Anthony Akinmoyo*
Lifeway Christian Centre,

FOCUS: *Overcoming Hindrances To Prayer*

One of the major problems facing many believers today is the problem of unanswered prayers. I have seen a lot of “prayer warriors” that are not reflecting the glory of the Lord. They are saved but the good things that accompany salvation are not seen in their lives. Many of them are disappointed and frustrated all because of unanswered prayers, but that isn’t the plan of God towards us. We are here to show forth His glory and splendour.

*Hear the promises of the Father to us:*

Jeremiah 33:3 *”Call unto me, and I will answer thee…”*

Jeremiah 29:13 *”And ye shall seek me, and find me…”*

Zechariah 10:1 *”Ask of me…”*

Psalm 2:8 *”Ask of me, and I shall give thee…”*

Matthew 7:7 *”Ask, and it shall be given you…”*

With all these assurances, it should be settled that man is the root cause of unanswered prayers and not God.

Genesis 4:7 (KJV) *”If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted?…”*

Song of Solomon 2:15 (KJV) *Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes.*

For our prayers to secure speedy answers, we will identify some issues and take them away in order to be enjoying open heaven continually.

1. *Wrong Motives*

James 4:3 KJV
*Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.*

What you are asking for may be right but your heart and motives matter to the Lord. God isn’t only concerned with what we ask in prayer but is also concerned about our motives.
Why do you want what you are asking for?
God searches the thoughts and intents of our hearts and discerns our motives.

Jeremiah 17:10 KJV
*I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.*

Matthew 9:4 KJV
*And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, “Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts?”*

Romans 8:27 KJV
*”And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind…”*

Your thoughts comprises the real you. These include your desire, prayer and attitude. When you come before the Lord in prayer, He sees more than your words or action. He sees you through your thoughts, that is why we can communicate with God without opening our mouth.

*How Do I Check My Motives?*

1. *Will the answer glorify you or God?*

John 14:13 KJV
*And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.*

If the answer to your request is to glorify you and not God, then your motive is wrong. You may actually ask for good things, but with a wrong motive. God can’t answer such prayers. I am not saying that when God answers a prayer with right motives, that you will not benefit from the answer, you will of course, but the praise and glory belongs to God. Do not ask for things to prove to your competitors that you have arrived (like *Penninah* and *Hannah’s* Case in *1 Sam. 1*) but ask because you are a child of God who deserves good things that pertain to life.

2. *Bad Relationship* (Marriage)

1 Peter 3:7 (KJV) *Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.*

In some homes, strife is a normal way of life. Quarrelling is their identity. Husband and wife are like “cat and dog.” In such homes, prayers cannot be answered because the Spirit of God cannot dwell in such places. Therefore, make up your mind to live peaceably with your spouse so that your heaven will not remain closed.

Psalms 133:1, 3 (KJV) *Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!*
As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.

3. *Stubbornness* (Hardness of Heart).

Zechariah 7:12-13 (KJV) *Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which the LORD of hosts hath sent in his spirit by the former prophets: therefore came a great wrath from the LORD of hosts.*
*Therefore it is come to pass, that as he cried, and they would not hear; so they cried, and I would not hear, saith the LORD of hosts:*

When a person finds it difficult to appreciate correction, such person’s prayers may be hindered. When you are so adamant that you follow your own way, you are actually closing Heaven over yourself.

4. *Unforgivingness*

Mark 11:25-26 (KJV) *And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.*
*But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.*

You cannot say you are fellowshipping with God and bear a grudge against someone.

1 John 4:20 (KJV) *If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?*

Unforgivingness hinders prayers. Your heart must be free from all forms of offences before you can appear before the Lord. You must make the act of forgiveness an attitude and a lifestyle so that the enemy will not be able to rob you of your inheritance.

[4/23, 5:41 AM] Pastor Emmanuel Oshevire: RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Thursday, April 23
Pastor Chris

…Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God… (Hebrews 11:3).

Some people think it’s nice and humble to always cry to God for help. They think that God loves their “dependency syndrome,” but He doesn’t. Rather, He wants you to effect changes in your life and circumstances with the word of faith on your lips. It reminds of a situation with Jesus and His disciples as they sailed in a boat. The Master had fallen asleep in the rear of the boat, and the Bible says, “…there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy” (Luke 8:23).

The disciples ran to him in utter desperation and said, “Master, master, we perish.” The Master, after rebuking the raging tempest, turned to them and said, “Where is your faith?” (Read Luke 8:23-25). He made them realize they could have done something about the situation without necessarily coming to Him. He said in Matthew 17:20, “…If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed…nothing shall be impossible unto you.”

With your faith, you can achieve and have anything; you can chart the course of your life to align with God’s will and purpose for you. It makes no difference what has happened or is happening with your finances, job and health or in any area of your life; don’t fret or cry for help! Repair, arrange and reconstruct things in line with God’s perfect will with your confessions of faith.

Whatever confronts you today is no match for your faith. Change the narrative with your faith-filled confessions. Speak, and keep speaking, and you’ll surely see the change that you desire, because Jesus said, “You shall have what you say” (Mark 11:23).

With the Word of God in my mouth, I frame the kind of life and environment I desire; I arrange and fashion my life and my world to synchronize with God’s perfect will. All things work together for my good. I’m never helpless, for my faith is strong and prevailing. Glory to God!

Matthew 17:14
“And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying,
:15 Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatic, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.
:16 And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.
:17 Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.
:18 And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.
:19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?
:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.”
Hebrews 11:6
“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
Romans 10:6
“But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:)
:7 Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.)
:8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;”
Luke 20:1-19
1 Samuel 18-19

Romans 15:1-9
Psalm 127-128

[4/23, 10:01 AM] Pastor Emmanuel Oshevire: Today’s SOD – 2020-04-23

SCRIPTURE: Pride goeth before destruction,”and an haughty spirit before a fall. Proverbs 16″:18.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Attitude determines altitudes. Your manner of life affects the extent of your rise.

In our study yesterday,”we saw that a person with great potentials can be limited in life because of certain factors. These limiting factors are the enemies of distinction in life and destiny. There are many people who are born with great potentials but plagued with limitations in life and destiny because of these enemies of destiny.

Now, it is very important to define these enemies of distinction because what is not defined cannot be dealt with; and what is not dealt with can rob one of one’s destiny on earth and ultimately one’s eternity with God. Therefore, in order to fulfil destiny, one must pay close attention to these enemies in dealing with them.

Now, one of these limiting enemies of distinction and destiny is Pride.

What is pride? Pride refers to the absence of humility. It is the bankruptcy or deficiency of humility. Pride is a shortage of humility. It is a major enemy of distinction in life.

Please note that attitude determines altitudes. Your manner of life affects the extent of your rise. In the same way, the attitude of arrogance forbids the altitude of eminence. Whenever a man is too big for people, he is weighed down; his weight becomes too big to climb to the top.

Remember this”: Attitude determines altitudes. Your manner of life affects the extent of your rise.

1. Cultivate the right attitude for a quality destiny.

2. Avoid the life of pride and arrogance.

PRAYER: Lord,”I ask for the grace to develop the right attitude for great destiny. Deliver me from pride and arrogance, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

QUOTE: Pride is satan manifested and there is nothing God hates like satan manifested. God had cast him from heaven as a result of pride. That is why the first thing on the list of what God hates is the principal sin of satan – pride.  Culled from “WHO ARE YOU?” by Dr Paul Enenche.

AMAZING FACT: Eagles can live up to seventy years.

PROPHETIC WORD: Every spell of pride and arrogance is broken in Jesus Name. Receive the grace to walk in humility in Jesus Name.
