Morning Devotion

[7/16, 4:04 AM] How you handle life depends on how big you believe God is. If He’s too small: (i) You will live in constant anxiety thinking everything depends on you. (ii) Your outlook will be dictated by your surroundings – or worse, your critics. (iii) Without the acceptance of a loving God you will be a slave to people’s opinions. (iv) You will constantly crave recognition because you don’t understand that ‘…thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly’ (Matthew 6:4). Author John Ortberg says that when we make the mistake of shrinking God, we ‘offer prayer without faith, work without passion, service without joy, and suffering without hope – which results in fear, retreat, loss of vision, and failure to persevere.’ When Goliath threatened the Israelites, ‘…they were dismayed’ and greatly afraid’ (1 Samuel 17:11). They didn’t think their God was big enough for the job. But not David! ‘…Let no man’s heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine…The Lord that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine’ (1 Samuel 17:32, 37). You can face anything when you know what David knew – ‘The battle is the Lord’s…’ (1 Samuel 17:47). And He’s never lost one yet! So you don’t have to depend on your own resources. David may have felt small, but he knew his God was big enough for the job. Do you know that? Eighteenth-century Anglican clergyman John Newton said, ‘If the Lord be with us we have no cause for fear. His eye is upon us, His arm over us, His ear open to our prayer, His grace sufficient, [and] His promises unchangeable.’ It all depends on how big your God is!

[7/17, 6:29 AM] Pastor Emmanuel Oshevire: Pray for spiritual insight

Friday 17th July 2020

‘Someone with understanding can find the wisdom there.’ Proverbs 20:5 NCV

The people who knew Simon knew he was impulsive and tended to put his foot in his mouth. But Jesus saw something else in him; that’s why he renamed him Peter, implying he was a stone suitable for a foundation. Can’t you imagine the look on the other disciples’ faces when Jesus said, ‘You are Peter…upon this rock I will build my church, and…hell will not conquer it’ (Matthew 16:18 NLT)? But Peter did become a pillar, a respected leader and founder of the church. And all because of Christ’s ability and willingness to look beyond the surface and see what was on the inside. Being made in God’s likeness gives a person amazing potential, but sometimes it takes ‘someone with understanding’ to recognise it and draw it out.

Too many of us see only what is on the surface. So we are quick to peg someone as arrogant, or quick-tempered, or weak, etc. But when you have spiritual insight, you see beyond all that, to the hopes and fears behind the person’s behaviour. We don’t need more self-appointed critics, we need: (1) Parents who pray for their children, look beyond their flaws, and draw out their uniqueness. (2) Spouses who search for the hidden treasure in their mates. (3) Business leaders who treat their workers with respect, and match their responsibilities with their talents. (4) Believers who forgive immature, stumbling fellow Christians and work to develop them. (5) Soul winners who see lost people through the eyes of Jesus and recognise what his transforming power can do.

So pray for spiritual insight.

[7/17, 6:29 AM] Pastor Emmanuel Oshevire: OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL

If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Galatians 5:25

READ: Romans 8:6-7

6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

The moment you become a child of God; you have His Spirit within you.

“That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.’ John 3:6

Being born of the Spirit, you must learn to walk in Him so that you are not drowned by the world and its ways. Fish is born inside water and so cannot survive outside it. Birds are born to fly and can only thrive when they are flying, not when they are hopping. We are born of the Spirit so we thrive when we walk in Him.

When an eagle wants to kill a land animal, it takes it to the air. That is its territory. In the same way, you cannot win the world by using its principles; take the battle to the spirit realm. While you do all that is required in the physical to succeed in life, engage in the spiritual realm to win the battle of your life.

Think in the Spirit. Many of our thoughts leave out the Holy Spirit and thus limits our success. If you always put God in the equation, everything becomes possible. To walk in the Spirit, you must always be attentive to what He is saying at all times. You must ask the Holy Spirit for direction before you take any step. Before you speak, ask Him to give you utterance. Anyone who will walk in the Spirit must pray in tongues regularly; you must also sing in the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 14:15).

The basic secret of progress is consistency. If you will walk in the Spirit, then you must consistently be close to Him. You can’t decide to follow His lead when you are in trouble and then go your own way when you think everything is fine. If you want to walk in the Spirit, then you must surrender completely to Him, whether it is convenient or not.

Having the Spirit of God gives you an advantage over the people of the world; use that advantage wisely.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Isaiah 23-27.

1. When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will, He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

o Refrain:
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

2. Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.

3. Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.

4. But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.

5. Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.

[7/17, 6:29 AM] Pastor Emmanuel Oshevire: MESSAGE FROM:

*Rev. Anthony Akinmoyo,*
Lifeway Christian Centre,

Ecclesiastes 10:10 (KJV)
*If the iron be blunt, and he do not whet the edge, then must he put to more strength: but wisdom is profitable to direct.*

In contintinuation of our yesterday’s teaching which opened up to us that we are not just people but weapons in the hand of the Almighty. It was made known that God is going to use us to frustrate the devil and stop all his manipulations.

But these weapons must be prepared for the master’s use, because availability of wood and iron will not automatically become an axe.

The wood stands for:
Man’s flesh.
The iron stands for:
Man’s spirit.

*Making of the Axe*

A. The wood must be shapened to the right size before it can fit into the iron.

The same way certain things such as the following must be chiseled out of our lives: anger, quarelling, malice, bitterness, lies, pride, sexual immorality etc. Until you are chiseled, you will not be fit for the master’s use.

Isaiah 6:7-8 (KJV)
[7] *And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.*
[8] *Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.*

We need to ask the Lord on regular basis to cleanse us from excessiveness of the flesh.

B. *The Iron (Axe head)*
Iron needs to pass through fire before it can bend.

*Fire baptism*
We must open our spirit to the Holy Spirit to burn away all forms of wrong motives and desires. There must be a great zeal and passion for the kingdom of God. Quality time must always be spent in the presence of God.

2 Corinthians 3:18 (KJV)
*But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.*

Exodus 24:15, 17-18 (KJV)
[15] *And Moses went up into the mount, and a cloud covered the mount.*
[17] *And the sight of the glory of the Lord was like devouring fire on the top of the mount in the eyes of the children of Israel.* [18] *And Moses went into the midst of the cloud, and gat him up into the mount: and Moses was in the mount forty days and forty nights.*

Finally, you chisel and shapen your wood and iron with prayer, fasting, study and meditation on the word of God and worship.

Luke 9:28-29 (KJV)
[28] *And it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray.*
[29] *And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering.*

The more you prepare yourself, the more the Lord will use you for His glory and the advancement of the Kingdom of God.

>Thank you my heavenly Father for the gift of life and another beautiful day you have made.

>Thank you Father for your mercies and loving kindness towards me and my household.

> Thank you my Father for safety in all my journey.

>Thank you my Father for divine supply and protection upon my life and family.

1. 2 Timothy 2:21 (KJV)
*If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.*

O Lord my Father, purge me of anything that will hinder your purpose for my life in the mighty name of Jesus!

2. Isaiah 6:7 (KJV)
*And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.*

O Lord my God, touch my mouth with your fire and burn away every hidden iniquity in me in the mighty name of Jesus!

3. Zechariah 3:4 (KJV)
*And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.*

O Lord my Father, take away every filthy garment that the enemy put on me in the mighty name of Jesus!

4. Jeremiah 16:16 (KJV)
*Behold, I will send for many fishers, saith the Lord , and they shall fish them; and after will I send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain, and from every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks.*

i. O Lord my God, release your heavenly hunters and fishers to gather my blessing and glory back to me in the mighty name of Jesus!

ii. Whatever the enemy has stolen from me and my family, I decree the hunters and fishers of the Lord get them back to me in the mighty name of Jesus!

5. Zephaniah 3:15 (KJV)
*The Lord hath taken away thy judgments, he hath cast out thine enemy: the king of Israel, even the Lord, is in the midst of thee: thou shalt not see evil any more.*

i. I decree and declare my eyes shall not see evil any more in the mighty name of Jesus!

ii. I shall not see evil over my children, business, career, ministry, marriage in the mighty name of Jesus!

6. Job 5:14 (KJV)
*They meet with darkness in the daytime, and grope in the noonday as in the night.*

I decree and declare, whosoever that says my life will not enjoy progress, he or she shall meet with darkness in the day in the mighty name of Jesus!

7. 2 Samuel 9:3 (KJV)
*And the king said, Is there not yet any of the house of Saul, that I may shew the kindness of God unto him? And Ziba said unto the king, Jonathan hath yet a son, which is lame on his feet.*

O Lord my God, cause authorities to remember me for lifting and favour in the mighty name of Jesus!

8. Job 20:15 (KJV)
*He hath swallowed down riches, and he shall vomit them up again: God shall cast them out of his belly.*

Whoever is holding down my lifting, I put them under pressure to release them now in the mighty name of Jesus!

9. Deuteronomy 28:4 (KJV)
*Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.*

i. I decree and declare supernatural fruitfulness on my body and every work of my hands in the mighty name of Jesus!

ii. I declare today is blessed in the mighty name of Jesus!

iii. Goodness and favour shall locate me in the mighty name of Jesus!

iv. Nobles shall open their treasures unto me in the mighty name of Jesus!

Thank you Father for working exceedingly and abundantly above all that I ask or think.

Thank you Father for the uncommon results and answers.

Receive my thanks and praise in the mighty name of Jesus!

See you tomorrow.
*Rejoice evermore.*
*Pray without ceasing.*

[7/17, 6:29 AM] Pastor Emmanuel Oshevire: *Rhapsody of Realities Daily Devotional*

_Pastor Chris Oyakhilome PhD_

_Friday, 17th July 2020._

_For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed_ *(John 6:55 NKJV).*

There are some who still cry to God to fill them afresh, to satisfy their spiritual thirst or hunger. It’s a baseless cry and may yield no results. He knew we were hungry and He sent the Bread from heaven. Today, any Christian who’s begging and crying to God to be filled is wasting his or her time.

When Jesus said, *“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled”* (Matthew 5:6), He was only introducing the message that He brought to the Jews; the New Testament hadn’t begun yet. He wasn’t talking to the Christian, the new creation.

In John 6:35, He said, *“…I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.”* That bread is available to anyone who comes to Him. The question then is: have you come to Him? If you’re born again, yes! You’re in Him through the New Birth; so why are you still hungry? The Bread has come; Jesus is the Bread from heaven (John 6:41).

Also, from our theme verse, we read that His Word is the Bread, because Jesus and His Word are one. John 1:14 says, *“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us….”* So, if you’re experiencing spiritual hunger, what should you do? How do you get filled? *“Eat”* the Word; get under the ministry of the Word of God. Even now, as the Word of God is coming to you through this devotional, you’re being fed; you’re being nourished spiritually.

The Bible says, *“…Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God”* (Matthew 4:4). Rather than sing and cry, “Lord, I’m hungry for you,” study the Scriptures, for only the Word of God satisfies your hunger. Now you can understand why the prophet said, *“Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts”* (Jeremiah 15:16).

_My hunger has been quenched through the Word of Christ which dwells in me richly in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. My life is upward and forward only; I’m fruitful in every good work as I increase in the knowledge of God, in Jesus’ Name. Amen._

*John 6:35* And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

*Acts 20:32* And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.

*1 Peter 2:2* As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

[7/17, 8:51 AM] Pastor Emmanuel Oshevire: Today’s SOD – 2020-07-16

SCRIPTURE: And Elijah came unto all the people,”and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the Lord be God, follow him”: but if Baal,”then follow him. And the people answered him not a word. 1 Kings 18″:21

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: You are not a dedicated child of God if you cannot choose God above anything or anyone else.

Yesterday,”we saw that one way to be dedicated to God is pursuing Him wholeheartedly. Dedication to God implies pursuing God with a united heart and not a divided heart. It is having only one purpose and focus in following God.

However, there are many people whose hearts are divided in their attempt to pursue God. There are people whose hearts are divided in what they want out of life.

Let me give you some examples”: I heard that in some places,”if there is a football match, for example, the Super Eagles of Nigeria playing a match against the national football team of Argentina or a club like Arsenal playing against Chelsea and the time of the match clashes with church service time, some people would go to watch the match instead of going to church. I also heard that in some places, television would even be brought to the church so that the people can watch the match if the match time is clashing with church service time. This is an error! This is a manifestation of a divided heart.

For other people, it is a particular movie they cannot sacrifice for church service. They must have watched up to twelve parts or episodes of the movie and the time to watch the thirteenth episode is clashing with church service time; they would sacrifice church service for the movie. That is not correct! It is an indication of a divided heart.

Beloved, do not do yourself such injustice. You are not a dedicated child of God if you cannot choose God above anything or anyone else. You are not a dedicated child of God if you cannot sacrifice even what you love for the sake of your relationship with God. If you have done anything before this time at the expense of your relationship with God, repent today. Make up your mind not to do that again, and choose God above everything and everyone else in life.

Remember this”: You are not a dedicated child of God if you cannot choose God above anything or anyone else.

1. Assess your life to see if there is anything you cannot sacrifice for God.

2. Ask God to give you the grace to place Him above anything or anyone in life.

3. Make up your mind not to divide your heart between God and any other thing in life.

PRAYER: O Lord,”I confess today and repent from any habit of placing anything or anyone above You. Give me the grace to love You above all things, Lord in Jesus’ Name.

QUOTE: whenever the enemy wants to scatter a man’s destiny,”he first divides his focus. Whenever the devil wants to destroy a person’s life, he gives him many things to pursue at the same time. Culled from “21 FOOLISH THINGS PEOPLE DO” by Dr Paul Enenche.

DAILY READING”: Isaiah 4-6

AMAZING FACT: A research conducted to show the benefits of being a Christian showed this result: believers recover from breast cancer faster than non-believers,”attending church or praying boosts the immune system, believers are less stressed, less likely to commit suicide, report higher levels of self-esteem, and report being happier in general.

PROPHETIC WORD/DECLARATION”: Receive the grace and discipline for a completely dedicated life in Jesus’ Name.
