Morning devotion

[7/18, 8:10 PM] Pastor Emmanuel Oshevire: Before you sleep tonight, eat this Spiritual dinner..

*My God Is Not Wicked!*

The level of your pains determine the level of your gains. The frequency of your learning determines the frequency of you earning and the quantum of your travailing determines the quantum of your prevailing in life.

The prize you’re enjoying today without its price paid should be celebrated because soon payment will be demanded.

The free milk and honey you’re licking today should not call for jubilation yet, soon the bees and the cows will look for their pay.

*”It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth….Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;”*

Don’t be too comfortable or too inconvenient with your present conditions. Everyone must experience wilderness in life, either now or later. The experiences you’re going through in life are not to be wasted…God is not wicked.

You might be enjoying the milk and honey in your Canaanland today, to visit your wilderness tomorrow.

Or on the other hand, you might be eating quails in your wilderness today but milk and honey await you tomorrow.

You might be likely eating your prize today, unknowingly that you gonno pay the price tomorrow. Or sometimes you’re paying the price today to grab the prize tomorrow. Whichever way, it’s your choice.

Nothing happens for nothing but everything you’re going through in life now, has spiritual implications in your life and to your destiny.

Don’t rush in life but be sensitive. Life in phases, never jump the queue. You may not be where you ought to be, but certainly, you are not where you were yesterday. Phase after phase.

You see this life, it’s not a bed of roses but only in heaven which you must not miss that life is stress and price free. There is a price tag to everything your desire to have in this market (world).

It’s either you wait patiently till you balance you money (price) and get your prize or you hurriedly worship the devil as the price and get your prize…

But, it is my earnest prayer that you’ll be like Christ by remembering that; *”…for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.”*

*Finally, It is either you are planning to make heaven or you’re planning to make hell your eternity. Life is full of choices…*

*But I pray for you, that even when you have missed the treasures and pleasures of this world, you shall not miss but must make heaven at last.*

[7/19, 5:08 PM] Pastor Emmanuel Oshevire: OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL

DATE: SUNDAY 19TH JULY 2020.

THEME: KNOWLEDGE PUFFETH UP.

MEMORISE:

And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know. 1 Corinthians 8:2

READ: John 9:39-41.
39 And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.

40 And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?

41 Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.

MESSAGE:

“…Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth.” 1 Corinthians 8:2

One of the biggest problems facing this generation is what is called ‘too know’ in Nigerian local parlance. In the past, it was the University lectures and professors who had this problem, but now that we have the internet, everyone feels very wise. Knowledge is good, but you must be careful that it does not make you puffed up. When something is puffed up, it is difficult to get anything into it because it is already full of air. One who feels he has a lot of knowledge may not be able to acquire more. If you feel like you know all about computers for example, when someone comes to teach about them, you would have the tendency to ignore the fellow. No matter how much knowledge you have, your disposition should still be that of someone who knows nothing.

Several times, I have been under ministrations where the fellow ministering did so from a Bible passage that I know well, yet I learnt something new from it. A wise philosopher once said “The only thing I know is that I know nothing.”

The phrase ‘Knowledge puffed up’ means that the knowledgeable is often proud. God hates pride. James 4:6 say God resist the proud. To resist means to push against the enemy. When someone is teaching, and you begin to correct the fellow in your heart, watch out: pride has set in. you are calling for God’s resistance.

Lastly, ‘knowledge puffed up’ can also mean that the knowledgeable is so swollen up, that he goes about boasting. As we can see from Romans 1:22, some in professing themselves to be wise, become fools. There is no wisdom is being talkative. Wise people talk only when necessary.

Get as much knowledge as you can, but never get puffed. Just like our memory verse for today says, no matter how much you know, never think that you know it all.

REFLECTION:

Are you puffed up with your knowledge?

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 2 Kings 18:1-8.
2 Chronicles 29-31.
Psalm 48.

All to Him I freely give;
I will ever love and trust Him,
In His presence daily live.

Make me, Savior, wholly Thine;
Let me feel the Holy Spirit,
Truly know that Thou art mine.

Lord, I give myself to Thee;
Fill me with Thy love and power,
Let Thy blessing fall on me.

Oh, the joy of full salvation!
Glory, glory, to His Name!

[7/19, 5:08 PM] Pastor Emmanuel Oshevire: MESSAGE FROM:

*Rev. Anthony Akinmoyo,*
Lifeway Christian Centre,
Lagos.

*GRACE FOR FINANCIAL SUFFICIENCY*

The grace for financial sufficiency is one of the aspects of the manifold grace of God. It is the grace that empowers us to have financial sufficiency (riches).

It was secured for us by our Lord Jesus Christ so that we can abound in every good work:

*”For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that ye through His poverty might be rich” (2Cor.8:9).*

*”And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every work” (2Cor.9:8).*

When this dimension of grace is understood and operated by anyone, such a person can’t be a captive of poverty. The Lord Jesus had paid the full price for our sufficiency, so we don’t need to remain in poverty or insufficiency.

No wonder we are warned ahead of time so that when we start enjoying the wealth secured by the power of this grace, we will not say, *”…my power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth” (Deut.8:17).*

Instead we need to take heed to God’s charge: *”But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is He that giveth thee power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day”(Deut.8:18)*.

HOW TO ACTIVATE IT.
Until the power of this grace is activated, you can’t be empowered to experience the reality of financial sufficiency.

THE MASTER-ACTIVATOR:
*Purposeful and Cheerful Giving Motivated by Love*

Let’s get understanding as we read this: *”Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work”(2Cor.9:7/8).*

When such giving is in place, then we are proving the sincerity of our love *(2Cor.8:8)* like God did when He gave us His only begotten son *(Jh.3:16).*

Remember: one sure proof of true love is sacrifice. No wonder, God gave “His only begotten son.” When our giving is provoked by such sacrifice, then we endear ourselves to God’s heart and secure a covenant seal upon our givings *(Ps.50:5).*

Many are giving to God/His kingdom and humanity but the power of sufficiency grace is not activated because they are not giving purposefully and cheerfully as motivated by God’s love.

*SPIRITUAL CONSUMPTION*

*Text: “My son attend to my words, incline your ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.” Prov 4:20-21*

There is a popular saying that we are what we eat. Food consumption has a lot to do with physical strength and appearance. The healthier we eat the healthier we become. When you see a child that is not properly fed it will show on their skin and even in the growth. This is why mothers are encouraged to adequately breastfeed their babies.
This is also true of us spiritually. What we constantly hear and read has a major impact on our overall state spiritually. We feed our recreated spirit by the content of what we constantly hear and read. The content of our spirit depends on our daily spiritual consumption. If you are feeding right it will manifest in the overall state of your life.

Let’s look at different scenarios that may exist in our spiritual consumption.

1. Feeding absolutely on wrong spiritual materials. This is the most dangerous form of spiritual consumption. Wrong books, wrong films, wrong music etc are not healthy for our spiritual growth. As a believer there are books and videos that should never be found in your library or on your phone. We cannot feed our minds on junk and expect to be a treasure.

2. Feeding inadequately – some are feeding right but the quantity is still not enough to produce the required level of growth. If your feeding spiritually is limited to Sunday morning in Church alone its inadequate to sustain you.

3. Feeding on a balanced spiritual meal and in adequate amount is key to our growth spiritually. When this happens we’ll begin to grow up into Christ in all things. Our spirit man will become robust enough to handle whatever life brings our way.

*CONFESSION:*
My heart is constantly longing after God’s word. My heart is open to all that God has in store for me.

*TOPIC:THE LIFTING POWER OF UPRIGHTNESS*

SCRIPTURE: Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. Psalm 15:1-2.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: To be upright is to be right up.

It has been established that upright character is a lifter of life. Holiness is a lifter of destiny.

The most celebrated attribute of God is His Holiness. That is, the greatest attribute of God is His character of Holiness. Human beings may boast about money and other material resources but the thing that Jehovah celebrates most is His character of Holiness.

Now, you can see supportive evidence of the Holiness of God from Isaiah 6:1-3: In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.

Please note that the angels did not cry, “Power! Power! Power! is the Lord of hosts” or “Wisdom! Wisdom! Wisdom! is the Lord of hosts” but “Holy! Holy! Holy! is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of His glory”. Of all the things that God has that the angels could cry about, the Holiness of His Character was the most relevant.

This is also corroborated in Revelation 4:8. And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, LORD God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

This means, what God celebrates, we must also celebrate. The principle of association means the thing that is celebrated the most by God in heaven must be celebrated the most by men on earth.

Now, the question is, how does uprightness lift a person?

1. Uprightness catapults men into the sphere with God.

Uprightness catapults people into the operational spheres of God. And God is not on the ground; God is the high and lifted One. So, if uprightness catapults you to a realm where God is, it means that uprightness catapults you to heavenly places (Psalm 24:3-4, Isaiah 33:15-16). It is not possible to be grounded with uprightness. To be upright is to be right up.

Beloved, make up your mind to be upright in all your ways in order to end right up.

Remember this: To be upright is to be right up.

ASSIGNMENTS:

1. Go through today’s message once again.

2. Make up your mind to stand in uprightness always.

3. Draw nearer to God at the place of prayer to attract His character of uprightness.

PRAYER:🙏👸🤴 Lord, I ask for the grace of right standing with You at the place of prayer. Help me to stand upright in life always so I can end right up, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

FOR FURTHER UNDERSTANDING, GET THIS MESSAGE: LIFTED BY UPRIGHTNESS.

DAILY READING: Isaiah 13-15

QUOTE: Upright living brings boldness. Sin brings the opposite. Culled from “15 KINGDOM STRATEGIES FOR SURVIVAL” by Dr Paul Enenche.

AMAZING FACT: Johannes Kepler, a German mathematician, astronomer and astrologer, who was the founder of physical astronomy and whose work is one of the foundations of the theory of universal gravitation was a Christian and drew his inspiration from God.

PROPHETIC DECLARATION/WORD: As you embrace uprightness, may you receive the grace to end right up in Jesus’ Name.
