[9/5, 6:48 AM] Faith Oshevire: OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL

DATE: SATURDAY 5TH SEPTEMBER 2020.

THEME: SEALED WITH SACRIFICE.

MEMORISE:

And king Solomon offered a sacrifice of twenty and two thousand oxen, and an hundred and twenty thousand sheep: so the king and all the people dedicated the house of God. 2 Chronicles 7:5

READ: Leviticus 12:6-8

6 And when the days of her purifying are fulfilled, for a son, or for a daughter, she shall bring a lamb of the first year for a burnt offering, and a young pigeon, or a turtledove, for a sin offering, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest:

7 Who shall offer it before the LORD, and make an atonement for her; and she shall be cleansed from the issue of her blood. This is the law for her that hath born a male or a female.

8 And if she be not able to bring a lamb, then she shall bring two turtles, or two young pigeons; the one for the burnt offering, and the other for a sin offering: and the priest shall make an atonement for her, and she shall be clean.

MESSAGE

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.” Romans 12:1

For a dedication exercise to be complete in the sight of God, there must be a sacrifice alongside to show commitment. In Genesis 17:9-13, God asked Abraham to circumcise all male children in his house. This act marked the children of Abraham as God’s; they were dedicated to Him. Today, we must know however, that the ultimate circumcision is that of the heart (Romans 2:29, Deuteronomy 10:16)- giving our lives to Christ. He is our sacrifice. Anyone that will be a child of God has to come under this sacrifice by confessing Him as Lord and Savior (Romans 10:9-10).

When David came face to face with Goliath, he said the Philistine was doom because he was not circumcised- not dedicated to God. When you are dedicated to God, no Goliath can stand in your way. When you are not, you are exposed.

Anytime there is a dedication. It must go with sacrifice (Leviticus 12:6-8). God knows everyone’s ability. Bring a worthy sacrifice alongside whatever or whoever you are dedicating to Him- yourself, car, business, home or child. When Hannah was going to dedicate Samuel to God, she took along three bullocks and some other materials (1 Samuel 1:24). You see why only very few prophets can compare with Samuel.

When you are sealed as God’s own, demons will have no power over you anymore. Even the devil will see you and say “This belongs to God.”

Always remember the ultimate dedication happens when you surrender your life to Christ as a living sacrifice. You are to deny yourself, pick up your cross every day and follow Him (Luke 9:23). You cannot continue to live in sin and claim you are dedicated to God. 1 John 3:8 puts it clearly: those who sin are of the devil.

As you go about your daily activities today, ensure you remain dedicated to God.

KEY POINT:

Dedication must be sealed with a sacrifice.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Ezekiel 32-34

AUTHOR: PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE

HYMN 17: MUST I GO AND EMPTY HANDED.

1. “Must I go, and empty-handed,”
Thus my dear Redeemer meet?
Not one day of service give Him,
Lay no trophy at His feet?

o Refrain:
“Must I go, and empty-handed?”
Must I meet my Savior so?
Not one soul with which to greet Him,
Must I empty-handed go?

2. Not at death I shrink or falter,
For my Savior saves me now;
But to meet Him empty-handed,
Thought of that now clouds my brow.

3. Oh, the years in sinning wasted,
Could I but recall them now,
I would give them to my Savior,
To His will I’d gladly bow.

4. Oh, ye saints, arouse, be earnest,
Up and work while yet ’tis day;
Ere the night of death o’ertake thee,
Strive for souls while still you may.

*The components of effective prayers*.

*Text*: Matt 6:9-13
_”In this manner, therefore, pray: our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen”_

*How to pray*

*# We pray to God the Father #*
The Almighty God, the Father is the one we should pray to. In the Lord’s prayer, it is written, _”In this manner, therefore, pray: our Father in heaven.”_ He is the recipient of all our prayers and petitions. In Ps 65:1-2, the Bible says, _”Praise is awaiting You, O God, in Zion; and to You the vow shall be performed. O You who hear prayer, to You all flesh will come.”_ When we pray, we come before God the Father. Paul said, _”For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named.”_(Eph 3:14-15). So we bow to God the Father in prayers!

*# We pray in the name of Jesus Christ #*
When Jesus Christ died on the Cross of Calvary, He opened the access door to the Father. In John 14:6, _”Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”_ The only way to pray to God the Father is in the name of Jesus Christ. For it is written, _”Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”_(Acts 4:12)

Jesus told the disciples, _”You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.”_(John 15:16). We ask the Father in the name of Jesus Christ to get the answers to our prayers. Severally, Jesus said and established this pattern of prayers. (John 14:13-14, John 16:14)

*# We pray with the help of the Holy Spirit #*
The Scriptures say, _”Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”_( Rom 8:26). You cannot pray effectively without the help of the Holy Spirit, because you don’t even know how to pray in the first place. The Spirit of God teaches us how to pray in a manner that gets the Father’s attention.

Eph 6:18 says, _”praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.”_ Praying in the Spirit or with the help of the Holy Spirit is not about speaking in tongues alone. It is praying with the inspiration and help of the Holy Spirit. Before you pray, ask the Holy Spirit to help you to pray.

Shalom !

[9/5, 6:48 AM] Faith Oshevire: RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Saturday, September 5
Pastor Chris

STAY TRUE TO THE GOSPEL

We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair (2 Corinthians 4:8).

The Christianity that we have today didn’t come to us on a platter of gold. If you read about Christian martyrs, you’d find that many were killed, beheaded, for their testimony of Christ. On one occasion, over six thousand men were slaughtered for their faith in Jesus Christ, and they were soldiers. They believed the Gospel with all their hearts, and nothing was going to stop them from transferring to the next generation the same faith that they had received.

All the years that you’ve probably had liberty to worship the Lord, to praise Him in the church, attend crusades and participate in life-transforming meetings, that liberty came through the deep struggle, prayers, sweat, tears, blood, faith, determination and passion of other men and women who staked their lives on the Gospel. They weren’t only persecuted, many were buried alive. Some were sawn in two; violently killed, for their faith in Jesus Christ.

Persecution of Christians is still happening in several countries today. Some countries have concentration camps where Christians are subjected to harsh and heinous treatments for their faith in Jesus. A very recent report officially shows that Christians are the most persecuted group in the world.

I’m bringing this to you so you understand that the faith of Jesus Christ that we have, the message of Christ that we’ve believed, is worth everything. In spite of the persecution, those before us maintained their faith and stayed true to the Gospel. It should and must be the same in our day.

No matter what’s happening in your city or nation, stay true to Christ. Don’t vacillate. As read in our theme verse, we don’t give up; we don’t quit. Preach the Word in and out of season. Nothing should be terrifying or intimidating enough to keep you quiet, for greater is He that’s in you than all the adversaries and adversities in the world. Hallelujah!

CONFESSION

Irrespective of the tribulation, distress, persecution or peril in this world, I’m more than a conqueror through Him that loved me—Christ Jesus, my Lord! I’m persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor anything, shall separate me from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus. I remain steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of spreading the Gospel to the ends of the earth. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY

Romans 8:35
“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
:36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
:38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
:39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
‭‭
1 Thessalonians 3:7 NLT
“So we have been greatly encouraged in the midst of our troubles and suffering, dear brothers and sisters, because you have remained strong in your faith.
:8 It gives us new life to know that you are standing firm in the Lord.”

[9/5, 6:48 AM] Faith Oshevire: *LIFE AND FAVOUR.*
FROM:

*Rev. Anthony Akinmoyo,*
Lifeway Christian Centre,
Lagos.

*Retaining Your Glory.*

Hebrews 2:10 KJV
*For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.*

All that Adam lost as a result of disobedience has been restored to us in Christ. No more shame! We are back to the life of glory and honour. Our Lord Jesus Christ boldly declared. *And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one* Jh 17:22

We the believers are indeed the carriers of His glory, in fact, we are made for the Father’s glory. Without glory, life will be formless, empty and full of utter darkness. When there is no glory, nothing works.

Just as Adam lost his glory, the same enemy that deceived him is still very much around. Scripture described him as old serpent.

Revelation 12:9 KJV
*And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.*

The same serpent is still looking for whom to strip off his glory and honour. He will not access your destiny in the mighty name of Jesus!

1 Peter 5:8 KJV
*Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:*

*Covenant Keys To Retain Your Glory*

1. *The Force Of Purity.*

This is living a life of holiness and walking in practical righteousness.

2 Timothy 2:19 KJV
*Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.*

Christianity is not a religion but the life of God in us and it is a way of life. Therefore, our character must always reflect the totality of His nature in order to retain His glory. Carrying God’s glory in our dispensation is not by chance but by choice. Beloved, make up your mind to live a life well pleasing to the Lord. The same devil that robbed Adam of his glory came to Jesus but could not access Him because of righteousness.

John 14:30 KJV
*Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.*

Anytime a believer allows sin to enter and dwell in him, the glory of the Lord will depart from such person. Just the same way the High Priest Eli allowed His sons to defile themselves and the temple and when that happened, the glory departed.

1 Samuel 4:22 KJV
*And she said, The glory is departed from Israel: for the ark of God is taken.*

Hosea 4:7 KJV
*As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame.*

Hosea 9:11 KJV
*As for Ephraim, their glory shall fly away like a bird, from the birth, and from the womb, and from the conception.*

Beloved, strive by the help of the Holy Spirit to live a life of purity and holiness. It pays in this life and life to come.

*Are you married? Abide by your spouse.*

*Are you single? Wait for your time.*

No more defiling of your body which is the temple of the Holy Spirit. If you choose to enjoy a great destiny, you must make purity your way of life. I see you celebrating wholeness and retain your glory in the mighty name of Jesus!

*PRAYERS:*

> Thank you Father for the gift of a new day you have made.

> Thank you my Father for your mercies and lovingkindness towards me and my household.

> Thank you for the joy of knowing you.

> Thank you my Father for the privilege of being a partaker of your glory.

1. 2 Timothy 1:14 KJV
*That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.*

i. O Lord my Father, grant me grace to keep and retain your glory in my life in the mighty name of Jesus!

ii. Holy Spirit, empower my inner man to always make right decision in order not to loose the treasure committed unto me in the mighty name of Jesus!

iii. Sweet Holy Spirit, purge me of every form of uncleanliness in the mighty name of Jesus!

iv. Whatever in me that is repelling your glory be burnt off in the mighty name of Jesus!

2. 1 Corinthians 9:27 KJV
*But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.*

O Lord my Father, grant me grace and strength to discipline myself to keep my body in holiness in the mighty name of Jesus!

3. Hosea 7:8-9 KJV
*Ephraim, he hath mixed himself among the people; Ephraim is a cake not turned.*
*[9] Strangers have devoured his strength, and he knoweth it not: yea, gray hairs are here and there upon him, yet he knoweth not.*

O Lord my Father, seperate me from anything or anyone that defiles my body and strength in the mighty name of Jesus!

4. Ecclesiastes 3:14 KJV
*I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever…*

i. I decree and declare the glory of God shall not depart from my life in the mighty name of Jesus!

ii. I decree and declare, the glory of God shall not depart from my family in the mighty name of Jesus!

5. Job 40:10 KJV
*Deck thyself now with majesty and excellency; and array thyself with glory and beauty.*

O Lord my Father, decorate my life with your glory in the mighty name of Jesus!

6. Psalm 57:8 KJV
*Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early.*

I command my glory to awake and rise to shine in the mighty name of Jesus!

7. Psalm 90:16 KJV
*Let thy work appear unto thy servants, and thy glory unto their children.*

O Lord my Father, make your glory to be visible upon my life and family in the mighty name of Jesus!

8. Proverbs 3:35 KJV
*The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.*

O Lord my God, give my children wisdom and cause them to inherit glory forever in the mighty name of Jesus!

9. Psalm 84:5 KJV
*Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them.*

O Lord my God, fill our children’s heart with your ways that they will never depart from you in the mighty name of Jesus!

Thank you Father for working exceedingly and abundantly above all that I ask or think!

Receive my thanks and praise in the mighty name of Jesus!

See you tomorrow.

[9/5, 6:59 AM] Faith Oshevire: An honest question

Saturday 5th September 2020

‘How long will you hide your face from me?’ Psalm 13:1 NIV

When Kelly James and two climbing buddies died on Oregon’s Mount Hood in the USA, his brother Frank, a professor of theology, admitted: ‘It’s one thing to talk about death in the abstract. It’s another to cope with the death of someone you love…Death is ugly. We can’t – and shouldn’t – try to make it palatable with pious platitudes…One question haunts me, “Where was God when Kelly was freezing to death?” For me not to ask would be a failure to take God seriously…I’m not suggesting mere mortals stand in judgment of God…God doesn’t report to me. But an honest question from a broken heart is a good and righteous thing.’

David wasn’t afraid to ask God, ‘How long will you hide your face’ (Psalm 13:1 NIV)? But then he declared, ‘But I trust in your unfailing love’ (Psalm 13:5 NIV).

Frank James continues: ‘Amid all the spiritual consternation God manifested himself in my grief. Somehow he’s found in the disappointment, confusion and raw emotions. This doesn’t exactly make sense to me, and I don’t like it. But my concept of faith has become Abrahamic…I must trust God even when I don’t understand…as Christians have confessed for centuries, “We look for the resurrection of the dead” (see 1 Corinthians 15:42)…Amid enough tears to fill an ocean…we’ve had to bury loved ones. But we bury them with this promise, “For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive” (1 Corinthians 15:22 NIV). It doesn’t indemnify us against grief…It does, however, take faith to depths where hope begins to poke through the heartache, like a sunbeam piercing a cloudy sky.’
