Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8).

On a certain day, as Jesus taught in one of the synagogues, He noticed a woman who was bent double; she couldn’t straighten herself. She had been in that condition for eighteen years. Then, Jesus said to her, “…Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God” (Luke 13:12-13).

Although the religious leaders present were indignant that Jesus healed the woman on a Sabbath day, the Master’s response revealed something striking. He said, “…ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?” (Luke 13:16).

The Master stated clearly that it was Satan who kept the woman in that condition through “a spirit of infirmity.” And as soon as He dealt with the spirit, the woman straightened up; she was made whole by the power of God.

Jesus understood the spirit world. He knew life was spiritual, and demon spirits are real and responsible for a lot of the infirmities that people suffer from. And through the Scriptures and insight He grants us by the Holy Spirit, we understand how to identify Satan and his works.

If you don’t know the Scriptures, you could be a victim of Satan’s devices. Study and meditate on the Word often; speak in tongues every day; be filled with the Spirit, and your spiritual alertness and sensitivity will always be at its peak. There’re spiritual dimensions to life. You need to know what God initiates, and what the devil instigates. The Bible says “…we are not ignorant of his (Satan’s) devices” (2 Corinthians 2:11).

By the authority given me in Christ, I keep Satan and his cohorts under my feet! I live in God’s glory, walking in divine health, peace, safety, abundance and joy. I walk in the fullness of the blessings of the Gospel today. Hallelujah!

James 4:7
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
1 Peter 5:8
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
:9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
1 John 4:4
“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”
Galatians 6:1-18
Isaiah 9-10

1 Timothy 5:19-25

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7

READ: Genesis 15:1-6

1 After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.

2 And Abram said, LORD God, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus?

3 And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir.

4 And, behold, the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir.

5 And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.

6 And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.

“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;” 2 Corinthians 10:5

Fear is a product of thoughts and imaginations the devil whispers to us. To defeat fear, you must cast down all such imaginations.

Anything that does not align with God’s word should not be allowed into your heart. For example, when the devil whispers “You will soon die”, cast down that thought by saying “I shall not die but live to declare the glory of the Lord” (Psalm 118:17). If he says you will fail, cast it down by saying “The Lord shall make me the head and not the tail. I shall be above only and not beneath….” (Deuteronomy 28:13). Don’t let the devil tell you what God has not said about you; always use the Scriptures as a weapon. That is what Jesus did. (Matthew 4:1-11).

Ephesians 6 says the enemy will throw fiery darts (arrows of fire) at us, but the shield of faith will protect us and ensure they don’t touch us.

“Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.” Ephesians 6:16

The devil sends fiery arrows in the form of fear to pierce and weaken us. Once fear is allowed into the believer’s life, he/she becomes weak and unable to fight. This is why every believer needs the shield of faith to ward off the enemies and their attacks. Remember, faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17).

Usually, when people in distress go to God, the first thing He says is “fear not”. This is because He knows that once fear is gone, the battle is as good as won.

I say to you today: it does not matter what the devil has told you; fear not, you will win this battle in the mighty name of Jesus.

As Jesus did in Matthew 4:1-11, always reply the devil with the word of God.

[9/22, 6:15 AM] Pastor Emmanuel Oshevire: God wants you to succeed (3)

Tuesday 22nd September 2020

‘You made them rulers over the works of your hands.’ Psalm 8:6 NIV

How can you know God wants you to succeed in life? Three reasons: (1) Because he created you. In Genesis he said, ‘Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness’ (Genesis 1:26 NKJV). The words ‘image’ and ‘likeness’ are important. Think about it: we sometimes tell a child, ‘You’re the image of your mother/father. You’re just like her/him!’ Because you are God’s supreme creation, he poured into you his mind, his power, his wisdom, and everything else you need to succeed. Once you grasp the truth of that and begin to act on it, your outlook will be transformed. You will start thinking like a ‘no limit person’.

(2) Because you have worth. Actress Ethel Waters, who used to sing at the Billy Graham crusades, said, ‘I am somebody, ’cause my God don’t make no junk!’ As the crowning achievement of God’s creation, you are the object of his attention and affection. The psalmist wrote, ‘How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can’t even count them’ (Psalm 139:17-18 NLT).

(3) Because everything God made was for you.’You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet’ (Psalm 8:6 NIV). Does that mean God will simply drop success into your lap? No, ‘God blessed them, and…said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it”‘ (Genesis 1:28 NKJV). God has given you his authority and creative ability to succeed in whatever he calls you to do. So instead of thinking like a victim – start thinking like a victor!

[9/22, 6:15 AM] Pastor Emmanuel Oshevire: *LIFE AND FAVOUR*

*Rev. Anthony Akinmoyo,*
Lifeway Christian Centre,

Luke 18:1 (KJV)
*And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;*

Ephesians 6:18 (KJV)
*Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;*

1 Thessalonians 5:17 (KJV) *Pray without ceasing.*

Prayer is a mystery that puts us in charge and in command over the affairs of life. The consistent effectual prayer is a pathway to greatness therefore, we must respond to every issue through prayer before physical action is taken. Prayer empowers us to make good decisions and to rule in the midst of our enemies, no matter how fierce they may be. We receive strength to silence every opposition to the fulfilment of our destinies. It is our rod of authority and staff of office to walk through the darkness of this world.

Psalms 110:2-3 (KJV)
[2] *The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies.*
[3] *Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth.*

You will agree with me that the spiritual rules the physical. The same way, your spiritual status generated via prayer is what determines what follows you in the physical world. I encourage you my beloved, to constantly give attention to your spiritual status via prayer. It doesn’t matter how long the enemy might have been buffeting your life, just put yourself together and enter into the altar of prayer. You’ll be so empowered that shame and reproach will give way.

Psalms 34:4-5 (KJV)
[4] *I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.*
[5] *They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.*

When Jacob desired a change of story. When he was tired of his circumstances, he ventured into prayer and prevailed, he is still being celebrated. See Genesis 32:24-28.

Jacob came out of the prayer room as a changed person with a new name:
From trouble to testimony,
From being a wanderer to a wonder,
From confusion to vision,
From an individual to a nation,
From Jacob to Isreal.

The same God is still alive to do greater things in your life. Today, Israel is a nation because one man prayed.

I declare that the Lord will baptize you with the spirit of prayer and supplication in the mighty name of Jesus!
As you take up spiritual responsibility of prayer today, generations to come will celebrate you in Jesus mighty name!

> Thank you Father for the gift of life and the joy of a new week.

[9/22, 6:16 AM] Pastor Emmanuel Oshevire: *SEEDS 🌽🍉🥑🥔 OF DESTINY*
22nd September, 2020
Daily Devotional by Pastor Paul Enenche.

SCRIPTURE📖: “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world”. John 16:33

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY🤔: The peace of God is needed to withstand and overcome the regular pressures and troubles of this world.

Yesterday, we looked at what peace is all about. We gave some very insightful definitions of peace, both from the English Dictionary and from the scriptures.

Today, we shall be looking at the necessity of peace.

Now, why is peace necessary?

Peace is necessary because:

*The Peace of God is needed to withstand and overcome the regular pressures and troubles of this world.*

There are troubles and pressures that confront life on earth from time to time. Now, some of these pressures are natural. For instance, it takes pressure naturally for a baby to be born. At delivery, the mother has to push for the baby to come forth, and the baby must cooperate with the mother in this process. If the mother is pushing and the baby is docile, the labour may not progress. So, it is pressure that brings out a child from the womb. And when the child is born, he/she must cry. That cry is needed to open the lungs for normal respiratory activity. If the child does not cry at birth, it signals an emergency. After a while, the child learns to sit and crawl by applying pressure. Then the child begins to stand and fall, and stand again in order walk erect on two feet like every normal human being. That is normal pressure.

In the world, some pressures are common (John 16:33). For example, in your place of work, you may be attacked, not because you are doing anything wrong, but because someone doesn’t like you. There are pressures everywhere in the world, but when you have peace, you pass through them as if they don’t exist. The effect of pressure is zero on your life when you have the peace of God that passes understanding.

*Peace is also needed to withstand and overcome the regular negative news we hear and watch every day.* When you turn on your television, you hear terrible things that may put you under pressure emotionally or psychologically. You may have wanted to travel and suddenly, you heard that there were armed robbery operations on the road a day before. This may cause tension and pressure.

*You need peace to withstand and overcome such tension and pressure*. Someone may accidentally hit your car while driving, and you come under sudden pressure and tension. But the question is: would you have been happy if it was your leg the car hit and broke? Certainly NO! So, maintain your peace and move on instead of giving in to that pressure and tension.

Beloved, understand that the problems of life do not serve notice. That is why you need the peace of God to withstand and overcome the regular pressures and troubles of this world.

Remember this💡: “The peace of God is needed to withstand and overcome the regular pressures and troubles of this world”.

*1. Make demands on the peace of God in your life daily.*
*2. Refuse to give in to the pressures and tensions of this life.*

PRAYER🙏🏽: O Lord, I ask that You saturate my life with Your peace. Deliver me from the pressures of life. Help me to maintain quietness and confidence in You at all times, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

QUOTE: “Do you know that there are some people who, when they visit a family, a husband and wife must quarrel? Such a person is an angel of Satan. I do not care whether the person is a mother-in-law, a brother-in-law or a sister-in-law. They are agents of Satan. Once they step into a place, peace must be lost. That is the duty of Satan, the author of crises. God says He hates it”. Culled from “WHO ARE YOU?” by Dr Paul Enenche.
