[9/23, 5:19 AM] Pastor Emmanuel Oshevire: OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL

DATE: WEDNESDAY 23RD SEPTEMBER 2020.

THEME: LOOKING UNTO JESUS.

MEMORISE:

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2

READ: Hebrews 12:1-4

1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.
4 Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.

MESSAGE:

Who you look to will determine how far you go in life. It can be a distraction sometimes to be surrounded by people who you think can help you as it would become hard for you to look to God for everything you need. What can man give to you? Can man keep you alive? Man cannot even heal himself. If he gives you money, can he give you prosperity? Rather than run after men, spend time chasing God. God can turn your life and that of your generation around forever. You don’t need an appointment to see God; He is everything and willing to help you.

A life that looks to Jesus is a life of peace, joy and love. A person who looks to Jesus would not depend on any man to live; his future is secured in Jesus Christ.

The Christian faith is a race and we cannot finish the race without the help of God. Our confidence in succeeding in this race is placed in Jesus Christ! We are encouraged to look unto Him and Him alone. Turn away from your past- failures, successes, sins and so on, and look unto Jesus Christ. We look to Christ because of who He is, what He did and where He reigns.

Who is He? He is the author and finisher of our faith. Jesus knows everything about our earthly race. Indeed, He ran His in faith because He is the author and the finisher of our faith. He is the perfect example to follow.

When we look up to Jesus; He will perfect what He began in us. Those who look unto God cannot be put to shame. You cannot trust in God and be put to shame.

“The king shall joy in thy strength, O LORD; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice! Thou hast given him his heart’s desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah.” Psalm 21:1-2

Never look unto man; look to Jesus alone, He is higher than the highest. He is a very present help when you are faced with life’s challenges (Psalm 46:1).

ACTION POINT:

Never shift your gaze off Jesus no matter what comes your way.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Esther 6-10.

AUTHOR: PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE

HYMN 19: MY HOPE IS BUILT ON NOTHING LESS.
1. My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.

o Refrain:
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand,
All other ground is sinking sand.

2. When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.

3. His oath, His covenant, His blood
Support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.

4. When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found;
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.

[9/23, 5:19 AM] Pastor Emmanuel Oshevire: *LIFE AND FAVOUR*
FROM:

*Rev. Anthony Akinmoyo,*

*WE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR OUR LIVES*

Deuteronomy 2:24 (KJV)
*Rise ye up, take your journey, and pass over the river Arnon: behold, I have given into thine hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land: begin to possess it , and contend with him in battle.*

God is a responsible Father who also wants His children to be responsible. That is why none of His promises excludes us in its fulfilment. He always wants us to play our own role towards our destiny fulfilment.

The enemy has used some lies and religious fallacies to cage many destinies for so long such as the following:

A. Whatever will be will be.
B. Whatever is mine will come to me.
C. Whatever God says must happen.

These are the assumptions and lies that have kept many Christians in stagnation over the years. Beloved, until you take action of faith towards the promises of God, He is not committed to bringing it to pass.

Joshua 18:3 (KJV)
*And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the Lord God of your fathers hath given you?*

Joshua’s charge to the Israelites gave us more insight, that is, as long as you are slacking, you can’t possess your inheritance in Christ.

Many are waiting for God and God is equally waiting for them to take up responsibility of faith in order to access their glorious throne in Christ Jesus.

Luke 8:23-24 (KJV)
[23] *But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water , and were in jeopardy.*
[24] *And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm.*

When the wind arose against Jesus with His disciples, Jesus arose and took up responsibility for Himself and His disciples by rebuking the storm and there was a great calm.

Beloved, you too must arise and rebuke every contrary wind of lack, sickness, crises, stagnation etc. Remember, until you do something God will not do anything.

Arise, take action based on the sure Word of God, acquire more knowledge and skill, move forward, pray more, fast more, lay hold on your inheritance and rebuke the devil from sitting on your destiny.

*PRAYERS AND DECREE:*

> Thank you my father for seeing another day you have made.

> Thank you my father for your protection over my life and family.

> Thank you my Lord for the salvation of my soul and that of my household.

> Thank you my father for daily sending your word to me.

1. 2 Peter 1:3 (KJV)
*According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:*

Thank you my Father for providing all things I will ever need in the mighty name of Jesus!

2. 1 John 5:18 (KJV)
*We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.*

Thank you my Father for the authority you gave me to keep myself against the wicked one in the mighty name of Jesus!

3. Philippians 2:12 (KJV)
*Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.*

O Lord my Father, grant me grace to be more responsible and accountable for every event in my life in the mighty name of Jesus!

4. 2 Timothy 3:5 (KJV) *Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.*

O Lord my Father, deliver me from every form of unprofitable religious belief in the mighty name of Jesus Christ!

5. John 4:35 (KJV)
*Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest*

O Lord my Father, deliver me from the spell of procrastination and delay from taking action towards the fulfilment of my destiny in the mighty name of Jesus Christ!

6. Job 22:28 (KJV)
*Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.*

i. I decree the end of all activities of the devil around my life and family in the mighty name of Jesus!

ii. Satan, I rebuke your hand from the destinies of our youths in the mighty name of Jesus Christ!

7. Job 38:11 (KJV)
*And said, Hitherto shalt thou mmmcome, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed?*

i. I decree anything that is resisting the promises of God in my life comes to an end in Jesus mighty name!

ii. I decree no more shame, lack, reproach and untimely death in my family in Jesus mighty name!

*DECLARATIONS:*

1. Micah 6:1 (KJV)
*Hear ye now what the Lord saith; Arise, contend thou before the mountains, and let the hills hear thy voice.*

> I rebuke the spirit of infirmity in my life and family in Jesus mighty name!

> I frustrate the manipulations of the wicked in my life and family in Jesus mighty name!

> I raise objection against the argument of the devil in Jesus mighty name!

> I declare I am highly favoured.

> I decree and declare, lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places in the mighty name of Jesus Christ!

> I declare today is blessed in the mighty name of Jesus!

Thank you Father for working exceedingly and abundantly above all that I ask or think.

Receive my thanks and praise in the mighty name of Jesus.

See you tomorrow,
*Rejoice evermore.*
*Pray without ceasing.*

[9/23, 5:19 AM] Pastor Emmanuel Oshevire: God wants you to succeed (4)

Wednesday 23rd September 2020

‘For then…you will have good success.’ Joshua 1:8 NKJV

In Scripture the word ‘success’ simply meansknowing and doing God’s will for your life. It’s that simple! For Joshua, success meant entering the Promised Land, conquering it, living there and enjoying all its blessings every day. Listen to what God told him: ‘Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses my servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and…you will have good success’ (Joshua 1:7-8 NKJV).

True success involves these three things: (1) Becoming what God wants you to be. (2) Doing what God wants you to do. (3) Having what God wants you to have. And as you achieve the goals he has set for your life, you become successful. As the renowned author/lecturer Dale Carnegie once observed, ‘Success is getting what you want. Happiness is wanting what you get.’ In their endless quest for achievement, some people become so greedy and grasping that they are never satisfied. And because they are always wanting more, they fail to enjoy what God has already given them.

Real success isn’t a destination; it’s a journey. It’s joy created by progress. It’s knowing that you’re ‘on schedule’ when it comes to God’s assignment for your life.

LIVING IN CHRIST

So then, just as you have received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him_ *(Colossians 2:6 NIV).

Before we review Paul’s amazing submission in the verse above, let’s read what he said in the 20th verse: *“Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances”* (Colossians 2:20). Notice his amazing communication; he says the Christian doesn’t live in this world, in this natural plane of life. Where then does the Christian live? He lives in Christ!

Christ is the home and new environment of the one who’s born again. Notice 2 Corinthians 5:17; it says, *“If any man be in Christ…”*; Christ is a place. You’re not supposed to be affected, ruled or influenced by the rudiments of this world, because you live in a different environment. In that environment, everything is perfect; there’s no failure, weakness, defeat, sickness, disease, poverty or anything of darkness. We only have God’s glory and righteousness.

Now you can better understand what we read in our opening verse; *“just as you have received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him.”* Living in Christ is living in the kingdom of heaven in the earth, with absolute mastery over circumstances, shielded, nourished and protected by His divine power. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Christ is my home; Christ is my life and Christ is my all! In Him I live, and move and have my being. His glory is all I see, have and experience. I’m not subject to circumstances; rather, I reign and manifest the glory and righteousness of Christ, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY

Philippians 3:20-21 AMPC* But we are citizens of the state (commonwealth, homeland) which is in heaven, and from it also we earnestly and patiently await [the coming of] the Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) [as] Savior, *21* Who will transform and fashion anew the body of our humiliation to conform to and be like the body of His glory and majesty, by exerting that power which enables Him even to subject everything to Himself.

Romans 8:1
[There is] therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

BY DR PAUL ENENCHE

TOPIC: CONFRONTING AND CONQUERING THE STORMS OF LIFE

SCRIPTURE: And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. Mark 4:39.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Peace is needed to confront and conquer sudden storms that may arise in your journey of life.

The peace of God is an indispensable necessity in life and destiny. The peace of God is the answer to the storms of life. Peace is needed to confront and conquer sudden storms that may arise in your journey of life.

We can see an example from the Scripture: One day, Jesus Christ was in a boat with his disciples in a sea and a storm arose.

Mark 4:35-39 says, And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side. And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships. And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

At times, sudden storms may arise while you are embarking on an important journey in life. That is why the peace of God is needed.

Now, when the storm arose, Jesus seemed to say, “I confront you storm, with peace. You storm, Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. Halleluiah!

You know, most times, the storms of life arise without notice, and they come to put pressure on your content. Sometime ago, we were flying to France, and as we were trying to land, the aircraft came close to the ground but took off suddenly and violently into the air. People began to panic, and at that moment, I was reminded of a prophetic declaration: “If it would crash, you won’t be inside, and if you are inside, it won’t crash”. So, I remained seated peacefully. Shortly after that, the pilot apologised for the failure of the automatic landing system; meaning, what should have landed the aircraft failed. But shortly after that, it became normal, and the plane landed successfully.

You see, when the emergencies of life occur, what you need is the peace of God.

Beloved, determine to go for the peace of God so you can confront and conquer sudden storms that may arise in your journey of life.

Remember this: Peace is needed to confront and conquer sudden storms that may arise in your journey of life.

*ASSIGNMENTS:*
1. Always maintain the presence of God to confront the storms of life.
2. Endeavour to remain peaceful and look unto God in the face of any sudden storm in life.
3. Live ready by being filled with the Holy Spirit and loaded with the Word of God under the cover of His Presence.

PRAYER:🙏👸🤴 Lord, I receive Your peace to stay afloat the storms of life in calmness of heart and peacefulness of mind. Help me to maintain Your Presence in my life always, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
