No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. 2 Timothy 2:4

READ: 2 Samuel 23:8-17

8 These be the names of the mighty men whom David had: The Tachmonite that sat in the seat, chief among the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite: he lift up his spear against eight hundred, whom he slew at one time.

9 And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away:

10 He arose, and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave unto the sword: and the LORD wrought a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to spoil.

11 And after him was Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. And the Philistines were gathered together into a troop, where was a piece of ground full of lentiles: and the people fled from the Philistines.

12 But he stood in the midst of the ground, and defended it, and slew the Philistines: and the LORD wrought a great victory.

13 And three of the thirty chief went down, and came to David in the harvest time unto the cave of Adullam: and the troop of the Philistines pitched in the valley of Rephaim.

14 And David was then in an hold, and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Bethlehem.

15 And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate!

16 And the three mighty men brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: nevertheless he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the LORD.

17 And he said, Be it far from me, O LORD, that I should do this: is not this the blood of the men that went in jeopardy of their lives? therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mighty men.

Sometimes ago in the American Army, battalion was dropped behind enemy lines. Initially, it was believed that the enemies were not aware, however the enemies eventually surrounded the battalion. Once it became clear that the battalion would be defeated, the leader of the group phoned their headquarters for support saying “We are totally surrounded and outnumbered at least 100 to 1; send the Marines” Legend has it that the phrase “send the marines” was derived from this event. At that time, only three Marines were available for the assignment and they were all sent. They worked all night and created a path for the battalion to escape. While the battalion was moving, they saw thousands of dead enemies. The three commandos had killed them in just one night.

There are ordinary Christian soldiers and there are Christian commandos. As for me, I have determined not to be an ordinary soldier for Christ, I want to be a commando. What about you?

Commandos go through the most rigorous qualification training. That is why a commando for Christ can weather any storm. He is unshakable. Job was a commando. No wonder he stood strong and even came out stronger in the face of adversity.

The true strength of boxer is measured by the opponent he/she faces. Likewise, the strength of a true Christian soldier is known by the kind of opponents he/she has brought down. If an ordinary insult is enough to bring you down, then you are not yet ready to be a member of this select group in the army of Christ. If you are still finding ‘good’ excuses to commit sin, you are obviously not yet ready for the training, talk less of becoming a commando.

If you would be used of God, you must go through the training. Just as no one can join the army without being fit, God cannot use an untrained person. If you would be a commando for God, you must go through the most rigorous training. Surrender all and make yourself available today. Stay on the winning side.

Father, I surrender all to You. Please help me to trust You even more as You train me to become a commando for You, in the mighty name of Jesus.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Matthew 9-10

1. All to Jesus I surrender,
All to Him I freely give;
I will ever love and trust Him,
In His presence daily live.
o Refrain:
I surrender all,
I surrender all;
All to Thee, my blessed Savior,
I surrender all.

2. All to Jesus I surrender,
Humbly at His feet I bow;
Worldly pleasures all forsaken,
Take me, Jesus, take me now.

3. All to Jesus I surrender,
Make me, Savior, wholly Thine;
Let me feel the Holy Spirit,
Truly know that Thou art mine.

4. All to Jesus I surrender,
Lord, I give myself to Thee;
Fill me with Thy love and power,
Let Thy blessing fall on me.

5. All to Jesus I surrender,
Now I feel the sacred flame;
Oh, the joy of full salvation!
Glory, glory, to His Name!

*Rest on Every side*
*Text:* 1Kings 5:4
_”But now the LORD my God has given me rest on every side; there is neither adversary nor evil occurrence.”_

*# Rest from TROUBLE #*

Apostle Paul said, _”From henceforth let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus.”_(Gal 6:17). Paul was unarguably one of the most successful apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. He was credited with writing more than 2/3rd of the New Testament books. He even said at some point in his ministry, _”I labour more than them all.”_ (1 Corinth 15:10). But he had storms which troubled him sore. He must have had enough and declared, _” From now on, let no man trouble me.”_ Oftentimes, you will not be able to rise to your place of promise until you have rest on every side. Rise up and say to all that trouble you, “Peace be still.”!

2 Thessalonians 1:6-7 says, _”since it is a righteous thing with God to repay with tribulation those who trouble you, and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels.”_ God will arise to trouble those who trouble you in the name of Jesus. Those who have chosen not to let you have peace, peace will elude according to the Scriptures. The Lord said He will contend with those who contend with you and feed them with their own flesh.

While the troublers are being troubled, the Lord will give you rest on all sides. God is taking your battles personal now. All you have to do is, _”Hold your peace and see the salvation of the Lord.”_ (Ex 14:13) Enjoy divine rest while the God of angels armies fights those who fight you.

[10/15, 8:03 AM] Pastor Emmanuel Oshevire: MILLIONAIRE EMBRACE: Thursday October 15, 2020 | Korede & Esther Komaiya

“So he answered and said to me: ‘This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the LORD of hosts.” Zechariah 4:6 (NKJV)

IMPOSSIBLE does not exist with God, for with God all things are possible [Matthew 19:26]. There is no limit to how God operates; He is a limitless God. Your connection to Him qualifies you for the limitless life, which is the empowered life. No matter how glorious your destiny is, you need corresponding empowerment to be able to fulfill it, otherwise, you’ll be a victim of the wickedness of “hell” and that of men, environmental factors, gender limitations, limitations of your background, etc. There is an empowerment that does not permit limitation.

If you must live above limitations on your path, you can’t do it in the energy of the flesh, you must be empowered. A lot of believers are operating on a very low spiritual scale which is why they are limited. Life is spirit-powered, and you can’t run the race of the spirit with the energy of the flesh. Most of your struggles are a product of your continued move to act by might and power; there are heights you can’t climb except by the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. Empowerment of the Holy Spirit is the key to a limitless life; your mind will be operating at the level of the mind of Christ. You become a perfect proof of Good Times Better Days. Your life will be as productive as you are empowered by the Spirit.

Today, I cease to run the race of the spirit with the energy of the flesh. I receive the empowerment of the Holy Spirit for the limitless life. Thank You LORD, in Jesus Mighty Name!

IMPOSSIBLE does not exist with God.

*Raising the Foundations of Many Generations*

_Isaiah 58:11-12(NKJV), Jeremiah 1:10_
_The LORD will guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail. you shall build the old waste places; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; and you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach, The Restorer of Streets to Dwell In. *See, l have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy. and to throw down, to build, and to plant._

One major purpose of fruitfulness and productivity is to lay a good foundation and legacy for the future. Many people do not consider the future in their decisions and resulting actions. Many people squander the resources and opportunities they have and they steal and cheat others because they do not think about others and future generations. Some squander and steal the resources of the nation or organizations. Instead of stealing, God wants you to work and to be so productive that you can be a blessing to others. “Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth,” Eph. 4:28.

In our first text above, God refers to you as a repairer of the breach. A breach is a hole or a gap or something that is wrong or missing. Rather than collaborating with others to abuse and destroy the resources and future of organizations and nations, God wants you to root out, pull down, destroy and throw out the mentalities, the systems and the structures that accommodate stealing and squandering of resources. Instead, God wants us to build and plant the mentalities, system and structures that will benefit future generations. God wants us to build things that will outlive us and our generation. We are to leave a good inheritance and legacy for future generations. God wants you to invest in others and in the future. David prepared resources in abundance for Solomon, his son, to build a magnificent temple for God in the future, 1 Chron. 22:2-5. Like Joseph, God wants us to use His wisdom to build systems and provide resources that will preserve the future of economies, businesses, families, ministries, education, health, politics, sports, media and every sphere of influence of life.

Prayer Focus: Ask God to use you to repair broken systems and to plant and build good foundations, systems and legacies for the future.
[10/15, 8:03 AM] Pastor Emmanuel Oshevire: *LIFE AND FAVOUR*

*Rev. Anthony Akinmoyo,*
Lifeway Christian Centre,

John 12:24-25 (KJV)
[24] *Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.*
[25] *He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.*

Whatever vision of greatness God has given to everyone of us, sacrifice is the universal demand to actualize it. That is, to deny ourselves of certain pleasures and comfort in order to get to our God-given inheritance of destiny fulfilment. It is a price for greatness.

Sacrifice means putting our body under subjection, extreme discipline, maximising time and resources so as not to frustrate God’s purpose for our lives. Lovers of pleasure can hardly achieve anything tangible.

Proverbs 21:17 (KJV)
*He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.*

1 Timothy 5:6 (KJV)
*But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.*

Beloved, God’s plan of greatness for us does not exclude our efforts. Once we access His plan for our lives, the next stage is to find out what it entails to get it done and work diligently towards the actualization.

It is apparent that we understand our roles in actualization of God’s purpose for our lives. Jotham was not known until he prepared himself and he was made mighty at the end.

2 Chronicles 27:6 (KJV)
*So Jotham became mighty, because he prepared his ways before the Lord his God.*

Apostle Paul was a great man of unusual wisdom and revelation, he said it was labour that revealed the grace of God that was upon him.

1 Corinthians 15:10 (KJV)
*But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.*

It is our dedication, preparation and labour that define the beauty and glory of our future.

It is true that God has promised us a great future but without our personal sacrifice and conscious effort, it might remain a daydream. Time is a gift from God for us to prepare so that we can handle the blessings He has for us.

Therefore, we must stop misusing our time so that we will not miss our portion. Beloved, stop wishing and start working.

Proverbs 22:29 (KJV)
*Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.*

*THOUGHT FOR THE DAY*🤔: When the mind is made up, anything is possible.

Many years ago, I had a programme at Kogi State University, Anyigba, Kogi State, Nigeria. And in the programme, I was supposed to preach in the evening on Tuesday, morning and evening, on Wednesday and Thursday.

Now, I had a very hectic schedule the previous week. And on the Tuesday which the Programme at Anyigba was to kick off, after I had ministered in our weekly Tuesday Healing and Deliverance Service (in Abuja) which ended at 2pm that day, I thought of how I could spend an average of four hours on the road from Abuja to Kogi State. I imagined how rough the road was. Then my body told me to reschedule the meeting. So, I picked my phone and called the pastor in Anyigba that I would be coming for the programme the next day and that someone else should stand in my place to preach that Tuesday evening. I told him how I had a very hectic schedule the previous week and that I needed a little rest after the Healing and Deliverance Service that day. He said, “Alright sir. We will be expecting you tomorrow sir”. Then, I asked him how everything was going, and he said, “Everything is fine. People have been coming to the venue of the program since noon. The hall of the meeting is jammed with people already”.

When he said that people had started gathering since noon that day for a programme which was supposed to start at 6:30pm and that the venue of the programme was already jammed with people, the tiredness in me died. All of a sudden, my mind saw how possible the journey could be.

Then I left Abuja for Anyigba and arrived at the venue of the programme before the evening of that day.

Beloved, when the mind is made up, anything is possible.

*Remember this*💡: “When the mind is made up, anything is possible”.

*1. Make up your mind on any good thing you want to do and do it.*

*2. Refuse to be tempted to give up on what you have decided to do.*

*3. Ask God to strengthen your will and decision to obey Him* .

*PRAYER*🙏🏼: O Lord, I thank You for Your Word to me today. I ask that You strengthen my will and decision to obey You always, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

*QUOTE*: “Accountability imparts discipline and caution. And the lack of accountability encourages spiritual waywardness”. Culled from “WHO ARE YOU?” by Dr Paul Enenche.

*DAILY READING📖: Matthew 27-Mark 1*

*AMAZING FACT*😳: The Nile crocodiles’ jaws can apply 5,000 pounds of pressure per square inch – the strongest bite of any animal in the world. A human’s jaw produces 100 pounds of pressure per square inch in comparison. A crocodile’s bite is 10 times more powerful than that of a great white shark.

*PROPHETIC DECLARATION/WORD*🔊🌧️: Receive a renewed mind for greater possibilities in Jesus’ Name
