Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
John 4:34

*Bible Reading: Deuteronomy 8:1-3*
1All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers.

2 And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.

3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.

Food is very important and part of our existence as human beings. Even before God created man, He had created the thigs that Adam and Eve would eat. From this we see that eating food is not ungodly. In fact, as part of God’s instruction to Adam, he told him what was available for Him to eat. Genesis 2:16 says:

“And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:”

Nevertheless, man’s existence does not depend solely on food. Adam and Eve failed to realize this when the tempter came to dangle the forbidden fruit before them and they fell headlong for it. No wonder the Lord took the Israelite through the rigors of the wilderness for forty years, to teach them that man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of His mouth. This session is so critical that even the first test Jesus faced in the wilderness of temptation was based on it (Matthew 4:1-4). All this happened so we can learn from it.

Amazingly, although food may appear basic and ordinary, it can lead to a man’s downfall. A good example of this is Esau, who sold his birthright for a plate of pottage (Genesis 25:29-34). We must therefore open our ears to learn from the Holy Spirit when He speaks to us on food. In Deuteronomy 8:3, He says man shall not live by bread alone. In other words, bread is part of the things that man needs to live, but this bread must come by a process that follows the pattern of God’s word and meets its standards. This is why Jesus Christ refused to turn stone into bread when the devil asked him to (Luke 4:3-4). He showed us that food is good but it must follow the dictates of God’s word and not be influenced by the devil’s suggestions. Thank God that the Second Adam overcome the mistakes of the first Adam.

Many Christians have shipwrecked their faith because of food and drink, failing to heed that Lord’s warning in Matthew 6:25, which says:

“Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?”

Or course, the answer to the Lord’s question is obvious: life is more than meat. This is why it is foolishness to eat the food of death, since the essence of food is to keep us alive in the first place. We must not live by bread alone. In all we do, we must continually look out for the perfect will of God and avoid anything that will send us to hell. May the Lord grant you understanding of this in Jesus’ Name.

Father, please give me the understanding of your word, so that I may live by it and be blessed.

Deuteronomy 25-27
Ezekiel 13:20-14:11

• Deeper, deeper in the love of Jesus
Daily let me go;
Higher, higher in the school of wisdom,
More of grace to know.

Oh, deeper yet, I pray,
And higher every day,
And wiser, blessed Lord,
In Thy precious, holy Word.

• Deeper, deeper, blessed Holy Spirit,
Take me deeper still,
Till my life is wholly lost in Jesus,
And His perfect will.

• Deeper, deeper! though it cost hard trials,
Deeper let me go!
Rooted in the holy love of Jesus,
Let me fruitful grow.

• Deeper, higher, every day in Jesus,
Till all conflict past,
Finds me conqu’ror, and in His own image
Perfected at last.

• Deeper, deeper in the faith of Jesus,
Holy faith and true;
In His pow’r and soul exulting wisdom
Let me peace pursue.

SCRIPTURE: For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking,”marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Matthew 24″:38-39

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Do not get ready,”live ready!

Events around us in the world today confirm that we are at the very end of time as prophesied in the Scripture (Matthew 24). You don’t need to look very far to know that the end of the age is already at hand.

Now, what are the signs that make us to know that we are at the end of time?

1. The Abundance of Iniquity (Matthew 24″:12). We live in the world where there is a multiplication of iniquity.

2. Deficiency of Passion or Love for God (Matthew 24:12). It is obvious that some Christians who were on fire for God before are gradually losing their fire.

3. Reduction of spiritual Strength (2 Timothy 3:1). Now,”there are Christians who stay without fasting or study of the Word; praying is a challenge, and they are comfortable.

4. Abundance of Unbelief (Rom. 11″:20). Many people do not believe that the end is near. Many do not believe that heaven and hell are real.

5. Existence for Pleasure (1 Tim. 5:6). Many people exist just for fleshly pleasures and vices – immorality,”armed robbery, kidnapping, etc. The flesh has become the god of many people.

6. Blindness to the Reality of Eternity (Matthew 24″:38-39).

Many people are living as if everything starts and ends in this world; they are not conscious of the end,”neither are they of eternity.

Beloved, having known that we are obviously in the end time, my counsels are”:

i. Refuse to be a victim of the season. Refuse to be swallowed up by the plague of the end time (Matthew 24:38-39).

ii. Watch your life. Be on your guard (Matthew 24:42,”1 Corinthians 12″:12).

iii. Live ready (Matthew 24:44). Do not get ready,”live ready in everything you do.

Remember this”: Do not get ready,”live ready!

1. Avoid the life style of sin and make demands on God to help you live for Him.

2. Live with the consciousness of eternity every day.

PRAYER: O Lord,”draw me closer to Your Heart. I receive the grace to please You in everything I do, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

Understanding your desires (4)

Tuesday 9th July 2019

‘Take up [your] cross and follow me.’ Mark 8:34 NIV

God is a desire-creating, desire-satisfying God. Birds want to fly because God created them to do it. Dolphins want to swim because God created them with an instinct to swim. God doesn’t plant wrong desires in us. When Adam first saw Eve, he discovered he had a strong desire for her. Where did that desire come from? God. God actually delights in fulfilling your desires.

Now, some of your desires get distorted by sin and need to be cleansed, purified, and retrained. This is what Jesus refers to when he says, ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me’ (Mark 8:34 NIV). We must say no to desires that would keep us from living in the flow of God’s Spirit. We must always be ready to sacrifice a lesser desire for the sake of living a greater life. On the other hand, nothing makes a human being more vulnerable to temptation than a joyless life. If God removed all your desires you wouldn’t be human. A slab of cement doesn’t have to worry about weeds growing on it, but it will also never be a garden.

God’s plan is that every time we experience an authentic desire – a God-implanted desire – we come to understand more deeply what a good God he is. We learn how he has wired us and what he wants us to do in life, and as a result we find ourselves loving him more and more. That’s why the Bible says, ‘Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man whotrusts in him’ (Psalm 34:8 NKJV)!

*God’s Promise of Peace and Protection*

_2 Thessalonians 3: 16, Isaiah 54:17_
_Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all. *No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD._

God is watching over you. His peace and protection are more guaranteed and highly superior to that which the world can ever offer to anyone, Psalm 127:1. The Angels of God are encamping around you, Psa. 34:7. Elisha said fear not: for they that are with us are more than they that are with them, 2Kings 6:16. No weapon formed against you shall prosper, Isa.54:17. In John 14:27 (AMP), Jesus said, “peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” [Stop aliowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowa rally and unsettled.]

God’s thoughts for you are thoughts of peace and not of evil, Jer. 29:11. Think thoughts of peace. When the word peace is used in the Bible, it refers to health, rest, welfare, wholeness and prosperity.

As you keep your mind focused on God, He will keep you in perfect peace, lsa. 26:3. You will experience perfect health, rest, welfare, wholeness and prosperity. As you grow in your knowledge of Jesus, God’s grace and peace upon your life will continue to multiply and increase, 2 Pet. 1:2. Stop over thinking that situation and stop allowing worry to envelope your mind. Cast your cares unto God because He cares for you, 1 Pet. 5:7. Refuse to be anxious about any situation. Pray about it with faith and thanksgiving and God’s amazing peace will protect your heart and mine? in Christ. In Romans 16:20 the Bible says, “And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen”.

Faith Declaration:
I am safe and secured by God. It is well with me. I have perfect health, rest, welfare, wholeness and prosperity.
