THEME: THE HERITAGE OF GOD.
Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. 1 John 3:1
READ: Romans 8:14-17
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
The word “Heritage” refers to a cherished property or inheritance, having special architectural, historical or natural qualities and values. It reveals the sense of history, personality, importance, authority and worth of a people or Nation. It is therefore not surprising that God commanded the Israelites to document historical events, Covenants, laws and Commandments that formed their heritage in order to preserve them forever (Exodus 17:14, Exodus 34:27, Deuteronomy 11:20). God and His kingdom also have heritage. The people of God in all generation are the heritage of God (Psalm 94:5). The Bible therefore refers to the Israelites, the Church of Christ, and little children as God’s heritage (Joel 3:2, 1 Peter 5:3, Psalm 127:3). Since a heritage refers to assets of monumental value, the Lord’s heritage is therefore something very precious to be protected and watched over with all diligence. This should give you an idea of your worth to God as a Christian.
In the beginning God created us in his own image and for His pleasure, but man later fell from grace and became a slave to sin. In His mercy, God to approached the slave market and repurchased us by offering the precious blood of Son, Jesus, as ransom for us. By this heavy investment, God has secured a double claim of ownership over us: as the beautiful work of His hands, and as His adopted children, bought with the precious Blood of Jesus. Little wonder the Holy Spirit in 1 Peter 2:9 describes those in Christ in these terms:
“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;”
All of mankind have the opportunity of becoming God’s children through faith in Jesus Christ, who came into this world to redeem us from sin and Satan over two thousand years ago. As you celebrate His birth this season, remember what He came to do and do not let it go to waste in your life. Jesus came to manifest the nature of God and demonstrate His character to us, so that through His example we can imitate the ways of our heavenly Father in our daily lives. Those who live their lives in this manner, under the saving grace and lordship of Jesus Christ, are those considered to be God’s Heritage. Just as human beings spare no expense to preserve their heritage, God can go to any length to preserve those that are His heritage. Are you part of God’s heritage?
Abiding in an environment of accountability prevents character erosion.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Proverbs 20-22

HYMN 9: IN CHRIST ALONE.
1. In Christ alone my hope is found,
He is my light, my strength, my song;
This Cornerstone, this solid Ground,
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My Comforter, my All in All,
Here in the love of Christ I stand.
2. In Christ alone! – who took on flesh,
Fullness of God in helpless babe.
This gift of love and righteousness,
Scorned by the ones He came to save:
Till on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied –
For every sin on Him was laid;
Here in the death of Christ I live.
3. There in the ground His body lay,
Light of the world by darkness slain:
Then bursting forth in glorious day
Up from the grave He rose again!
And as He stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me,
For I am His and He is mine –
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.
4. No guilt in life, no fear in death,
This is the power of Christ in me;
From life’s first cry to final breath,
Jesus commands my destiny.
No power of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand:
Till He returns or calls me home,
Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand.

‘I would have lost heart, unless I had believed.’ Psalm 27:13 NKJV
David was a giant killer, a psalm writer and Israel’s most popular king. But when the stresses of life brought him to his breaking point, he wrote, ‘I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living’ (Psalm 27:13 NKJV).
Are you at your breaking point today? When you get to that place, one of two things happens: you either break down or break through! It all depends on what you do. David experienced a breakthrough because he knew the right formula: ‘Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart’ (Psalm 27:14 NKJV). There’s an old saying – ‘The same sun that melts the butter hardens the clay.’ When trouble comes, you can turn against God because you’ve served him faithfully and don’t understand why he’s permitting you to go through such a hard time, or you can turn to him for the answer! Nothing catches him off guard, and nothing is too hard for him. He said, ‘I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done, saying, “My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure”‘ (Isaiah 46:9-10 NKJV).
You may be in a state of shock right now – but God isn’t. Your circumstances can actually become a platform for him to demonstrate his unfailing love and care for you. So don’t lose heart; he’s going to bring you through this storm and bring glory to his name in the process.

The Art Of Observation
The hearing ear and the seeing eye, The LORD has made them both. Proverbs 20:12 NKJV
It is the express will of God that you succeed in all your endeavours, and your success should be according to His unlimited capacity and not your limited capacity. From Prov 4:18, you can deduce that there’s no graduation in the school of success, rather, you are to keep improving from one level to another. There is one secret that is critical if you want to move from an ordinary level of success to an exponential level of success. It is one indispensable quality in the lives of all highly successful people on earth today. This quality is so essential that even God emphasized its necessity to all that desire to do His will in life. But as important as it is, it remains a secret because not many people have mastered the art of using it to their advantage and this is why many have not attained success while some have not been able to improve on their present level of success. Perhaps you are wondering what that secret is: it is observation!
Friends, if you want to succeed greater, faster and better, then observation is the key. All great men are keen observers. Success will not be difficult if only you will learn to observe. Observant people pick lessons every where they go and from whoever they come close to. Observation will help you to learn faster and grow wiser.
You mustn’t wait to be taught everything in life, that will slow your pace and reduce your chances. Learn by observation. Keep your ears and eyes open and your mind receptive in order to learn quickly in life. Those who wait to be taught everything can hardly succeed in life because they will miss chances and make terrible and costly mistakes.
With observation, you can learn within a minute what someone has spent years to learn. Observation will help you to avoid all avoidable errors and deal wisely when handling life issues. Please never walk the streets of life with your mind and eyes closed. Lack of observation is the reason why we have a lot of literate but not enlightened people today and is the reason why a lot of people fail in their endeavours. What have you learnt that nobody taught you? What do you do when you are around people who have succeeded more than you do? What do you know about your boss that he never told you?
Who are you observing?
Who are your heroes?
Please know that there’s no success without a reference. If you can’t observe in life then you have inadvertently placed a great limitation on yourself. Be observant.
Heavenly Father, thank You for the wisdom that came through Your Word today, I ask that You give me eyes that see, ears that hear and a mind that is open to constant learning in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen.
KEEP IN MIND
Success is not difficult if only you can observe.

Alive By The Spirit
Pastor Chris Oyakhilome PhD
But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you (Romans 8:11).
What we just read in the verse above isn’t a promise; it has already happened! Your physical body, your previously deathdoomed and death-prone body, has been rejuvenated and vitalized by the Holy Spirit who lives in you. So, your life is from the Spirit, sustained through the Word. 1 Peter 1:23 says, “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.” God gave birth to us by the Word, through the Spirit.
The blood that’s flowing through your veins isn’t what’s keeping you alive. But why is the blood important? First, it testifies of man’s humanity. Leviticus 17:11 says, “For the life of the flesh is in the blood….” Therefore, the redemption of man had to be by the shedding of blood, the blood of Jesus—life for life! Now that He gave His life for us to have His life, the life of your flesh is no longer your blood, but the Spirit.
Remember, He was raised back to life without blood, yet He wasn’t a Ghost. He said to His disciples after His resurrection, “Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have” (Luke 24:39 NIV). Notice He didn’t say, “flesh and blood”; the resurrection life doesn’t require blood to function, and that’s the life you have in you.
It’s the reason no sickness or disease can ravage your body, because sickness and disease attack the blood, to destroy the body. But thanks be unto God! John 1:12-13 says, “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” Have this consciousness and live above this world; above sickness, disease and the corrupting forces of this present world of darkness.
I live by the power of the Spirit that raised Christ from the dead. That power revives and vitalizes my physical body and produces life in me. I’m a life-giver, having been born after Christ, who is the lifegiving Spirit. Hallelujah!
“And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God.
2 And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God.
3 And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.
4 Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.
5 And after that I looked, and, behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened:
6 And the seven angels came out of the temple, having the seven plagues, clothed in pure and white linen, and having their breasts girded with golden girdles.
7 And one of the four beasts gave unto the seven angels seven golden vials full of the wrath of God, who liveth for ever and ever.
8 And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his power; and no man was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues of the seven angels were fulfilled.”
