You Need Personal Evaluation

Examine and test and evaluate your own selves to see whether you are holding to your faith and showing the proper fruits of it. Test and prove yourselves [not Christ]. Do you not yourselves realize and know [thoroughly by an ever-increasing experience] that Jesus Christ is in you–unless you are [counterfeits] disapproved on trial and rejected? 2 Cor 13:5 AMP

A wise man once said ” an unexamined life is not worth living”. Has it ever occurred to you that no student is eligible to be promoted to the next class without passing the exam of the present class. As a matter of fact, every student is subjected to nothing less than two to three series of exams before proceeding to the next phase of his academics. This must be done to test or prove the knowledge of the students and anyone that fails will need to repeat the cycle again. Likewise one of the ways you as an individual can measure your life to see if you are actually making progress is to embrace the wisdom of personal evaluation or examination. This you ought to be doing from time to time but it is much important that you separate time to do this now, as you are about to close a year to enter another one.

God’s Word says you should examine yourself whether you are still in the faith because it is possible you have drifted off the path of faith and you didn’t know. It is possible you’ve backslidden; it is possible you have wasted the whole of 2019 on mere frivolities; it is possible you were full of mere activities but you achieved little or no results; it is possible you were not at the centre point of God’s will for your life; it is possible you were the reason for the issues you’re having in your family; it is possible it was your incompetence or foolishness that led to your dismissal; it is possible you’re just making motion without corresponding progress and you didn’t know. This is why you must take time to evaluate your life.

Beloved, you mustn’t fall into the trap of assumption, the only way 2020 will be better than 2019 is that you evaluate your life in the light of God’s standard for your life, the values that drive your life and the goals you set for yourself at the beginning of this year. Solomon said “ponder the path of thy feet and establish thy going” (Pro 4:26KJV).

You may even need to ask your spouse, your children, your parents, your Boss at work and people around you to help you rate your performance and attitude and you must take their appraisal with a sincere and humble heart. This undoubtedly, will help you to make amends where necessary and you set yourself on the path of improvement. Only by doing this can you make the coming year more glorious and rewarding than this year. You must also ask God to show you areas where you might have missed it or where you need to make some drastic changes and He will answer you. This is not to condemn you but to help you get better and be at the centre of His will for your life always. Above all make sure you embrace an attitude of gratitude to God for His mercies and involvement in your affairs all through the year 2019. Good Times Better Days for you and all your loved ones in Jesus Name.

[12/31, 7:58 AM] 919063: This year – get out of your rut!

Tuesday 31st December 2019

‘You have skirted this mountain long enough.’ Deuteronomy 2:3 NKJV

A biologist experimented with what he called ‘processional caterpillars’. He lined up caterpillars on the rim of a pot that held a plant so that the lead caterpillar was head-to-tail with the last caterpillar, with no break in the parade. The tiny creatures walked around the rim of the pot for a full week before they died of exhaustion and starvation. Not once did any of them break out of line and venture over to the plant to eat. Food was only inches away, but their follow-the-crowd instinct was stronger than the drive to eat and survive.

The same thing happened to an entire generation of Israelites. They walked in circles in the wilderness for 40 years, even though they were only kilometres away from the Promised Land.

If you’re in a rut today, ask yourself these three questions: (1) Is this rut of my own making? We choose a rut because it’s comfortable and requires no risk. And getting out of it requires courage and a willingness to make tough choices you follow through on. (2) Who am I following? We adopt certain patterns because someone has taught them to us directly, or by example. Instead of mindlessly following the crowd, seek God’s will for your life and commit yourself to doing it. (3) Where am I going? The Bible says, ‘Where there is no vision, the people are unrestrained’ (Proverbs 29:18 NAS). If you want to get out of the rut you’re in today, ask God to give you a vision for your life – he will! And when he does, pour yourself into it.
