[1/12, 7:39 AM] 919063: He can help you to stand

Sunday 12th January 2020

‘To him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand.’ Jude 24 NAS

Pick friends who respect your values; otherwise, you will end up under pressure to compromise your convictions to maintain their friendship. That’s too high a price to pay! Joseph said no to the sexual advances of his boss’ wife, and there’s a lesson for you in his story.

There are people in the workplace who may push every button and probe every weakness you have, in order to bring you down to their level. And if they succeed, they’ll attack you rather than appreciate you. What should you do? Turn to God for help! ‘[He] will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it’ (1 Corinthians 10:13 NKJV). When someone seeks to compromise your character, God promises to ‘make a way of escape’ so you don’t have to succumb to temptation. Even if your decision results in your being penalised, alienated or terminated, ask God for courage to do the right thing. His promise to you is: ‘Those who honour me I will honour’ (1 Samuel 2:30 NKJV).

Remember, it’s better to be alone and walk with God than give in to temptation, violate his Word and compromise your convictions by ‘going along to get along’. When you stand tall and do the right thing, you bring honour and glory to God. Jude writes, ‘to him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand… God our Saviour, through Jesus Christ our Lord,be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever’ (Jude 24-25 NAS).

“But by the grace of God I am what I am…” I Corinthians 15:10a

“Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us.” ~ Abraham Lincoln. This is the state of many people and nations, today: Self-Sufficient. A conscious recognition of the reality that everything you are and have are products of the grace of God, attracts more of God’s grace. A disregard to this puts you in competition with God; disgrace is the outcome. In Daniel 4, “…the king spake, and said, is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty? While the word was in the king’s mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; the kingdom is departed from thee.”

Grace is a maker, as evidenced in the life of Apostle Paul (I Corinthians 15:10), Esther (Esther 2:17) and others too numerous to mention. When grace makes you, no mistake can unmake you. Grace does not mean less work, it empowers you to labour more abundantly than your contemporaries (I Corinthians 15:10). Never mistake grace for laziness.

Covet grace.

Grace is a maker.

SCRIPTURE: Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them,”seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.

1 Samuel 17″:36

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: God will not allow what will collapse you to confront you; He won’t allow what will finish you to face you.

It is confirmed that we are in a generation with so much commotion,”challenges and confrontations. Some people have even come to believe that commotion is part of life. No wonder in the days of David, he faced a lot of commotions or confrontations. For instance, as young as David was he battled Goliath (1 Samuel 17″:41-54). David was also literary on the run for his life. A death sentence was passed on him – King Saul wanted to kill him by all means (1 Samuel 19:1).

Now,”David must have complained like most Christians do today, ‘Why all these battles? God does not like me? Where did I go wrong? What did I do? I pray, I pay my tithe, I am doing everything God said I should do, yet God allowed all these battles to confront me.’ But I think God may have whispered into his ears, ‘David my son, in all these things you are more than a conqueror’ (Romans 8″:37).

Beloved,”God will not allow what will collapse you to confront you; He won’t allow what will finish you to face you. So, that commotion in your life is a set up for your promotion. It was in confronting Goliath that David’s destiny opened up.

God is turning your life around this season, in Jesus’ Name.

REMEMBER THIS”: God will not allow what will collapse you to confront you; He won’t allow what will finish you to face you.

1. No matter what you may be passing through,”never murmur against God or think that God does not love you. Don’t ever think God is against you!

2. In the face of confrontations or contradictions, develop a dogged faith, trust and confidence in God.

3. Know that inside that situation is your promotion.

PRAYER”: Lord,”I thank You because You won’t let what will conquer me to confront me. You won’t let what will finish me to face me. I receive the grace never to bow to the confrontations of life. Let my current trial set me up for my triumph in life O Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

QUOTE: God did not call you to kill you; He called you to colour you. God didn’t call you to mock you,”He called you to make you. Culled from 365 Wisdom Capsules by Dr Paul Enenche
