[1/15, 6:26 AM] 919063: Try Less and Trust More!

Wednesday 15th January 2020

‘He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion.’ Philippians 1:6 NIV

If you want God’s will to be done in your life, don’t rush things. Sarah, Abraham’s wife, did: as a result Ishmael was born, and that brought all sorts of strife and family complications. Remember: ‘Flesh gives birth to flesh but the Spirit gives birth to spirit’ (John 3:6 NIV), so be sure your plans are conceived by God’s Spirit. Don’t try to salvage anything flesh-based. God said, ‘My covenant I will establish with Isaac’ (Genesis 17:21 NKJV). Isaac was born as a result of God’s will, done God’s way, in God’s time.

Everything that’s conceived in you comes from one of two sources: the flesh or the Spirit. So be careful. People will try to involve you in all kinds of schemes to promote yourself. God doesn’t need anybody’s help to bless you; he can do it all by himself! That’s why whenever Satan attacks you, you need to be able to point him to your spiritual birthplace and remind him that you didn’t begin this project and you don’t have to finish it.

‘He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion’ (Philippians 1:6 NIV). And here’s another thought. If God’s dealing with you about carnality, pride or some other obstacle in your path, don’t resist, don’t run and don’t get in his way. Like a drowning man frantically trying to save himself – until you stop flailing around God can’t do anything for you. So the word for you today is: ‘Try less and trust more!’
[1/15, 6:26 AM] 919063: Walk In The Spirit

But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his (Romans 8:9).

There’re Christians who are still easily controlled by the dictates of the flesh and its senses. So, always, they pray, asking the Lord to help them overcome the flesh with its affections and lusts. But that’s a contradiction, because the Word says, “… those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires” (Galatians 5:24 NKJV). What you’re supposed to do is live the Word.

God’s Word reveals your identity, heritage, origin and ability in Christ Jesus; it’s a mirror. Your responsibility is to accept the picture of you that the Word projects, and live accordingly. We read in our opening verse that you’re not in the flesh, but in the Spirit. That’s the declaration of God; that’s how He sees you. Your recreated human spirit is perfected in Christ; so, what then? Galatians 5:16 states what you’re supposed to do and the result: “…Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.”

You’re to walk in the Spirit because you’re born into the realm of the Spirit; you live in the Spirit; that’s your life now! The reason some still find themselves struggling with unhealthy desires and habits is that they’re not walking in the consciousness of who they are in Christ; they’re not walking in the Spirit. How do you walk in the Spirit? It doesn’t mean floating in the air; it means walking in the light of God’s Word; walking in the light of who you are in Him.

Now that you’re born again, set your appetite on the things of the Spirit. If you find yourself lusting after or desiring the things of the world, you ought to say, “No, that’s not who I am; I’m the righteousness of God in Christ; my spirit is clean; I’m a new creature. I thirst and yearn after God and His Word only. My affection is set on things above, not on things in the earth.” Hallelujah!

Dear Father, I thank you for giving me the ability to comprehend who I am in Christ. I’m born of the Spirit and yielded to the Spirit, to do your will and walk in your light. My life is the expression and manifestation of your righteousness, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Further Study:

Romans 8:1-2
“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.”

Romans 8:5-9
“For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.”

Galatians 5:25
“If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.”

[1/15, 6:26 AM] 919063: *DAILY MANNA*

*TEXT:* EXODUS 6:1-13.
_*🔑KEY VERSE* “And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, and gave them a charge unto the children of Israel, and unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt” (EXODUS 6:13)._

Those who face small problems in life often receive small answers from the Lord. It is only when the challenge is great that an opportunity comes for God to do great things; prove Himself by exercising His great power; and fulfilling all He has promised. It is at such a time that He shows that He is the Almighty.

As things got from bad to worse for the Israelites, so God stiffened His resolve to bend the iron will of Pharaoh. He assured Moses that Pharaoh’s resistance would collapse after experiencing the strong-arm tactics of God. Then he will be forced to drive the Israelites out of his land. He urged the Moses not to despair; reaffirming His lordship over all men. He also introduced Himself to Moses as Jehovah – the one who is the “I am that I am.” He recounted His covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and His promise to give the Israelites their own land in Canaan, make them His own people and be their God.

God’s faithfulness does not change with the passage of time. What He had said to their forefathers many years earlier would be fulfilled in their time; whether they believed it or not. But this was not comforting enough when Moses spoke to them again because of the anguish of their spirit. In spite of their unbelief, God brushed aside Moses’ feeble protestation and sent him back to Pharaoh with the same message.

What God looks out for in us is that we do not give up. Setbacks may have arisen, turning people away from receiving His word, yet like Moses, we must continue to receive God’s message. Rather than focus on our problems or the solution we expect from Him, we should focus on the faithful God Himself. We must trust Him even when our situation seems impossible.

*✍THOUGHT FOR THE DAY* Obedience counts most when success appears slim.

God’s only solution to those facing humanly unsurmountable challenges

1. Despite the prophetic ministration and mediation of Moses, the intensity of the anguish of Israel increased v9.
2. Israel, like many facing challenges, “must” pass the blame on someone, who in this case was Moses vv9,10.
*Should Moses had been blamed?* *Does it mean his prophetic ministry has failed?*
Have you ever passed through challenges that make you feel the promises of God are failing and the prophesy of the prophets are no more reliable?
*Lord*, whatever I pass through in life, I will continue trusting you and your word and will not put the blame on any, including your servants🙏
3. The prophet himself could not hide his frustration and he “must” indirectly blame someone for it; in this case God the Sender v12.
*Lord*, whenever it appears that your prophesy is failing over my life, I will continue putting my confidence in your word🙏
4. What did God do to address these “embarrassing” situations?
5. He only repeated His word, His promises and His faithfulness to His name to show that their only solution still lied with faith in His word vv3-8.
*Lord*, teach me to always put my faith in your name and your word at difficult times🙏
6. His name is Jehovah, a covenant keeping God who will never fail even when it appears the world is tumbling v3.
7. Every believer must learn to read His word and promises, take His word at face value, believe His word and have faith in His name. God does not have any other answer to any man who comes to Him for solutions. Only believe and keep on believing without wavering. The miracle may not come at the time you envisage, but it will surely come at His time. He knows the best time and He will never be late. God of covenant will never be a Covenant breaker.

*HYMN* Great is Thy faithfulness

“Great is Thy faithfulness,” O God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.
“Great is Thy faithfulness!” “Great is Thy faithfulness!”
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided—
“Great is Thy faithfulness,” Lord, unto me!
Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above,
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Matthew 5:4

READ: Amos 6:1 (KJV)

6 Woe to them that are at ease in Zion, and trust in the mountain of Samaria, which are named chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel came!

To mourn is to be grieved by an occurrence. It means to be so concerned about something that deeply affects your emotions.

Jesus in our memory verse today is saying that mourners are blessed. Are you a mourner? Are you grieved by the state of things in this world or are you indifferent?

Sin is becoming normal in our world today and it is unthinkable that anyone will not mourn about this. Even the Church is now striving hard to be like the world.

Didn’t the Bible say “Be ye separate” (2 nd Corinthians 6:17)?

Do you mourn for the next generation? Social Media has exposed our children to all sorts of perversion these days and even teenagers are now well versed in sexual activities. Do you mourn that thousands are dying due to religious wars, and even little children are now being used as suicide bombers? Do you mourn for the state of things in this world? Psalm 34:18 has this to say:

“The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.”

If you are a mourner, what are you doing to make things better? How many souls have you preached to in the last one week? How many teenagers do you mentor, whether physically or virtually? Are you pursing a political position so that you can make a change in your own way?

At my age, I travel all over the world, trying to get as many people as I can to see the love of Jesus and accept Him into their lives. Today, I see many men of God, younger and stronger than I am, enjoying the comfort of their cities and the privileges of being the ‘man of God’ when souls are perishing!

I weep for this generation, not just because of those doing evil, but because of the indifference of Christians who should be making a change.

The encouragement is that Jesus said those of us who mourn will be comforted. I wish we could have more mourners in this generation.

Do not be one of those who are at ease in Zion.

Father, deliver this generation from the corruption of the devil in the mighty name of Jesus.

Job 40-42,

1 Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer to Thee;
E’en though it be a cross
That raiseth me,
Still all my song shall be
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer to Thee.

2 Though, like a wanderer,
The sun gone down,
Darkness comes over me,
My rest a stone;
Yet in my dreams I’d be
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer to Thee.

3 There let me see the sight,
An open heaven;
All that Thou sendest me,
In mercy given;
Angels to beckon me
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer to Thee.

4 Then, with my waking thoughts
Bright with Thy praise,
Out of my stony griefs
Bethel I’ll raise,
So by my woes to be
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer to Thee.

SCRIPTURE:“ And David spake to the men that stood by him,”saying, What shall be done to the man that killeth this Philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? for who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?”

1 Samuel 17″:26

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Every Goliath is a set up to steer you up to your next level in life.

Daring what others dread simply means doing with boldness and courage what others avoid out of timidity and cowardice. It is facing what others fear.

Our anchor Scripture makes it clear: despite the many years of war experience King Saul and his Army Generals had,”they were humiliated and humbled by Goliath because they dreaded him too much to dare him. It took the fearlessness of a boy called David to face and eliminate the Goliath that others feared. While everyone avoided Goliath like a plague, David ran into Goliath in defence of the Name of the Lord and His people. And that fearless act did not only deliver the Israelites but changed David’s level forever.

Please understand this”: Every Goliath is a setup to steer you up to your next level in life; therefore,”to avoid the Goliath is to forfeit the next level. If your destiny must be outstanding, doing what others avoid must be your secret. To function like others, is to end like others. The difference between the destiny of David and those of his brothers was in his determination to dare what they dreaded or avoided.

A wise man once said, ‘If you will run in an opposite direction from other people, you will get opportunities that they will not get.’

Beloved, do what others avoid in order to achieve what they cannot achieve.

You shall make it, in Jesus’ Name.

REMEMBER THIS”: Every Goliath is a setup to steer you up to your next level in life.

1. Make up your mind to do what others avoid even when it is not be convenient.

2. Never join the crowd in the wrong direction.

3. Ask God at the place of prayer for the spirit of boldness to take audacious steps that can change your level.
