*TUESDAY, JANUARY 21 2020*

*WATCH YOUR TONGUE!*
*TEXT:* ISAIAH 3:1-12.
_*🔑KEY VERSE* “Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him; for they shall eat the fruit of their doings” (ISAIAH 3:10)._

George Jones, a songwriter, in his piece scripted, “You can’t do wrong and get by; no matter how much you may try; Nothing hidden can be, everything he doth see; you can’t do wrong and get by.

The principle of cause and effect has always been a reality. Those who sow to the wind always reap the whirlwind. The Bible is replete with individuals who brought curses and punishments to themselves by wrong use of their tongue. The children of Israel spent 40 years in the wilderness instead of 40 days on the journey to the Promised Land because of their sin and unbridled tongue. Also, for careless utterances and rebellion, Korah and 250 men of Israel were swallowed up as the earth opened its mouth (Numbers 26:10). Michal, David’s wife, remained barren all through her life because she did not apply her tongue wisely.

God’s judgement against such sins did not stop with the Old Testament people. He visited many with His wrath in the New Testament; such punishments are still being meted out to those who trade such pernicious paths today. In every dispensation, God has not hidden His displeasure against sin. Our text says that Jerusalem and Judah fell; they were overrun by the enemies because of their evil doings and wrong use of their tongue.

Believers are warned to refrain from any act that attracts God’s punishment. They must be wary of rash criticisms and sins that attract His displeasure. While He punishes sinners, he abundantly blesses those who walk in His ways. He does not use the same brush to tar different roads, if they are not similar. While He punished Jerusalem and Judah, on one hand, on the other, He said, “Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.”

*✍THOUGHT FOR THE DAY* You can’t afford to be a new creature with an old mindset.

*COVER TO COVER* EXODUS 17-19.

*MEDITATION*

Does God still judge modern man like in the Bible days or has grace changed God?

*1. Some Old Testament Judgements*
a. Economic crunch and hyperinflation vv1,6,7.
b. National disintegration due to civil and global wars vv2,3,8,9.
c. Mass emigration of skilled labourers while their country is left with inexperienced and unskilled workers vv2-4.
d. Moral and cultural breakdown vv5-7.
e. Incompetent and inexperienced rulers are their leaders v12.
f. As there are national judgements, so are individual/family/community judgements for individual/individual/community sins.
*Ask* God for His mercy on your country because of sins🙏
*Ask* God to always deal with you in mercy and not wrath🙏
*Ask* God to shut up all the voices crying judgement against your life and destiny by the blood of Jesus🙏
*2. Has God changed?*
a. Grace has not changed God, He is still immutable Psalm 102:27.
b. The judgement in this dispensation of grace is more more severe Hebrews 12:25,29, 10:26-31.
c. God *is* a consuming fire Hebrews 12:29.
d. Justice is part of the uncompromising nature of God just as love and righteousness Jeremiah 9:24.
*e* The problem is that when the judgements come in different shades and form, only few see God behind it.
*3. Believer’s security* vv10,11.
Righteousness pays at all times. In the midst of divine judgment on a nation or community, the righteous are always protected from evil, present or future.
*Give Praises* to God because He is a God of justice🙏

*HYMN* Just Obey, Just Obey

Verse 1
Just as God who reigns on High
Spake to men in days gone by,
So the Lord is calling men today;
And, my brother this is true,
Whatso-e’er He says to you
There is but one thing to do, just obey
*Chorus*
Just obey, just obey,
Is the way, God’s way;
When His message comes to you,
There is but one thing to do,
Just obey, just obey
Verse 2
If you’re in the Saviour’s hands,
You must do as He commands,
For there is no other gospel way;
Never put the message by,
Never stop to reason why,
When the Saviour speaks to you, just obey
Chorus
Just obey, just obey,
Is the way, God’s way;
When His message comes to you,
There is but one thing to do,
Just obey, just obey
Verse 3
If for mansions fair you sigh
In that land beyond the sky
After time with you has pass’d away;
Tho’ the way you may not see,
Christ is calling ”Follow Me”
Faith and duty both will cry just obey
Chorus
Just obey, just obey,
Is the way, God’s way;
When His message comes to you,
There is but one thing to do,
Just obey, just obey

TOPIC ✨ DIVINE ACCESS ✨

…who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this? (Esther 4:14)

There’re people in this world that God has placed to give access to others; access to wealth, to power, to resources, etc. He has ordained someone to be your access, and you may never have that access except through that person. This is because, in working with men, in blessing men, He uses other men.

Take for instance in 1 Kings 17:9 (ASV), God said to Elijah, “Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Sidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow there to sustain thee.”*_ It was a time of severe famine and if Elijah was going to have any more food, it was going to come from that woman. Elijah could go anywhere else, if he chose, but if he was going to walk in God’s perfect will for that moment, it had to be through that woman.

For the woman, Elijah was her access for her next level. She was in abject penury, and if she was ever going to come out of that squalor, it would be her connection to Elijah. Through Elijah, she was in turn sustained and went from penury into prosperity (read the entire account in 1 Kings 17). That’s not all; when her son fell ill and died, she got a miracle; the young lad was raised back to life by the prophet, Elijah.

Likewise, the children of Israel remained as slaves in Egypt, until Moses responded to the call of God to bring them out. Moses was their access. Jesus Himself was our access to the Father’s presence and He knew it. He said, “…No one comes to the Father, but by me” (John 14:6 RSV).

Recognize those you’re to give access, and be prompt to do what the Lord has placed in your heart to do for their benefit or advantage. Also, recognize those the Lord has placed in your path to give you access, whether in ministry, your work, career, politics, etc. It’s a principle in the Kingdom of God, and you have to understand it.

CONFESSION
I’m the answer to the cry of many and a solution to my world! The eyes of my understanding are flooded with light to recognize and give access to those the Lord has placed in my path, and I’m both spiritually and financially well capacitated to fulfil this purpose. Likewise, I recognize and take full advantage of those that have been empowered by God to give me access to my next and higher level in my work, ministry, etc., in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

[1/21, 5:28 AM] 919063: Stand on God’s Word (1)

Tuesday 21st January 2020

‘I am ready to perform my word.’ Jeremiah 1:12 NKJV

When you are facing danger. David said: ‘This I declare about the Lord: he alone is my refuge, my place of safety…my God and I trust him. For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armour and protection. Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day. Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday. Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you…If you make the Lord your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you up…so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone…The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honour them. I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation”‘ (Psalm 91:2-16 NLT).

Note the phrase, ‘This I declare about the Lord.’ When you speak God’s Word over your life, yourelease the power contained in it. So stand firm today, and expect God to honour his Word!

TOPIC: FROM THE BOSS TO THE BOX

A boss is simply a person who oversees and directs the work of others.

But there is what is called,”‘The Boss Mentality.’ The Boss mentality in this context is the mentality given to pomposity, arrogance and domineering disposition that is bankrupt of humility. It is the point where a person feels there is none like him and no one can advise him anymore. The ‘Boss Mentality’ is a syndrome in our generation that has brought many people down from the ‘boss’ position into the ‘box realm’ thereby fueling their eventual crash in life.

Nebuchadnezzar, for instance, crashed out of his throne on the platform of pride. Daniel 4″:30-37.

Please take note of this: To avoid the crash of destiny,”you have to refuse the ‘Boss mentality.’ It was Bishop Abioye who aptly said”: “To act like a boss is to end in the box.”

The truth is,”the struggle for status or titles many times is the reason for a bossy lifestyle. And to struggle for status is to end as a statue. Don’t struggle for titles; rather, struggle for task; there is no entitlement in titles but in the task.

Beloved, the ‘boss mentality’ according to God’s servant, Bishop Oyedepo, is a limiting mentality. It is a plastic and not an elastic mentality; it is a mentality that seeks to use, mis-value and undervalue people. Such mentality has no future either with God or with people.

REMEMBER THIS”:‘To act like a boss is to end in the box’; to struggle for status is to end as a statue.

ASSIGNMENT (S):

1. Repent of any bossy lifestyle you may have exhibited before now.

2. Discard the ‘boss mentality’ from your life.

3. Treat people well including those who work under you.

For Further Understanding,”Get This Message”: Workplace and Career Wisdom Part 2
