[2/8, 5:37 AM] 919063: Practise being kind

‘Clothe yourselves with…kindness.’ Colossians 3:12 NIV

Since the people we deal with every day notice what we wear, the Bible says, ‘Clothe yourselves with…kindness’ (Colossians 3:12 NIV). But sometimes kindness is the last thing on our minds. Think about how often you’ve passed a motorist stranded on the road and didn’t stop or even offer to call for help. Or you allowed the business and pressures of work to make you curt and short with others.

We need to be like the young man who worked in the produce section of a supermarket. His first day on the job, a lady approached him, wanting to buy half a head of lettuce. He tried to dissuade her, but she persisted. Finally he said, ‘I’ll have to go back and talk to the manager.’ He walked to the rear of the shop, not realising the woman had followed him. When he found the manager, he said, ‘There’s a silly old lady out there who wants to buy half a head of lettuce. What should I tell her?’ Seeing the horrified look on the manager’s face, the boy turned around, saw the customer, regrouped, and said in his most gracious voice, ‘And this nice lady wants to buy the other half.’ Sometimes when you pay someone a compliment, they’ll say, ‘You’re too kind.’ But what they really mean is, ‘Say it again.’

After Confederate General Robert E. Lee retired from the military, he became president of Washington College in Lexington, Virginia. One day a new student came into his office asking for a copy of the rules and regulations. The old general replied, ‘Son, we don’t have a rule book. Our only rule is kindness.’ So today, practise being kind.

Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. Mark 9:23

READ: Mark 11:22-24

22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.

23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

As we have seen from yesterday’s study, some Christians have little faith, and of course, they would not believe miracles can happen through them.

How I wish that the crowd at the Holy Ghost Services of the RCCG in Nigeria would have great faith to go out and start performing miracles. What a great revival that would bring! Jesus did not give the right to perform miracles to only a set of Christians, He said in Mark 16:17 that it is for believers.

“And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;”

Do you believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that He came to die for our sins? Do you believe that He is coming back soon to take His children to Heaven? If your answer to both questions is ‘yes’, then you are a believer. Therefore, you are fully qualified to work miracles. Don’t be afraid, just go ahead and pray, then leave the rest to God.

A long time ago, when my faith was not as strong as it is today, whenever someone came to me for prayers, I would just pray and expect miracles to happen later. One day, a woman came for prayers with her child who was about ten years old and had been dumb from birth. As I began to pray “In the name of Jesus….” The child said “Amen”. I nearly jumped out of the window- I was that afraid. There I was, not expecting an immediate miracle but before I even prayed, it had happened.

Imagine if I had stopped praying after trying a few times without seeing any instant miracles. The truth is that no great ‘miracle evangelist’ was so from birth; rather, he/she continued praying for people even when the results were not obvious, then one day, the miracles started happening. If you are a true believer, the *power* to work wonders is already in your hands, just go ahead and pray. If you pray for one person and nothing happens, pray for the next. Just keep praying, the miracles are coming.

Don’t stop praying for people; your days of working miracles are closer than you think.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Exodus 28-29

1. There shall be showers of blessing:
This is the promise of love;
There shall be seasons refreshing,
Sent from the Savior above.

o Refrain:
Showers of blessing,
Showers of blessing we need:
Mercy-drops round us are falling,
But for the showers we plead.

2. There shall be showers of blessing,
Precious reviving again;
Over the hills and the valleys,
Sound of abundance of rain.

3. There shall be showers of blessing;
Send them upon us, O Lord;
Grant to us now a refreshing,
Come, and now honor Thy Word.

4. There shall be showers of blessing:
Oh, that today they might fall,
Now as to God we’re confessing,
Now as on Jesus we call!

5. There shall be showers of blessing,
If we but trust and obey;
There shall be seasons refreshing,
If we let God have His way.

*Text: “Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food and multiply your seed sown….” 2 Corinth 9:10*

Everything God does begin from a seed. The conception of a child started from the seed of a man. A great Oak tree began from a seed. The largest forest you have ever seen started from a tiny seed.
Hidden in every seed is the potential of a great future. A casual look at a seed may not reveal that, but embedded in it is all it needs to become a “forest”. If we are not careful we may overlook and despise what could come out from a seed. Every time we destroy a seed we are actually destroying a forest.
None of us was born empty. We all came with abundance of seeds. There are potentials, gifts, abilities, talents that God has given each one of us to produce a lifetime of harvests in our lives. Like every other seeds what you have may not look so significant but if you’ll place value on it and place it in the right environment your life will emerge extraordinary.
Just as seeds don’t grow well in every environment so also the gift of God in us needs the right environment to grow. Right books, Right friends, Right Church.
The value you place on what you have is the value other people will place on it. What you have has a global mandate on it. God can give you an idea that will reach the ends of the earth. An idea comes in a seed form. Don’t despise it, its God introducing you to a world of possibilities.
Everything about you is a seed. If you’ll cooperate with the Spirit of God he’ll open your eyes to see things in your life you can sow for a great harvest-future. Look out for opportunities to release the seeds you have, if you hold it back you have deprived yourself of a future harvest.

I’m a warehouse of seeds. There is so much hidden in me. I’ll become all I was born to be. I have all I need in life within my spirit.

[2/8, 5:38 AM] 919063: Today’s SOD – 2020-02-08

SCRIPTURE: By much slothfulness the building decayeth; and through idleness of the hands the house droppeth through. Ecclesiastes 10:18

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Where people are lazy,”life can never be easy.

Diligence is another key to destiny fulfilment. The place of diligence to destiny fulfilment can never be over-emphasized. The possibilities of life are accessible by diligence, but where people are lazy, life can never be easy.

Jacob was a typical example of a diligent worker; he forced himself into destiny fulfilment on the frequency of diligence. Genesis 31″:38-41 confirms that Jacob worked day and night; he was too diligent to be frustrated by his wicked uncle,”Laban. Diligence was the only way Jacob could survive and succeed despite the wickedness and crookedness of his employer. At a point, he had to physically paint woods to determine the colour of the offspring the flocks were to bring forth because that was the next condition of service. He wearied out Laban by work; the cheating attitude of Laban could not work against Jacob. He worked his way out of Laban’s crookedness (Genesis 30″:37-38).

Now,”let us look at some facts about diligence”:

1. Diligence brings eminence (Proverbs 22:29).

2. Diligence brings excellence (Daniel 6:1-3). To work hard is to stand out. Hard work brings high flight.

3. Diligence brings affluence. Hard work is the cure for hard life. Jacob became affluent by diligence (Genesis 30:25-27,”43).

4. Diligence forbids decadence. Nothing is permitted to decay where there is diligence. It is indolence that breeds decadence (Ecclesiastes 10″:18).

5. Diligence facilitates providence. It facilitates the fulfilment of your Divinely ordained plans and purpose. God is a Worker; Jesus is a Worker (John 5:17). So,”God loves those who love work.

Beloved, make up your mind to be diligent in everything you do.

REMEMBER THIS”: Where people are lazy,”life can never be easy.

1. Have a schedule of your daily activities and have a personal assessment at the end of each day.

2. Refuse to company with lazy people.

3. If you are trusting God for what to do,”start doing something no matter how little it is.

PRAYER: Lord,”I receive the grace to be diligent in everything I do. I refuse to waste my life. Bring me into eminence through diligence and excellence, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

DAILY BIBLE READING”: Deuteronomy 27-30

QUOTE: If nothing is keeping you busy,”and you are not projecting towards your tomorrow, you begin to expire. Culled from 21 FOOLISH THINGS PEOPLE DO by Dr Paul Enenche.
