Use hospitality one to another without grudging. I Peter 4:9

READ: 1 Peter 4:9-10

9 Use hospitality one to another without grudging.

10 As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

The central message of Christianity is love, so much so that when Jesus was asked what the greatest commandment was, He answered:

“…..Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.This is the first and great commandment.
And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. ” Matthew 22:37-40

Hospitality is the duty of every Christian and in fact, should be our way of life. See every encounter you have with people as an opportunity to show forth the love of God. Help people. You should never be rude or unaccommodating to anyone, God expects you to be hospitable to anyone you come across. In Genesis 18:17, God who says He wouldn’t do anything without first telling His friend Abraham did not send angels to him directly. He only asked them to take the route through Abraham’s house at the time he would be outside. He expected that Abraham would call the angels in and host them. Being a true child of God, he did not disappoint his Father. Imagine, he hosted angels! (Genesis 18:1-16)

Many Christians have missed their blessings because they were not as hospitable as they should have been. That sweaty fellow you did not offer a bottle of water could have been the key to your prayers being answered. Many of us are hospitable to our guests, which is good, but we can actually do better. Have you considered the widow on your street, the beggar on your way home and other disadvantaged people around you?

I must add that hospitality is not limited to giving out material things. It could also be shown through warmth and friendliness to people- a word of encouragement or just a smile. From today, decide to be a true Christian and be hospitable to everyone you come across. God will bless you for it.

God wants you to be hospitable; don’t disappoint Him.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Leviticus 14-15

1. Nearer, my God, to Thee, nearer to Thee!
E’en though it be a cross that raiseth me,
Still all my song shall be, nearer, my God, to Thee.

o Refrain:
Nearer, my God, to Thee, nearer to Thee!

2. Though like the wanderer, the sun gone down,
Darkness be over me, my rest a stone;
Yet in my dreams I’d be nearer, my God, to Thee.

3. There let the way appear, steps unto Heav’n;
All that Thou sendest me, in mercy giv’n;
Angels to beckon me nearer, my God, to Thee.

4. Then, with my waking thoughts bright with Thy praise,
Out of my stony griefs Bethel I’ll raise;
So by my woes to be nearer, my God, to Thee.

5. Or, if on joyful wing cleaving the sky,
Sun, moon, and stars forgot, upward I’ll fly,
Still all my song shall be, nearer, my God, to Thee.

6. There in my Father’s home, safe and at rest,
There in my Savior’s love, perfectly blest;
Age after age to be nearer, my God, to Thee.

SCRIPTURE: In that day their burden will be lifted from your shoulders,”their yoke from your neck; the yoke will be broken because you have grown so fat. Isaiah 10″:27 (NIV)

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: A healthy spirit conquers adversity.

The spirit of man is what determines how he handles infirmities the enemy directs against his life. A healthy and vibrant spirit conquers adversity. So,”it is the size and vibrancy of your spirit that determines the potency of your authority. It is impossible to have a strong spirit and exist in affliction and oppression.

For instance, when children are about two years old, there is a particular cloth size that they can wear. But when they grow older, maybe about five years old, they cannot wear those clothes anymore no matter how sympathetic they are with them. And no one can impose the clothes on their bodies because their body sizes have grown beyond them.

In the same manner, you can grow your spirit to a point where your spirit will outgrow any affliction attacking your flesh.

This is a more permanent deliverance because if a man of God with a superior anointing prays and destroys the yoke over your life, and the conditions under which that yoke was destroyed is not being maintained, the yoke can still reoccur. But if you outgrow the yoke, even if you are in the midst of one billion witches, you will remain delivered because your spiritual size has changed. So, you can outgrow that cancer, barrenness, HIV, witches and wizards etc.

Beloved, my counsel to you is”: fatten up your spirit-man by spending time in praying,”studying the Word of God, and listening to “fire-full” messages so you can outgrow any affliction in your life. Determine to maintain a vibrant spirit in order to live above demonic afflictions and infirmities.

Remember this”: A healthy spirit conquers adversity.

1. Do what the counsel on the text says.

2. Refuse to gratify the lust of the flesh.

3. Avoid carnal-minded association.

PRAYER: Lord,”I receive the grace to build up my spirit-man. Let every yoke in my life be broken, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

*Text: “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report.” Heb 11:1-2*

By the help of the Holy Spirit today I want to introduce you to something we’ll be looking at in a couple of days. Please fasten your seat belt as we delve into the subject of faith afresh. I’m sure you will be inspired.
Life is a journey and it will require the operation of faith to truly travel this journey. The journey into destiny is purely a journey of faith. The only means of getting into God’s great destiny for our lives is by faith. There will always be reasons in the natural, in the economy, in medical reports etc that wants to slow us down or completely hinder the fulfilment of God’s destiny for our lives. But by faith we can choose to live above the circumstances of life. There may be challenges, delays, disappointments, health issues and so on along the journey of life but none of them should be a reason for failure.

*1. Faith is not a passive word but an active word –* We don’t just wait for things to change, we engage faith to change things.

*2. Faith is never hidden, it’s always demonstrated –* Faith is demonstrated in the steps we take and how we respond to life.

*3. Faith is not a silent force, but a speaking force –* Faith is majorly expressed by saying something. Faith requires that we speak out in agreement with God.

*4. Faith is not a sitting force but a doing force*
In the next couple of days we’ll be looking closely at this subject from different perspectives. This is an aspect of our lives that needs constant attention. The level of your faith can never be too much. The more your faith grows the better for you.

My faith is growing and triumphant.

[2/18, 5:40 AM] 919063: Winning life’s battles (2)

Tuesday 18th February 2020

‘We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.’ 2 Chronicles 20:12 NIV

Second, admit your own inadequacy. The only people God can’t help are those who don’t think they need his help. King Jehoshaphat said, ‘We have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you’ (2 Chronicles 20:12 NIV). Often our eyes are on everything and everyone – except God – the one who can solve our problems.

Your circumstances are like a mattress: if you’re on top you can rest easy, but if you’re underneath you can suffocate. Keep your eyes on the Lord and you’ll win out over your circumstances. Remember, it’s ‘not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord’ (Zechariah 4:6 NIV). You can’t live the Christian life in your own strength because you have a power shortage. You need the power that comes from letting God’s Spirit live through you. Try to imagine a glove. On its own, it is limp and powerless. But once a hand fills that glove it becomes useful and effective.

Jesus said, ‘You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you’ (Acts 1:8 NKJV). Jesus often spoke of the Holy Spirit as ‘the Helper’, so when you don’t know what to do, stand on his promise: ‘The Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name…will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you’ (John 14:26 NKJV). If you fight in your own strength, you’ll lose. But when you draw on the power of God’s Spirit that’s within you, you’ll win.
