SCRIPTURE: Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers,”in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. 1 Timothy 4″:12

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: To follow the people of the world and do what they do is to jeopardize your life and destiny.

Some time ago,”someone told me a very sad story”: A Christian brother who lives abroad sent Twenty Million Naira to a fellow Christian brother in Nigeria to build a house for him. After a while,”this Christian brother living abroad decided to return to Nigeria to see the house his fellow Christian brother had been receiving money to build for him. When he arrived, he was hoping to stay in the house that was built for him but he met the shock of his life. He discovered that there was no house or even an uncompleted structure standing anywhere. So, he had to start sleeping in hotels. What a deceitful and wicked conduct!

Now, when you meet this kind of heartless people on the highway, you would take them for a thief. But what do you call a person with the kind of behaviour that was just described seeing that he calls himself a Christian and he is in Church?

Beloved, if you are a Christian, someone’s heart should be at rest when they are dealing with you financially. Even when you are given One Billion Naira by someone to do a job, that person should not lose sleep. You should be faithful and accountable enough to do what you have been asked to do with the money you were given and even return the balance of the money however small or big it is. That is integrity. That is authentic Christianity. I will like you to know that both God and our conscience are watching what we do. To be influenced by the society and compromise your right standing with God is to end in the way of the world. To follow the people of the world and do what they do is to jeopardize your life and destiny. But that will not be your portion in Jesus’ Name.

My counsel is, refuse to be influenced by the people of the world. Let the Word of God be your standard in life. Be an example of the believers in Christ Jesus.

Remember this”: To follow the people of the world and do what they do is to jeopardize your life and destiny.

1. Make up your mind to be a genuine and authentic Christian.

2. Do not follow the way of the people of the world.

PRAYER: Lord,”I receive the grace to be a genuine and authentic Christian. Help me not to follow the ways of the people of the world, Lord in Jesus’ Name.

[4/29, 5:58 AM] Pastor Emmanuel Oshevire: OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL

But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye. Acts 4:19

READ: Romans 8:35-39

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

An obsession is an excessive devotion to someone or something, even to the point of personal loss, injury or death. The word is often applied in a negative sense, but the Bible tells us that Jesus loved and obeyed God to the point of obsession. The word of God counsels us to develop the particular kind of mind that was in Christ Jesus. Philippians 2:5-8 says:
“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus….. being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.”

Jesus during His earthly ministry loved God and was obedient to His commandments even to the point of death- an excruciating death on the cross. God therefore expects all His children to follow Christ’s example by loving Him with all our being. If you have ever been so deeply and passionately in love with someone to the point of obsession, you may lose your appetite and forget to eat, your mind may become occupied with nothing else but that person. This kind of positive obsession is hinged on love. Matthew 22:37-38 has this to say: “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment.”

Therefore, we are enjoined to first and foremost love God with all our hearts, because we need to have the love of God before we can truly appreciate what love is and then reciprocate by showing love to others. 1 John 4:7-8 says: “Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.” As Christians, we must obsessively love God with all our being, and always radiate His love to our neighbors.

Father, please give me the grace to love You with all my heart, with all my soul and with all my mind, in the Mighty Name of Jesus.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalm 102-104.

1. I am so glad that our Father in Heav’n
Tells of His love in the Book He has giv’n;
Wonderful things in the Bible I see,
This is the dearest, that Jesus loves me.
o Refrain:
I am so glad that Jesus loves me,
Jesus loves me, Jesus loves me;
I am so glad that Jesus loves me,
Jesus loves even me.

2. If I forget Him and wander away,
Still He doth love me wherever I stray;
Back to His dear loving arms would I flee,
When I remember that Jesus loves me.

3. Oh, if there’s only one song I can sing,
When in His beauty I see the great King,
This shall my song through eternity be,
“Oh, what a wonder that Jesus loves me!”

4. Jesus loves me, and I know I love Him;
Love brought Him down my poor soul to redeem;
Yes, it was love made Him die on the tree;
Oh, I am certain that Jesus loves me!

5. If one should ask of me, how can I tell?
Glory to Jesus, I know very well!
God’s Holy Spirit with mine doth agree,
Constantly witnessing Jesus loves me.

6. In this assurance I find sweetest rest,
Trusting in Jesus, I know I am blest;
Satan, dismayed, from my soul now doth flee,
When I just tell him that Jesus loves me.

[4/29, 6:03 AM] Pastor Emmanuel Oshevire: MESSAGE FROM:

*Rev. Anthony Akinmoyo,*
Lifeway Christian Centre,

FOCUS: *Spiritual Weapons* (Part 4)

4. *Fasting*

Matthew 6:17-18 (KJV)
[17] *But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;* [18] *That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.*

The scripture emphasizes that our lives have been programmed to include prayer and fasting in order to fulfil our glorious destinies in Christ Jesus.
It is a God-ordained weapon for our total turnaround. Fasting should not be seen as a religious routine but a period of deep communion with God via studying and meditation of the word and fervent prayer.

Fasting is self denial for a spiritual purpose. This is mandatory for every child of God from time to time because it brings us into an intimate relationship with God. Fasting helps our spirit to be in tune with the Spirit of God. It is meant to build up our spirit man in order to handle difficult situations and issues of life.

Mark 9:29 (KJV)
*And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.*

When Jesus said, *”…this kind can come forth except by prayer and fasting,”* He meant, we need more anointing and unction to deal with such situation. Fasting should not be seen as a punishment but a channel of deep communion with the Father. We don’t fast to impress God or beg Him. He does not need to be persuaded before He answers, if all other things are in place. Also, fasting cannot change God for He remains the same forever.

Fasting is our spiritual responsibility to walk in power and authority. The first Adam missed all that God provided for him because of food and he was sent out of Eden. The second Adam (Jesus Christ) overcame the temptation of food. He completed His fast and won back the lost glory. You will not miss it in Jesus mighty name!

Ecclesiastes 10:17 (KJV)
*Blessed art thou, O land, when thy king is the son of nobles, and thy princes eat in due season, for strength, and not for drunkenness!*

Esau the eldest son of Isaac lost his birthright because of his love for food.

Genesis 25:31-33 (KJV)
[31] *And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright.* [32] *And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?* [33] *And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.*

Esau gratified his appetite just for one day and he lost his place of destiny. Let us arise and take up spiritual responsibility, I will suggest at least once in a week for every child of God. You can start with that and from there you can grow into more days in a week to build up your inner man. Life will not give you what you deserve but what you demand by power and authority. We must not eat away our precious destinies. We will be doing more exploits on purpose and benefits of scriptural fasting tomorrow.
