TOPIC: CHARACTER FOR THE GLORY
SCRIPTURE: Who is like unto thee,”O Lord, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders? Exodus 15″:11
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Character is living not just for the immediate but for the ultimate.
There is an irretrievable connection between glory and character. The character of a person determines the quality of his life on earth and in eternity. Our anchor Scripture clearly points out the implication of Godly character (holiness) on gloriousness. We see that if a life must be glorious,”it must happen on the platform of holiness. No one can see the gloriousness of God except he operates in holiness. Therefore, nothing can be glorious without character.
A man of character lives an open life like an open book (Acts 24″:16). If you are a person of character,”who you are publicly is who you are privately. A man of character exists with a positive conviction, not for consensus. Character involves a purposeful existence, not pleasurable existence. Character is living not just for the immediate but for the ultimate.
A man of character will sacrifice today’s gain for tomorrow’s profit. He knows what it means to delay gratification. Character means living thoughtfully instead of thoughtlessly. You weigh your options and embark on the most profitable course of action, profitable for time and eternity.
Please understand that your character is more important than your reputation.Your reputation is what people think of you, but your character is who you are. So, it is possible to have a positive reputation with a negative character. Your greatest focus should be in the development of your character. Reputation will take care of itself once character is taken care of.
Beloved, my counsel is, work on your character. Fact is, character is not a destination but a journey. This means you can be better today than you were yesterday as you work on your character.
REMEMBER THIS”: Character is living not just for the immediate but for the ultimate.
1. Embark on a character study of notable people in Scriptures and take deliberate steps and actions to emulate them.
2. Avoid sin or anything that will defile your conscience.
PRAYER: Lord,”I ask for the grace for character improvement. Grant me the grace to live according to Your will and purpose for my life, Lord in Jesus’ Name.

[5/11, 5:47 AM] Pastor Emmanuel Oshevire: OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL
DATE: MONDAY 11TH MAY 2020.
THEME: THE VISIONARY CHRISTIAN I.
Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. Proverbs 29:18
READ: Habakkuk 2:1-4
1I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved.
2 And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
4 Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.
If a Christian is visionary, his/her pilgrimage on earth becomes bearable. It is a clear vision of heaven that will make a child of God see nothing enticing in the present world as compared to the anticipated eternal bliss.
“Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.” Proverb 29:18
From the verse above, we can infer that the lack of vision about the reality of hell is what makes people carefree about the coming judgment on the ungodly. If God were to show a person a vision of heaven as Jesus described in Matthew 13:44-46, he/she would do everything possible to get there.
In Habakkuk 2:1-4, the prophet was eager to get divine vision and take instruction even if it required reproof. Fortunately, it was for his good and for those who would read it with understanding. It ended up as a warning against pride (which leads to destruction) and words of encouragement towards faith (which brings justification).
According to Psalm 53:1, it is only a fool that says there is no God. It is pride that makes an individual think that he knows better than God. Psalm 53:2 says it takes a visionary individual to seek God, especially in times like these, when everything seems to be against godliness.
It was a divine vision that ensured Noah and his household were saved from the flood (Hebrews 11:7). It is the same vision that will keep any Christian focused on holiness without which no man shall see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14).
With a divine vision, we can catch a glimpse of our eternal home like John did in Revelation 21:1-7. If you submit yourself to God, you too would see divinely inspired visions.
Father, please make me a visionary Christian so that I will not lose the vision of my eternal home, in the mighty name of Jesus.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalm 65-67.

HYMN 26: STAND UP, STAND UP FOR JESUS.
1. Stand up, stand up for Jesus! ye soldiers of the cross;
Lift high His royal banner, it must not suffer loss:
From vict’ry unto vict’ry, His army shall He lead,
Till every foe is vanquished, and Christ is Lord indeed.
2. Stand up, stand up for Jesus! The trumpet call obey:
Forth to the mighty conflict, in this His glorious day;
Ye that are men now serve Him against unnumbered foes;
Let courage rise with danger, and strength to strength oppose.
3. Stand up, stand up for Jesus! Stand in His strength alone,
The arm of flesh will fail you, ye dare not trust your own;
Put on the gospel armor, and watching unto prayer,
Where calls the voice of duty, be never wanting there.
4. Stand up, stand up for Jesus! the strife will not be long;
This day the noise of battle, the next the victor’s song;
To him that overcometh a crown of life shall be;
He with the King of glory shall reign eternally.
[5/11, 5:47 AM] Pastor Emmanuel Oshevire: MESSAGE FROM:
Rev. Anthony Akinmoyo,
*Lifeway Christian Centre,*
FOCUS: *Living for God’s Purpose*
Jeremiah 1:5 (KJV)
*Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.*
You are not just born to add to the number of the world’s population or to accomplish your own purpose but to accomplish God’s purpose. We must not just be living for survival: what to eat, drink, clothes to wear, house to live, cars to drive etc. All these are good but there is more to life than all these. In fact, I call it the survival mentality. As we are growing in life we must ask ourselves some basic questions of life.
How did I come into existence?
Why am I here?
Who is my maker?
Why did He make me?
Our ability to find correct answers to these questions will guarantee us a purposeful living. For instance, if you don’t understand your origin, you can never understand your destiny.
Colossians 1:16-17 KJV
 *For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:* *And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.*
The above scripture makes it clear that God is the creator of all things both in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible. It therefore establishes the truth that He created us for himself.
Isaiah 43:21 (KJV)
*This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise.*
He made us for Himself to show forth his praise. We are not here for ourselves but to live for Him who made us. We must concentrate on His plan and purpose and desire to love Him.
However, there are contentions for our souls. The devil and the world system want us to abandon God’s purpose and pursue things that have no eternal value. Under these circumstances, our response to God’s plan and purpose will determine whether we will fulfil God’s purpose on earth or Satan’s agenda. It is my prayer that we will develope a strong relationship with God to the point where we will know Him so well that we will completely commit our trust and lives into His lovely hand.
He died for us that we may live for Him. Therefore, every redeemed of the Lord, every New Testament saint must strive to live for God and for Him alone.
2 Corinthians 5:15 (KJV)
*And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.*
Apostle Paul went further by saying to die is gain but to live is Christ.
Philippians 1:21 (KJV)
*For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.*
Our entire life must be lived for His purpose on earth. As long as you are saved, you are no longer your own but you are of Christ Jesus. You belong to Him. The Father has procured you with the precious blood of His own Son (1Corinthians 6:20).
1 Peter 4:2 (KJV)
*That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.*
We are redeemed to live for Him. God’s ultimate purpose for the redeemed is that those that are saved should bring others or the rest of the world back to Him.
One of the major attributes of living for God and His purpose on earth is willingness to let go of what you have in order to lay hold of what He wants you to be.
Hebrews 11:8 (KJV)
*By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.*
God can distort your plan in order to fulfil His own perfect plan and will for your life. When He called our father Abraham out of the comfort zone of his father’s house and family where he had lived for almost seventy five years, he departed to the unknown land. That is leaving the known to the unknown – That was the beginning of Abraham’s greatness.
1 Corinthians 2:9 (KJV)
*But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.*
It is unimaginable what heights He wants to take us but we must be willing to take the step of faith by following His leading step by step. The walk of faith which always pleases the Lord requires that we must be willing to relinquish our present luxury and comfort in order to respond to His higher purpose and calling for our lives.
Isaiah 1:19 (KJV)
*If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:*
Until you are willing to respond to God’s leading and instructions, you will not be able to fulfil His purpose in your life.
*Thanksgiving and Prayers:*
Beloved, join me to give thanks to the Lord for His faithfulness upon my life as He has added another year to my life today. I am 51years old today.
Psalm 103:2 (KJV)
*Bless the Lord , O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:*
Help me to thank God for enabling me to discover His purpose for my life.
1. Thank you Father for the gift of life.
2. I cannot thank you enough, O Lord receive my praise this day in Jesus mighty name!
3. O Lord my Father, keep me on the path of righteousness to the end in Jesus mighty name!
4. O Lord my Father, keep me in your purpose unto the end in Jesus mighty name!
5. Psalms 43:3 (KJV) *O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles.*
O Lord my Father, continue to send your word to light my way unto your perfect will in Jesus mighty name!
6. Psalm 63:8 (KJV)
*My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.*
O Lord my God, grant me the grace to follow you unto eternity in Jesus mighty name!
7. Psalm 119:116 (KJV)
*Uphold me according unto thy word, that I may live: and let me not be ashamed of my hope.*
O Lord my God, uphold me unto the end, do not allow me to be a victim of satanic manipulations in Jesus mighty name!
8. Joshua 5:9 (KJV)
*And the Lord said unto Joshua, This day have I rolled away the reproach of Egypt from off you. Wherefore the name of the place is called Gilgal unto this day.*
O Lord my God, let every form of reproach around me and my family be rolled away in Jesus mighty name!
9. Nahum 2:1 (KJV)
*He that dasheth in pieces is come up before thy face: keep the munition, watch the way, make thy loins strong, fortify thy power mightily.*
O Lord my God, fortify and defend me against all arrows of the wicked one in Jesus mighty name!
1. Ephesians 1:17 (KJV)
*That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:*
Beloved, help me pray that the Lord will continue to grant me spiritual understanding of His will and purpose unto the end.
2. Ephesians 6:19 (KJV)
*And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,*
Pray that utterance will continue to be opened unto me in Jesus mighty name!
3. Romans 5:5 (KJV)
*And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.*
Pray that the Holy Spirit will continue to release the love of God into my heart.
Thank you Father for the grace to pray and answers to all my prayers.
Receive my thanks and praise in the mighty name of Jesus!
See you tomorrow,
