*Godly exercise part 2*

*Text*: 1 Tim 4:7-8
” _But reject profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise yourself toward godliness. For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come_ .”

As people go to the gym for bodily and physical exercise, you must also visit the “spiritual gym” regularly. Sunday to Sunday church service attendance will not help you to develop spiritually. Waiting on a pastor, teacher or prophet can only guarantee you snacks. Real meal and exercise requires that you gym spiritually.

*# Feed your spirit man regularly #*

An angel said to the prophet Elijah, ” _And the angel of the Lord came back the second time, and touched him, and said, “Arise and eat, because the journey is too great for you._ ”(I Kings 19:7). The journey of life and destiny is far and you cannot survive on what comes from the pulpit once a week. You must arise early in the morning and feed your spirit with the meal from the Word of God. When the devil tempted our Lord Jesus, the Bible says, “But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘ _Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God._ “(Mat 4:4). The Word of God is food indeed, feed on it!

The whole Bible, both the Old and the New Testament is the balanced diet that you require to practice or exercise towards godliness. In the physical, you do not only eat carbs or protein or veggies. You need to have balanced meal so that you can have a balanced health. The same applies to your spiritual life. The Bible says, ” _Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth_ .”( 2 Tim 2:15). This means, a diligent and careful study of the Word of God. Sit down and study the word for yourself, so that you can stand against the pressure of life. The more you study and assimilate the word, the more godly you will become and you will bear more fruit of the Holy Spirit. So, study the word.

Apostle Peter emphasized the study of the word when he compares it with the desire a new born has for milk. The Bible says, ” _as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby_ .” (1 Peter 2:2). Desire to devour the word of God and thus build yourself up in your spirit man.

[7/11, 5:29 AM] Emm: MESSAGE FROM:

*Rev. Anthony Akinmoyo,*
Lifeway Christian Centre,

2 Corinthians 12:9 (KJV)
*And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.*

Life is a journey and your character is a reflection of your eternal destination. It is a picture of where you are going to spend your eternity. There are multiples of temptations along the way. In fact, there is a forbidden tree in the midst of every garden and peculiar temptation in every situation. But God in His wisdom and mercy has provision for us to overcome all temptations and weaknesses of the flesh if we can understand and embrace it. It is called strengthening grace.

*Strengthening Grace*

2 Corinthians 12:9 (KJV)
*And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness…*

This is yet another level of grace that guarantees strength for our weakness. As long as we are still putting on flesh and blood, we can’t run away from human weakness completely but as long as there is continuous flow of this grace to us, we will not be betrayed by such weakness, especially during temptation.

*How To Access It*

A. *Put Your Trust In The Lord*

2 Corinthians 3:4-5 (KJV)
[4] *And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward:*
[5] *Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;*

Never put your confidence in flesh but truly put your trust in God for continuous flow of His grace to help you in the time of need. The scripture says those who put their trust in God cannot be removed by anything.

Psalms 125:1-2 (KJV)
[1] *They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.*
[2] *As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the LORD is round about his people from henceforth even for ever.*

Jesus told Peter that he will deny him, but Peter rebuked Jesus and said he was willing to die with Him but unfortunately when the smallest temptation came, Peter failed his master because his confidence was in the flesh.
*Mark 14:30-31, 70-72.*

Beloved, never make the arm of flesh your confidence but put your trust in the Lord and He will see you through.

1 Thessalonians 5:24 (KJV)
*Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.*

Jeremiah 17:5 (KJV)
*Thus saith the Lord ; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord .*

B. *Approach God For Help*

Hebrews 4:15-16 (NLT)
[15] *This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same temptations we do, yet he did not sin.*
[16] *So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it.*

When you are mindful of your weakness and you don’t cover or hide it from God, but never tired of approaching the throne of grace through prayer of help. God will never allow the temptation to swallow you up. He will always supply the needed strength, also He will show you the way of escape.

1 Corinthians 10:13 (KJV)
*There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.*

Identify your area of weakness and ask the Lord to help you. Some areas of weaknesses are: immorality, love of money, pride, lust, greed, anger, lies, addiction etc. Whatever area you are being challenged, God is willing to help you out if you sincerely call on Him.

> Thank you my Lord for the gift of life and the multitude of your mercies.

> Thank you my God for daily supply of your word to me.

> Thank you my Father for supplying all my needs.

> Thank you my Father for answering all my previous prayers.

> Thank you my Lord for the gift of a lovely family you gave me.

*Text: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16*

The value of a product is demonstrated in what was paid or offered to obtain it. We were sold in sin under the yoke of the devil. The blood of goats and animals were not good enough to redeem our souls. Neither was silver or gold enough to redeem a soul. The scripture tells us “For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sins.” Heb 10:4. So God had to engage the precious blood that was without spot or wrinkle. It was the blood of his only begotten son – Jesus that could satisfy that requirement. This was a demonstration of the value that God has placed upon us. “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.” 1 Peter 1:16-19
The value of a believer is not in the cloths we wear or in the size of our bank accounts. The real eternal value of a believer is in the value of the blood of Jesus. If you don’t see yourself this way one thing or another will make you look down on yourself. Human acceptance is good but it does not determine our value. Ironically in life the value you place on yourself is the value that others will place on you. The best place to derive your value is in Christ.
I have come to tell you today that you are valuable to God. So much virtue should come forth out of your life to bless humanity. The time of hiding is over in your life; it’s time to come forth and become all that God wants you to become. Don’t allow all that God has invested in your life to end up in vain.

I am valuable. There is so much value in me. I’m not defined by my status in life. I’m defined by the precious blood that was shed on me.
