[9/17, 6:59 AM] Pastor Emmanuel Oshevire: *LIFE AND FAVOUR*

*Rev. Anthony Akinmoyo,*
Lifeway Christian Centre,

Deuteronomy 32:45-47 (KJV)
[45] *And Moses made an end of speaking all these words to all Israel:*
[46] *And he said unto them, Set your hearts unto all the words which I testify among you this day, which ye shall command your children to observe to do, all the words of this law.*
[47] *For it is not a vain thing for you; because it is your life: and through this thing ye shall prolong your days in the land, whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.*

The early apostles said they will give themselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word. I believe no believer can fully maximize his inherent potential without wholly embracing the ministry of the word.

Acts 6:4 (KJV)
*But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.*

The scripture admonishes in
Deuteronomy 32:47 *”For it is not a vain thing for you; because it is your life…”.* That is, when you have the word you actually have life. Our Lord Jesus Christ confirmed the same when He said the word is Spirit and life.

John 6:63 (KJV)
*…the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.*

The Word of God is life that vitalises our spirit, soul and body. Job said, *That which I see not teach thou me…* Job 34:32. He acknowledged his need for knowledge and called upon God for help. No wonder he was regarded as the greatest man in the east in his time.

*Four Ministry Of The Word*

2 Timothy 3:16-17 (KJV)
*All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:*
*That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.*

Whenever the Word comes to you, it is meant to accomplish these four things in your life among other things.

> To give you doctrine to follow (lifestyle).

> To reprove you.

> To correct you.

> To instruct you in the way of life.

When these things are accomplished in your life, scripture says that you shall become:
A. *Perfect.*
B. *Be thoroughly furnished unto all good works.*

For any believer to really make impact in life, he must embrace these four-fold ministry of the Word. These will bring about the necessary changes that make for progress and lifting. This will also turn you into a positive role model and a reference point to your generation.

*Do not be deceived out of your Realities in Christ*

2 Corinthians 11:1-3 (LB)

*I hope you will be patient with me as I keep on talking like a fool. Do bear with me and let me say what is on my heart. I am anxious for you with the deep concern of God himself—anxious that your love should be for Christ alone, just as a pure maiden saves her love for one man only, for the one who will be her husband. But I am frightened, fearing that in some way you will be led away from your pure and simple devotion to our Lord, just as Eve was deceived by Satan in the Garden of Eden.*

In our text above, Apostle Paul was passionately expressing how much he wanted the believers’ love to be for Christ alone and he wanted them not to lose their pure and simple devotion to Christ in the same way that Satan deceived Eve in the Garden of Eden. The pure and simple devotion that Apostle Paul is referring to is that he wanted the believers to keep their faith in Christ alone and not in their works or efforts or in anything else. How did Satan deceive Eve? He got her into trying to do something in receive or become what God had already made her. Every time you try to do something in your wisdom or strength to earn what God has already done for you in Christ, you make God angry because you are telling Him that what He did for you in Christ was not good enough. Galatians 3:10-11 (GNB) says, “Those who depend on obeying the Law live under a curse. For the scripture says, “Whoever does not always obey everything that is written in the book of the Law is under God’s curse!” Now, it is clear that no one is put right with God by means of the Law, because the scripture says, “Only the person who is put right with God through faith shall live.” Everything God does for you, He does it because of Christ.

Everything you do must be an overflow or a response or because of what God has done for you in Christ already. The Bible says we should work out our salvation with fear and trembling because God is at work in us making us willing and able to do His good will, Phil. 2:12-13. We can only work out what God has worked into us by His grace. The moment your faith begins to depend on your works and effort you have fallen back into the flesh (Gal. 3:1-5) and have fallen from grace, Gal. 5:4. As you keep your faith in Christ alone you will flourish.

*Prayer Focus:*
Pray for the grace not to be deceived from recognising and activating your realities in Christ.

Say a quiet yes to God and he’ll be there in no time. Quit dabbling in sin. Purify your inner life. Quit playing the field. Hit bottom, and cry your eyes out. The fun and games are over. Get serious, really serious_ *(James 4:8-9 MSG).*

Ephesians 5:15-16 is an apt admonition for us especially in these last days. It says, *“See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise. Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”* The stakes are very high. You can’t live your life carelessly as a child of God. You belong to Jesus Christ; therefore, serve Him with your life. Live for Him.

The Bible says, *“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s”*(1 Corinthians 6:19-20). God has a purpose for your life which you must fulfil. That’s the most important thing for you: discovering your purpose in Him and fulfilling it.

Life isn’t about your personal dreams, plans, aspirations or ambitions. The Bible says, *“Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness”* (2 Peter 3:11). It makes no difference what beautiful structures you see in this world or the earthly fulfilment of men; everything shall be destroyed.

It reminds of King Solomon who built God the most beautiful temple ever. It was greatly celebrated, and of course, God was happy with him and blessed him. But our God doesn’t live in temples made with hands. When they went into idolatry and began to serve Baal, the beautiful temple was destroyed; a resultant punishment for not walking in line with His Word.

God doesn’t care about earthly things. Everything you’ll ever have in this world came from something that was already here, and if that’s true, why don’t you live your life for the One who made all things originally? Serve Him with your life. Get serious, really serious with your service of the Lord.

I was born for the glory of God, to walk with Him and bring Him honour. He planned from the beginning that I should serve Him with my life, and walk worthy of Him, pleasing Him in all things, and fruitful in every good work. This is my passion, pursuit, and purpose every day, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

1 Peter 1:18-19* Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, [as] silver and gold, from your vain conversation [received] by tradition from your fathers; 19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

Ephesians 2:10 AMPC* For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), [a]recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].

1 Corinthians 7:23* Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.

Existence without instruction is existence without transformation; and existence without revelation is existence without revolution.

SCRIPTURE: The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. Psalm 19:1-2

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Existence without instruction is existence without transformation; and existence without revelation is existence without revolution.

It has been confirmed that wisdom is essential for daily living. To live well, you must live wisely. To live without regrets in life, you must live wisely. To live productively, you must locate wisdom for daily living.

Now, another wisdom tip for daily living is being on the lookout for specific direction and instruction for the day.

Our anchor Scripture makes it clear that every day comes with specific instruction(s); every day has something to say. From Psalm 19:1-2, we see that “Day unto day uttereth speech…” This means every day is saying something. There is the speech of the day and the knowledge of the night (Isaiah 50:4).

Many people keep on missing the instructions for the day; they hear nothing for the day. And existence without instruction is existence without transformation. Existence without revelation is existence without revolution.

It is revelation that brings elevation (Galatians 2:2). Each day comes with specific instruction. To access Divine instruction, you open your Bible and read with desperation. Then you ask God, “Lord, what are you saying to me out of these Scriptures?” and He will speak to you from His Word.

Sometime ago, I saw something from the Scripture that revolutionised my mind and life. I have read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation many times, and particularly that Bible verse several times before, but I did not see what I saw until that day.

Let me share it with you: The Scripture is Deuteronomy 9:5-6 which says, Not for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thine heart, dost thou go to possess their land: but for the wickedness of these nations the Lord thy God doth drive them out from before thee, and that he may perform the word which the Lord sware unto thy fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Understand therefore, that the Lord thy God giveth thee not this good land to possess it for thy righteousness; for thou art a stiff-necked people.

When I asked God to speak to me from that Scripture, He said, “First, the way I discarded other nations before I gave their lands to you, I can also discard you, and give the same land to other people if found wanting. Second, if I have given you any place in life, it is possible that someone else should have been in that place but missed it because he failed me. Third, you are not there necessarily because you are perfect. So, everything I am doing with you is not about you, it is about me”. Powerful! Very amazing! It means humility is not a choice; it is compulsory.

When you read your Bible and ask God what He is saying, He will speak to you. You can hear God’s Voice from the Scripture, from someone’s behaviour, and from a scenario or a situation. So, look out for specific instructions and directions for the day. They will give you acceleration in life.

Remember this: Existence without instruction is existence without transformation; and existence without revelation is existence without revolution.

1. Ask God for specific instructions daily.

2. Discern God’s instructions from daily events and situations.

3. Make up your mind to obey Divine instructions.

PRAYER: O Lord, I ask for the sensitivity to discern Your instructions daily. Help me not to miss Your direction, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

QUOTE: In life, if you continue to receive instructions and you do not do them, a time will come when they will no more make meaning to you. Culled from “21 FOOLISH THINGS PEOPLE DO” by Dr Paul Enenche.

DAILY READING: Hosea 10-12

AMAZING FACT: Ants have two stomachs, one for their own food and one to feed others.

PROPHETIC DECLARATION/WORD: Grace to hear His Voice in the verse is released today in Jesus’ Name.
