[10/8, 2:55 AM] Pastor Emmanuel Oshevire: The power of gratitude (2)

Thursday 8th October 2020

‘Rejoice always.’ 1 Thessalonians 5:16 NKJV

Ever find yourself asking, ‘Why me, Lord? How come you don’t answer my prayers? Well-meaning friends tell you to keep your chin up, things will get better, but you can’t see any light at the end of the tunnel. And just when you think things can’t get any worse, you pick up your Bible and read, ‘Rejoice always…In everything give thanks’ (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NKJV), as if you’re supposed to enjoy your situation!

Alexander Maclaren said, ‘Seek to cultivate a buoyant, joyous sense of the crowded kindnesses of God in your daily life.’ The fact is, however, when life overwhelms you the last thing you feel like doing is giving thanks, right?

But as Nancy Leigh DeMoss observes: ‘Unless you just love the way duty feels when it wakes you at three in the morning, or hijacks your plans for your day off, or hands you an unexpected bill that wasn’t in the budget…don’t try living the Christian life without gratitude. By sheer willpower and effort you may succeed at “‘gutting out” right responses, but your Christianity (so-called) will be hollow, hard-edged and uninviting…If all our faith had to offer were words that only fit in a theological textbook, it would be unkind to extend them to someone struggling to survive. True Christ-centred, grace-motivated gratitude fits life’s most desperate moments and difficult situations. When there are no answers, it gives hope. It transforms overwhelmed strugglers into triumphant conquerors…Gratitude is a hard-fought, grace-infused, biblical lifestyle…and [its] transforming power is reserved for those who know and acknowledge the Giver of every good gift and who are recipients of his redeeming grace.’

[10/8, 2:55 AM] Pastor Emmanuel Oshevire: OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL

But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Ephesians 2:4

READ: Romans 9:15-16

For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.

16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

The only reason why you and I are still alive today is God’s mercy. Divine mercy is that important (Lamentations 3:22).

We can rejoice however, that God is very rich in mercy and as a matter of fact, He is the Father of mercies. He gives His mercy to us as a gift every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23. 2 Corinthians 1:3).

His mercy guides you in your journey through life. In His mercy, you meet certain people who help you fulfil destiny; you also avoid certain people or actions that might lead you astray. It is by this same mercy that I joined the RCCG.

I had wanted to travel abroad on a Commonwealth scholarship. After passing the exams, we were tested on dining etiquette. As a boy bred in the village, I dipped the bread we were served in the stew and stuffed it in my mouth. That was the end. I stayed in Nigeria and became a lecturer at the University of Lagos. It was while I was there that I was introduced to the RCCG. It was pure mercy. Exodus 15:13 says:
“ Thou in thy mercy hast led forth the people which thou hast redeemed: thou hast guided them in thy strength unto thy holy habitation.”

God does not need permission from anyone to show you mercy. Romans 9:15 says:
“For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.”

While others may struggle, He can promote you effortlessly. If you ever want to get results, His mercy is the most essential factor.

“But the LORD was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison.”Genesis 39:21

Joseph enjoyed favor with men in the prison because of God’s mercy. If you need anyone to favor you, seek God’s mercy first. He will grant you favor before them in the mighty name of Jesus.

Father, show me mercy in every area in the mighty name of Jesus.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Matthew 12:1-21
Mark 3
Luke 6

1. Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in Thee;
Let the water and the blood,
From Thy wounded side which flowed,
Be of sin the double cure,
Save from wrath and make me pure.

2. Not the labor of my hands
Can fulfill Thy law’s demands;
Could my zeal no respite know,
Could my tears forever flow,
All for sin could not atone;
Thou must save, and Thou alone.

3. Nothing in my hand I bring,
Simply to Thy cross I cling;
Naked, come to Thee for dress;
Helpless, look to Thee for grace;
Foul, I to the fountain fly;
Wash me, Savior, or I die.

4. While I draw this fleeting breath,
When my eyes shall close in death,
When I rise to worlds unknown,
And behold Thee on Thy throne,
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in Thee.

*Rev. Anthony Akinmoyo,*
Lifeway Christian Centre,

1 John 5:18-19 (KJV) [18] *We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.*
[19] *And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.*

Every child of God must take up spiritual responsibility in order not to allow the wickedness of this world to touch him. Conscious effort to develop our spirit man must be taken so as not to frustrate God’s investment over us.

B. *Prayer*

Prayer is a spiritual exercise that shapens and builds up our spirit man to overcome all the manipulations of the wicked.

In addition to having our needs met through prayer, it is also a gateway to the region of supernatural power. No one can ever get to the peak of destiny fulfilment without a measure of power.

In fact, our Lord Jesus trained His disciples for three and half years on the principles of the kingdom but He warned them not to launch out until they were endued with power. They abode together in prayers until they received power via baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Luke 24:49 (KJV)
*And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.*

They prayed themselves unto power and the same is expected of every child of God. Beloved, when you enter into the region of power via prayers with the help of the Holy Spirit, no affliction can overcome you again and you will become a great threat to the kingdom of darkness.

Also, we need power because each day is loaded with evil and we must be daily loaded with power in order to subdue them and be in charge.

Matthew 6:34 (KJV)
*…Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.*

Besides, our inheritance is constantly contended by the forces of darkness, every door God opens for us, there are enemies waiting to stop us. We must be endued with power so as to crush all oppositions to our destiny fulfilment.

1 Corinthians 16:9 (KJV) *For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.*

Beloved, our Father, the Almighty, rules by power and that is expected of us. Bear in mind, power is not a souvenir, when you desire it, go for it.

Psalm 66:7 (KJV)
*He ruleth by his power for ever; his eyes behold the nations: let not the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah.*

> Thank you my heavenly Father for the joy of seeing another beautiful day you have made.

> Thank you my Lord for your mercies and loving kindness towards me and my household.

> Thank you my Father for blessing the works of my hands.

> Thank you my Father for your peace in my life and family.

1. Zechariah 12:10 (KJV)
*And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications…*

O Lord my God, let prayerlessness come to an end in my life in the mighty name of Jesus!

2. Acts 26:22 (KJV)
*Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day…*

O Lord my Father, grant me grace and strength to wait on you in fasting and prayer in the mighty name of Jesus!

3. Micah 3:8 (KJV)
*But truly I am full of power by the Spirit of the Lord , and of judgment, and of might, to declare unto Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin.*

O Lord my God, fortify me with power to crush all oppositions to my progress in the mighty name of Jesus!

4. Job 38:22-23 (KJV)
[22] *Hast thou entered into the of the snow? or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail,*
[23] *Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war?*

O Lord my God, empower me against the day of battle and war in the mighty name of Jesus!

5. Matthew 21:44 (KJV)
*And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.*

i. I decree, whosoever dares my life and family shall break into pieces in the mighty name of Jesus!

ii. I decree, anyone I fall on is grinded into powder in the mighty name of Jesus!

6. Deuteronomy 11:21 (KJV)
*That your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which the Lord sware unto your fathers to give them, as the days of heaven upon the earth.*

O Lord my God, let my life begin to enjoy heaven on earth in the mighty name of Jesus!

7. 1 Kings 8:56 (KJV)
*Blessed be the Lord , that hath given rest unto his people Israel, according to all that he promised: there hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant.*

O Lord my Father, arise and perform all your great promises concerning my life in the mighty name of Jesus!

8. 2 Thessalonians 3:16 (KJV)
*Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all.*

O Lord my God, fill my life and family with your peace in the mighty name of Jesus!

Thank you Father for working exceedingly and abundantly above all that I ask or think.

Receive my thanks and praise in the mighty name of Jesus!

See you tomorrow.
*Rejoice evermore.*
*Pray without ceasing.*

*When the HEAVENS are Opened*

*Text:* Matt 3:16-17
_”When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”_

When the heavens are opened, you will experience:

Open heavens will open you up for divine visitation. Anytime God visits someone, it is always a life changing encounter. It was when God visited Sarah that the promised son was conceived. Gen 21:1-2 says _”And the Lord visited Sarah as He had said, and the Lord did for Sarah as He had spoken. For Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.”_ Divine visitation wipes away the tears of many years. The Bible says, _”…Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.”_(Ps 30:5). When God visits, He turns your night into morning and your weeping to joy.

Ps 65:9, _”You visit the earth and water it, You greatly enrich it; the river of God is full of water; You provide their grain, for so You have prepared it.”_
This verse enumerates what happens when God visits. Number one is that your land will be watered. This means, _”You will be like a tree planted in a well watered land.”_(Ps 1:3, Jer 17:8). When you are well watered,  all will be well with you.
Secondly, divine visitation enriches you beyond measure. When God visits you, He will impact you for good. For whatever God does is always for our good.

Shalom !

[10/8, 6:34 AM] Pastor Emmanuel Oshevire: *SEEDS OF DESTINY*

SCRIPTURE: For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: To deal with fear, you must starve your fear and feed your faith.

Fear has been confirmed to be a deadly enemy of destiny. Yesterday, we saw the various negative impacts of fear on life and destiny.

Today, we shall be looking at how to deal with this enemy called fear.

Now, how do we deal with fear?

i. Curse the spirit of fear.

Fear is a spirit. Behind every manifestation of fear is the spirit of fear. Curse that spirit of fear out of your life for God has not given us the spirit of fear (2 Timothy 1:7).

ii. Starve your fear and feed your faith.

To deal with fear, you must starve your fear and feed your faith. Feed your faith with faith-building passages of Scripture and preached messages. What you listen to determines what you fear or believe. If faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17), then fear goeth by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.

iii. Make Positive Word-based Declarations Continually

The Spirit of faith is communicated by your declarations (2 Corinthians 4:13). Stand before your mirror and declare the Word of God to yourself. Publicly declare what God has revealed to you.

Beloved, do not let fear destroy your destiny; declare the right things all the time.

Remember this: To deal with fear, you must starve your fear and feed your faith.

1. Curse every spirit of fear in your life.

2. Starve your fear by building your faith in God’s Word.

3. Make word-based positive declarations continually.

PRAYER: O Lord, I curse every spirit of fear in my life. I receive the grace to starve my fear by building my faith in Your Word, Lord in Jesus’ Name.

QUOTE: Do not accommodate fear. Culled from “15 KINGDOM STRATEGIES FOR SURVIVAL” by Dr Paul Enenche.

DAILY READING: Matthew 6-8

AMAZING FACT: Even after having its head cut off, a cockroach can still live for weeks. A cockroach’s head can actually survive by itself for a few hours, too.

PROPHETIC DECLARATION/WORD: Every spirit of fear plaguing your life in this season is arrested in Jesus’ Name.
