[8/9, 7:12 AM] 919063: Keep plodding and you’ll succeed

Friday 9th August 2019

‘Dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable.’ 1 Corinthians 15:58 NLT

When William Carey first began considering the possibility of going to India as a pioneer missionary, his father pointed out that he possessed no academic qualifications for the job. Carey answered, ‘I can plod.’ And he did. When he went to India this was his typical day: he arose at 5:45 a.m. to read a chapter in the Hebrew Bible and have private devotions. At 7:00 a.m. he led family prayers in Bengali, read Persian with a tutor, and a portion of Scripture in Hindustani. After breakfast he translated Sanskrit into English. At 10:00 a.m. he went to college to teach until 2:00 p.m., then translated into Bengali until dinner time. After an early supper, he translated into Sanskrit and studied the Telugu language until he preached to an English congregation at 7:30 p.m. About 9:00 p.m. he returned to translating for two hours, wrote to a friend in England, read a chapter from his Greek New Testament, and then finally went to bed. Carey is credited with doing more than anyone else in taking the message of Christ to India and establishing the church there. And he did it because he was a plodder!

Here are two Scriptures plodders stand on: (1) ‘Let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart’ (Galatians 6:9 NKJV). (2) ‘My dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless’ (1 Corinthians 15:58 NLT). These Scriptures could be reduced to five words: keep plodding and you’ll succeed.

[8/9, 7:12 AM] 919063: Today’s SOD – 2019-08-09

SCRIPTURE: Draw nigh to God,”and he will draw nigh to you…. James 4″:8

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Success is only success if it is success in the direction of God.

It is critical to note that every creature is a product of a conceived purpose; God created us for a purpose. And anyone who is not living for the fulfilment of that purpose and destiny is a confirmation of a wasted life. The matter of destiny fulfilment is very crucial to God’s creative agenda.

Today,”we are looking at another factor that confirms that destiny is being fulfilled. How do you know that you are not wasting your life?

The Maintenance of Quality Relationship with God

It has been confirmed that success is only success if it is success in the direction of God. Progress with God is progress indeed, and failure with God is failure indeed, and that is the master of failure.

Matthew 6″:33 says,”But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

The richest man who ever existed in the history of the world, John D. Rockefeller was a man who succeeded with God. No one has beaten his records till today. The money he had at that time in today’s dollar equivalent considering inflation rates is about what ten topmost billionaires would have in our time. He had given a Hundred and Twenty Million dollars to his church at once, and on another occasion, he gave Four Hundred Million dollars.

Beloved, ensure that your career success does not happen at the expense of your spiritual success. Ensure that you truly fulfil destiny. The truth is, there are people who have money but are not fulfilling destiny because no life is touched, no one is imparted or affected, and nothing has changed positively in anyone’s life because the person encountered them.

So, be determined to fulfil your destiny in this world. And I declare to you that no devil can stop you, in Jesus’ Name.

Remember this”: Success is only success if it is success in the direction of God.

1. Start and end your day with God,”and with a clear conscience.

2. Consistently build your life around His Word.

PRAYER: O Lord,”I am nothing without You. Draw me close to You in intimate relationship, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

DAILY BIBLE READING”: Ezra 8:21 to 9:15,”1 Corinthians 5″:1 to 13,”Psalm 31″:1 to 8,”Proverbs 21″:1 to 2

QUOTE: Relationship with God is the most authentic measure of wisdom. To know God and to pursue him,”that is wisdom. Culled from REASON FOR LIVING by Dr Paul Enenche.

AMAZING FACT”: Sloths take two weeks to digest their food.

PROPHETIC DECLARATION/WORD: I prophesy the release of fresh passion for God upon you in this season,”in Jesus’ Name.

DON’T FORGET TO ATTEND”: The Home Church meeting by 6:00pm tomorrow at a Home Church near you. Also invite your friends and neighbours. God bless you as you do so.

[8/9, 7:12 AM] 919063: WISDOM FOR THE DAY
Friday, 9th August, 2019

“He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.”
Luke 16:10 KJV
Today, we remind ourselves of the story of David who was not even remembered by his father, Jesse when Prophet Samuel came to anoint the next king of Israel. In spite of the fact that he was far away at the back side of the desert, he still got the anointing and later rose to become king despite the oppositions. Remember that there was already a king on the throne when he was anointed to be king. How can you be anointed to take up a position when there is no vacancy? Only God has the capacity to turn things around in your favour. All you need to do is ensure that you remain at the place appointed unto you by God. God does not need your help to lift you up.
Why then do you count yourself out when God has counted you in? God does not need you to do any adjustments for Him. He has everything under control. Simply because you want to preach on the pulpit, you fail to fit into where God has put you.  The increase of the Body is dependent on that which every joint is supplying. That’s why I’m telling you that your part is important, and you cannot afford not to play it or to play it down.
Some people want big things, but they are not ready to be faithful in the little. Be faithful in the little, then God will bestow upon you greater things. You don’t have a release until you see where to release it. And as you release, by the law of giving and receiving, you will also receive something inside you. According to Ephesians 4:16: “He maketh increase of the body”; not of the parts.

[8/9, 7:12 AM] 919063: *Above Only Devotional*

Friday, August 9

*Be Continually Watered by God’s Word and Spirit*

_Isa 55: 10-11 (NLT), John 6:63 (NKJV)_
_”The rain and snow come down from the heavens and stay on the ground to water the earth. They cause the grain to grow, producing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry. It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it. *lt is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life._

You are not just a good seed and you are not only planted in Christ. God has provided an avenue for you to be continually watered and refreshed so you can sprout and grow continually. Our first text above shows us that God’s word is like rain and just as rain waters plants and make them grow, God’s word waters our lives and makes us fruitful. The word of God can produce every kind of fruit in your life. Psalms 1:2-3 says when we delight in God’s word and meditate on it day and night, we will be like trees planted by the rivers of water, we will bring forth our fruit in season, our leaves will not wither and whatever, we do will prosper. Your life is from the word of God, 1 Pet. 1:23. The word of God will make you grow, 1 Pet.2:2.

The word of God equips you for exploits. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works”, 2Tim. 3:16. God’s word purifies us. Jesus said, “now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you”, John 15:3. David said God’s word in His heart kept him away from sin, Psa. 119:11. Jesus is the word of God (John 1:1 & 14) and all scriptures point to Him, John 5:39. Keep your focus on Jesus and His grace (all He has done for you) as you study God’s word, Acts 20:32. Let the revelation of Christ dwell in you richly, Col. 3:16. Depend on the Holy Spirit and He will guide you and teach you as you study God’s word.

Father, please fill me more and more with your word. Guide me and teach me more of your word by your Spirit.
