[8/10, 11:01 AM] 919063: To this you were called

Saturday 10th August 2019

‘To this you were called…that you should follow in his steps.’ 1 Peter 2:21 NIV

In the midst of his problems, Job said, ‘He knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I shall come forth as gold’ (Job 23:10 NKJV). Gold is hidden deep in the earth, and it takes hours of back-breaking work removing tons of dirt scoop by scoop to bring it to the surface. Likewise, crucifying the flesh is excruciating and time-consuming, and when you follow Jesus, you give him ‘digging rights’. Satan tries to bury your treasure under memories of past sin and failure, but God keeps on digging because he’s going for the gold!

Joni Eareckson Tada became a quadriplegic after a diving accident. She writes: ‘Often during a single day I’ll have to make twenty-six different adjustments in my wheelchair…sometimes I think I’ll drive me and my friends crazy. That’s when I…remember, “To this you were called because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps” (1 Peter 2:21 NIV). Life’s supposed to be difficult. Jesus said in this world we would have trouble (John 16:33). And that it has been granted – that is…gifted – on behalf of Christ not only to believe in him, but to suffer for him. Sometimes I don’t want that gift, but if Jesus learned obedience through the things he suffered, then I can learn from twenty-six different adjustments in my sitting position. God desires intimacy with us – but on his terms – and those terms require us to suffer as his Son suffered. So next time you get hit broadside with a bruising disappointment, God’s asking you to follow in Jesus’ steps.’

[8/10, 11:01 AM] 919063: WISDOM FOR THE DAY
Saturday, 10th August, 2019

“For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.”
Romans 12:3 KJV
You can think highly of yourself, but don’t think more highly than you ought to. Even though we are many in the Church, we are one Body. One person does not make up the Body. And as you are playing your part, it builds the whole Body. If you are healed, teach somebody how you received your healing. We are a member one to another and we minister one to another. If God gave you a job, teach somebody else how you got it. If God gave you a husband, teach somebody else how to comport herself in order to have a faithful husband. It takes humility to be able to do these things. Many of us will rather prefer to attribute all the blessings to certain qualities which we possess.
Remember the reason why you are a member in the Body is that you are playing a part for the benefit of somebody. Look away from yourself. The word, “ministering” in Romans 12:7 is talking about servants or deacons. These are people who are playing servant roles. The secret of leadership today is that God does not call leaders, He calls servants and servants are made leaders. It is the faithful servants who are made leaders. Jesus said “the Gentiles lord it over their people, but with you in the Kingdom, it is not so. If you will be the leader or the master, you must be a servant of all.” Mark 10:42-45.
I have often said that the only way up is down. And if you will fit into the Body, then you must deny your flesh and strive to be humble. This is, most likely, the most important quality of true leadership. I declare today that you will rise to the height that God has ordained for you.

[8/10, 11:01 AM] 919063: Today’s SOD – 2019-08-10

SCRIPTURE: He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed. Proverbs 13:20

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Who surrounds you determines what you can survive.

We have been on a journey of exploring the factors that confirm the fulfilment of destiny. Previously,”we have seen the maintenance quality relationship with God amongst others. Today, we shall be looking at the sustenance of quality relationship.

It is important to know that the quality of one’s destiny is determined by the quality of his relationships. The people in your life affect the quality of your life. There is something that is worse than the lack of money; it is the lack of quality people. It is a miserable person and a miserable destiny that is empty of quality people.

Those who don’t value people don’t value their destiny. The truth is, no one can succeed in this world without quality people because the world is filled with people. So, a lack of value for quality people equals lack of value for destiny.

When Paul the Apostle was stoned to death in the Book of Acts 14″:20; those he had loved and touched surrounded him,”they stood round about him. They did not say anything, they did not offer a prayer; they just released on him their goodwill, affection, positive touch, and he stood up on his feet.

Who surrounds you determines what you can survive; who surrounds you determines how far you can succeed.

Beloved, do not play with your surrounding because your surrounding determines your success and survival. If you doubt me, ask those who live in snake-infested areas. It is a great thing to be surrounded by people who supply you goodwill because goodwill is stronger than witchcraft.

Remember this”: Who surrounds you determines what you can survive.

1. Disconnect yourself from any relationship that is not adding value to your life and destiny.

2. Surround yourself with quality people.

3. Determine to be a quality person to those who stay around you.
