_DATE: SATURDAY 7TH SEPTEMBER 2019_

*THEME: LIVING FAITH.*

*MEMORISE:*
Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
Ephesians 5:14

*Bible Reading: James 2:17-22*
17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?

22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?

*MESSAGE*
Many years ago, during one of our church services at Ebute-Meta, Lagos, I announced that there will be no prayers on that day, because we were only going to praise God. Incidentally, a woman in a wheelchair had been brought to that service for prayers. When those who brought her asked to see the pastor for prayers, the ushers told them that the pastor had instructed that no one would be prayed for; instead, everyone should dance and praise God. These people felt disappointed, but the woman asked them to help her up and support her as she tried to dance even in her pain. However, before long, she pushed them aside and was dancing without and help- she had been healed! Some people have their miracle right in the front of them, but they never get it because they do not make any move of faith. Our memory verse says God will give you light after you have awoken and are arisen, not before. In other words, you have your role to play in getting whatever God has promised you.

As a lecturer and pastor in Ilorin many year ago, I was so ill one day that I could not go for midweek service that day. I lay in bed and decided that since I couldn’t go to church, I would at least listen to a sermon on radio. As I lay there in pain listening to the radio, it seemed as if the preacher was talking to me directly. He said, “if you are sick and have asked God to heal you, then what are still doing on the bed? If you are still lying in bed, then you don’t believe God has healed you, and you will remain there until you believe.” I immediately got up from the bed and went to church, even though I was still in serious pain. Getting to church, I met the brethren still praising and worshipping God, since I, the pastor, wasn’t around to preach. I stayed at the back and tried my best to dance, even though I was still in pain. Soon, I felt like using the toilet, so I went to the restroom. By the time I was done, all the pain and sickness had gone! Hallelujah!

Are you expecting something from God? Tell Him about it and make a move. If you have faith that is not combined with works, it is deed faith. Make your faith come alive today by moving in the direction of your miracle. Healing is already yours by His stripes; all you have to do is get up and claim it.

*KEY POINT:*
The proof of living faith is the work it produces or action it yields.

*BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:*
1 Kings 7
Ezekiel 46:13-24

*AUTHOR:*
PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE

*HYMN 3: TRUST AND OBEY.*
1. When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will, He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

*Refrain:*
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

2. Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.

3. Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.

4. But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.

5. Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.

[9/7, 5:42 AM] 919063: Today’s SOD – 2019-09-07
TOPIC: DELIVERANCE BY THE PROPHETIC

SCRIPTURE: In those days they shall say no more,”The fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the children’s teeth are set on edge. Jeremiah 31″:29

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: You owe the devil nothing.

Yesterday we commenced a journey of exploring the scriptural bases for deliverance from curses,”and today, we are going to look at another basis for deliverance. A major scriptural basis for deliverance from curses is the prophetic. By virtue of the prophetic, deliverance from curses is mandatory.

Now, the prophets are those who speak into the destiny of God’s people and the prophetic is the declaration of God into the future of His people. So, the prophetic is the declared future for God’s people.

For instance, Ezekiel 18″:20 says,”The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son”: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him,”and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.

God is saying that what your father did cannot affect you. That is to say even if your father was an occult person, armed robber or killer; or your mother was a water priestess or witch; their wickedness shall be upon them only and not you. So, if the devil is looking for the wickedness of your father in order to bring his punishment on you, let him meet your father, even to the grave, and settle with him there because as a child of God, you owe the devil nothing.

In Jeremiah 31″:29,”the Bible says that they shall say no more that the fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the children’s teeth are set on edge. No more!

Beloved, you cannot bear the consequences of your father’s transactions with the devil; you owe the devil nothing.

Remember this”: You owe the devil nothing.

[9/7, 7:27 AM] 919063: A moveable altar

Saturday 7th September 2019

‘Make the altar out of boards and leave the inside hollow.’ Exodus 27:8 NCV

The altar in the tabernacle was a place where sacrifices were offered in worship to God. And God had definite ideas about how it was to be built: ‘Make the altar out of boards and leave the inside hollow’ (Exodus 27:8 NCV). A stone or metal structure would have been heavy to transport, whereas a hollow wooden altar could be carried on poles and travel along with the Israelites.

The image of a moveable altar is a reminder that while you should be part of a local church, you’re not restricted to worshipping God in a particular location. You can do it anywhere by ‘continually offer[ing] up a sacrifice of praise’ (Hebrews 13:15 NAS). At home, on the job, in the supermarket, at the gym, in the classroom, your everyday activities can become a ‘spiritual sacrifice acceptable to God’ (1 Peter 2:5 NAS). By sharing a word of encouragement, helping someone in need, or making a professional decision based on integrity instead of what’s popular, you’re honouring God.

Jesus said, ‘Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in Heaven’ (Matthew 5:16 NIV). One author says: ‘The Lord is my boss. He gives me reviews, critiques, promotions and demotions. He provides my benefit plan and my health insurance. He can transfer me…change my responsibilities…develop all my goals and objectives. I report to him alone…While my tasks change, my essential job doesn’t. I’m instructed to do his work and be his hands and feet in whatever position he assigns me.’
