[9/30, 6:18 AM] 919063: Protect the ‘new shoots’

Sunday 29th September 2019

‘There is hope for a tree.’ Job 14:7 NIV

It takes God’s wisdom to find a mate who can fit where you are and go where you’re going. If you choose to use only your own wisdom, you might not make the best choice. And when a family shatters, the wounds can last a lifetime even though the war is over. Please hear this: never use your children as ammunition to hurt one another! Ammunition doesn’t just destroy the target, it also gets destroyed in the process. Your monologue of bitterness may be true, but it can destroy your child’s ability to build healthy relationships of their own. After all, if they can’t trust a parent, who can they trust? Even if you can’t save the relationship, save them.

Job says, ‘There is hope for a tree: if it is cut down, it will sprout again, and its new shoots will not fail’ (Job 14:7 NIV). How wonderful – new shoots born out of a dead tree! There is life after death! He’s the God of second chances and new beginnings. Just because your dreams didn’t come true doesn’t mean your children’s dreams won’t. If the only thing that comes from your relationship is a healthy, well-adjusted child, you’re still a winner! Solomon says without a vision we perish (see Proverbs 29:18). And your children are your vision. They speak of your future, so give them extra love and stability. Teach them what God says about life. Work at it for their sakes. If the ‘new shoots’ are lost along with the tree, all those years are wasted.

So, protect the ‘new shoots’

*The Signs that Your Mind is Being Renewed*

_Colossians 3:8-1_
_But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of our mouth. Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all._

The major proof that your mind is being renewed by the Word of God is that there is a change or transformation in the way that you see and think about things. You begin to see and think about things the way God sees and thinks about them. Even the way you see yourself changes. As a result, there are certain things that pertain to the way you previously saw or thought about yourself that you will naturally let go of because they are now inconsistent with your new mentality. Certain new things will also enter your life.

You will also treat people differently because your perception about them has changed. Your passions and desires will change. You will begin to have the heart of God and passion for people and for things. The image of Christ will be formed in you and it will be the most controlling factor in your life. You will no longer judge or view yourself by who you are in the physical, but rather, by who you are in Christ.

The Word of God is alive and powerful (Heb.4:12) and these changes and transformations will continue to take place in your life as you continue to desire and meditate on God’s Word (Rom.12:2); especially on the revelation of Christ, 2Cor.3:18 (AMP). The Word of God is Spirit and life, John 6:63. It carries the very life of God in it and the Spirit of God works with His Word to make it flesh (come alive) in you. Jesus is the Word of God, John 1 :1 & 14. Keep your focus on Jesus.

Prayer:
I thank You Heavenly Father, for the transformation that is taking place in my life as I renew my mind by the revelations of Christ.

[9/30, 6:18 AM] 919063: WISDOM FOR THE DAY
Sunday, 29th September, 2019

TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR LIFE

“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success”
Joshua 1:8 KJV

Today, we have a clientele of believers who are not committed to anything spiritual. They are not ready to pay any price but they want results. All they are interested in is to say ‘Pastor, please pray for me’ and off they go. It doesn’t work out like that, because like I would always say, God will not do for you what you can do for yourself. You must be ready to take responsibility for your own life.

For instance, in Joshua 1:1-4, Joshua had just been appointed by God to take over from Moses who was already dead. The responsibility to take the people to the Promised Land fell squarely on his shoulders. If Joshua was to ever fulfil destiny, he needed to carry out the mandate according to God’s standards. The Kingdom assignment was of utmost importance and he could not afford to fail. And if he was to ever succeed in his assignment, he had no choice than to connect with the God of the assignment. He knew he had to pray. That’s taking responsibility.

However, prayer was not all he did. He also had to follow God’s principles. God gave him a template for good success. The instruction was very clear. The scriptures say in Joshua 1:8, ”This book of the law shall not depart from thy mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written therein, for then you shall make thy way prosperous and you shall have good success.” In other words, until you stay in the Word, you cannot have good success. As you take responsibility, I declare that the grace of God will uphold you, open doors for you and make a way for you even where there seems to be no way.

[9/30, 6:18 AM] 919063: Today’s SOD – 2019-09-30
TOPIC: LIVING BEYOND THE PAST

SCRIPTURE: …but this one thing I do,”forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3″:13-14

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: You are at your best when you do not allow your history to become your misery.

Sometime ago,”a man by the name William Carey worked for eight years translating the Bible into different Indian languages. After so much labour in that endeavour, the printing press caught fire and his translations got burnt; everything disappeared overnight. People expected him to cry. They asked him what he was going to do after such a disaster. He said that the fire has done two things to him”: first,”the fire has burnt off the interpretations that were wrong, and second, the fire has also given him and his team the wide publicity they would not have gotten.

He worked at it again and came up with better translations within a shorter period of time because he refused to allow a setback to become his grave yard. He operated at his best because he decided to live beyond his past.

Beloved, you are at your best when you live beyond your past, when you do not allow your past to tie you down.

Daniel was a slave in a strange land but he did not allow his slavery to tamper with his destiny (Daniel 1″:1-6). You are at your best when you do not allow your history to become your misery.

In addition,”Daniel was a man who lived the life of purpose. He refused to live an aimless life. He also decided to take a stand with God both publicly and privately.

Beloved, determine to uphold these principles and no devil can stop you from living at your best, in Jesus’ Name.

Remember this”: You are at your best when you do not allow your history to become your misery.

ASSIGNMENT(S):

1. Reach out to anyone who offended you in the past and forgive them; you can call them up on phone if necessary.

2. Let go of your past mistakes or errors.

3. Make up your mind to fulfil your destiny despite your past or background.
