And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
Ephesians 6:4

*Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 8:1-5*
1And it came to pass, when Samuel was old, that he made his sons judges over Israel.

2 Now the name of his firstborn was Joel; and the name of his second, Abiah: they were judges in Beersheba.

3 And his sons walked not in his ways, but turned aside after lucre, and took bribes, and perverted judgment.

4 Then all the elders of Israel gathered themselves together, and came to Samuel unto Ramah,

5 And said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.

The Bible says children are the heritage of the Lord and the fruit of the womb is His reward (Psalm 127:3). In other words, God is the owner of children, and He gives them to whoever He pleases. Whenever God counts an individual worthy to have custody of His possession, the fellow should be careful of what he or she does with it. For this reason, through His word, God teaches us how to handle children as precious seeds kept in our care. One of His teachings on this all-important subject matter is found in our memory verse, where the Lord says we must train our children in his ways, not according to any other system.

Today’s Bible reading reveals the danger of not taking godly care of our children. As upright as Samuel was, he failed in the area of bringing up his children in the ways of the Lord. Concerning his sons, 1 Samuel 8:3 says:

“And his sons walked not in his ways, but turned aside after lucre, and took bribes, and perverted judgment.”

The surprising aspect of this story is that Samuel witnessed how Eli and his household were cut off because Eli did not nurture his children in the ways of the Lord. Beloved, it is better a person does not bear a child than to have child and fail to take godly care of him or her. Eli’s example shows that a heavy price accompanies failure in this regard.

The story was told of a mother who immersed himself into training her son to succeed academically and career-wise, but she neglected training in the fear of God and did not expose him to spiritual activities that could connect him to God. Meanwhile, the son progressed at school, graduated with good grades, and eventually got a good job in the city. Having tasted life in the city, he forgot his roots and did not keep in touch with his mother. One day, his mother decided to visit him his mother. One day, his mother decided to visit him I the city, having missed her son for a long time. When she got to her son’s house, she met the gate securely locked. She knocked for a long while before her son managed to open the window of his front room, and behold, it was his mother sweating in the African sun. “Mum, you did not tell me you were coming!” the young man yelled. He then threw a wad of cash at her and told her to go back to the village. This woman wept bitterly. How sad! This is what the wages f nursing a child for ourselves and not for God looks like. I pray that this will not be your portion that this will not be your portion as a parent in Jesus’ Name.

Align the way you are bringing up your children with the principles of God’s

SCRIPTURE: That ye be not slothful,”but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises. Hebrews 6″:12

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Whose footsteps you follow determines the outcome you experience in life.

A search through the Bible confirms that the Word of God reveals the pathway to the blessing in many ways. One of such pathways to the blessing is following the footsteps of the blessed. The Bible shows us the steps of the blessed which we can follow and experience the same blessed outcome.

The Scripture shows us men and women who inherited the promises; it shows us people who were faithful to God,”people who served God faithfully and could not end empty-handedly. It reveals people who were loaded with the blessing, and what they did to attract the blessing, so that if we identify and follow their footsteps, we can also have their results.

For instance, the Bible shows us how Abraham who was a nonentity later turned into a celebrity, and the things he did to trigger such a drastic turnaround in his life. It shows us the life of Isaac, how he followed the footsteps of his father Abraham by obeying the instructions of God, and what became of him, etc.

And the Bible says, So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham (Galatians 3″:9). So,”if we follow the footsteps of Abraham and other great men in the Scripture or on the earth in contemporary times, we will also have their results.

Beloved, as God’s servant, Bishop David Oyedepo said, “You cannot follow the footsteps of giants and end as a dwarf.” Whose footsteps you follow determines the outcome you experience in life.

Remember this”: Whose footsteps you follow determines the outcome you experience in life.

1. Look out for the action steps to follow in every story of great men in the Scripture.

2. Take the action steps,”follow their footsteps, and expect their results.

3. Align your mentality with that of great men in Scripture and great children of God in our days.

PRAYER: Lord,”give me the grace to uphold the principles of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and other great men of faith. Let me experience their results, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

[7/8, 6:23 AM] 919063: Understanding your desires (3)

Monday 8th July 2019

‘Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good.’ Psalm 34:8 NKJV

When the Bible tells you what you ought to do, you can take it in two different ways: the ought of obligation or the ought of opportunity. The first kind refers to your duty: you ought to pay your taxes; you ought to keep your dog on a lead; you ought to take your driver’s test. The second kind gives you life: you ought to take a break; you ought to see the world; you ought to taste this cake.

The ‘oughts’ of Jesus’ message are mainly the oughts of opportunity. And as you become more aware of this, you may start feeling guilty because your desire for God doesn’t run deep enough. The problem is, you can’t make yourself desire God more by simply telling yourself you should. But he is so gracious and patient in wanting you to want him, that he is willing to work with this kind of honesty. That’s why his Word says, ‘Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good’ (Psalm 34:8 NKJV). The word ‘taste’ is an invitation from a confident chef. You don’t have to commit to eating the whole enchilada; just try a taste and if you don’t like it you can skip the rest. The chef is convinced if he can just get you to take that first bite, you’re going to want the whole thing.

The truth is that the more you read God’s Word and pray, the more rewarding it becomes and the more you are drawn to it. Yes, it begins as a discipline. But when you stick with it, it becomes a delight.

Flying Lessons
by Heather Tietz

Don’t judge, and you won’t be judged. Don’t condemn, and you won’t be condemned. Set free, and you will be set free.

Luke 6:37
An eagle mother decided one day that her eaglets were big enough to fly.

They’d been hopping around the nest for weeks. Now it was time to see what their wings could do. She hovered above them for a moment, then plopped down on the nest and shoved one baby off.

The young bird plummeted down, only to be rescued by mamma a moment later when she swooped beneath and caught him on her back.

“This is a bad game,” thought the eaglet.

Next, the mamma eagle pushed the sibling off the nest and again swooped down to rescue it.

Below mother wolf watched. “That mamma is crazy,” she thought.

“What a monster!” said a dumbstruck snake.

The mamma eagle flew back to her nest and began picking the feathers out, then the supportive sticks and twigs. Finally, all of it was reduced to scraps. Her eaglets had nowhere to sit safely.

Tottering on the edge of the mighty pine, both eaglets leaped off and took to the sky. Mamma Eagle proudly watched. Her flying lesson was a success!

The perspective from the ground is a narrow one. Our judgments of people will always be inaccurate. Only God has a true bird’s eye view of life.

Only He has a right to judge.

Dear Father,
I praise You for fully knowing me and yet fully loving me.
Help me to be humble in my view of others and extend grace when I see behaviors that appear wrong.
In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

[7/8, 6:38 AM] 919063: WISDOM FOR THE DAY
Monday, 8th July, 2019

“Then took Haman the apparel and the horse, and arrayed Mordecai, and brought him on horseback through the street of the city, and proclaimed before him, Thus shall it be done unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour.”
Esther 6:11 KJV

In the book of Esther chapter 5, a man by the name Haman was upset with Mordecai. Haman was the number-two man in command in that kingdom, yet he was upset with Mordecai because Mordecai refused to bow to him. He vowed to wipe him off with the entire Jewish race; so that there would be no remembrance of them again.

When he got home angry, dejected and frustrated, he told his wife how Mordecai would not bow to him. His wife advised him to prepare gallows to hang Mordecai. He took his wife’s advice and all hell broke loose against Mordecai and the entire Jews. But when you get to chapter 6, you will discover that when all the plots had been perfected; that night God was in a conference to ensure that Mordecai must be honoured.

I declare that your day of honour has come. This is your period of elevation! This is your time of breakthrough! This is your season of open heaven. Your land will produce!  Your heaven will never be shut!  Your years of mourning and frustration are over. This is your year of testimonies. Whatever the devil has packaged will never stand. You will not be a failure! You will not be a disappointment and you will not be frustrated. You will be celebrated.

No more delays in your life! No more postponement in your life!  In the same place of defeat, there shall be victory. In the same place of defeat, there shall be breakthrough. In the same place of defeat, there shall be open heaven encounter. In the same place of defeat, you are returning with testimony. You are returning with breakthrough and open doors. You are returning with promotion! You are returning with open heaven. In the same place where you were despised and ridiculed, I see great and mighty things happening in your life in the name of Jesus.
