[10/27, 6:24 AM] 919063: *DAILY MANNA*
*SUNDAY, OCTOBER 27 2019*
*NO MATTER HOW LONG*
*TEXT:* JOHN 5:1-16.
_*🔑KEY VERSE* “And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years. When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he said unto him, Will thou be made whole?” (JOHN 5:5,6)._
The sorrow and anguish an incurable health condition could impose upon anyone is unimaginable. Consider the blind attempting to cross the road without a guide or the lame picking his way on a flooded pathway. Better imagined than experienced.
Many believers who desire to be healed or delivered from whatever type of ailment erroneously think that delay could mean denial but that man in today’s text had been in his obviously terrible conditions for thirty eight years. Though he was not waiting for the Lord Jesus, he would not have received the miracle of Christ if he had since gone home out of frustration. No doubt, he had experienced a prolonged and painful disappointment.
It is obvious that the length of time of the impotent man’s suffering moved Jesus to such instant pity and compassion “When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case…” (v 6). Healing on the sabbath caused Jesus the wrath of the Jewish religious leaders. His claim of equality with God, earned Him their charge of blasphemy and a death sentence. Jesus was now on a collision course with the religious authorities.
Jesus wanted them to be saved (v 34) but while this was His desire, the religious leaders would have nothing to do with His offer of salvation. Today, many people do not believe that Jesus is the Son of God. And so they, regrettably, choose to remain in their sin. Don’t be one of them. To receive divine touch on any long-standing problem, you must be patient and ensure you get rid of sin from your life.
*✍THOUGHT FOR THE DAY* It takes patience to fully reap God’s blessing.
*COVER TO COVER* JEREMIAH 15-18.
Miracle of mercy
*1. Why didn’t Jesus heal all the sick at the pool?* vv3,4.
a. They were operating under the Old covenant healing covenant which they all broke Exodus 23:22,25b. None was qualified. The same reason why healings in OT was scanty and the only leper healed, apart from Miriam, was Namaan a Gentile. All can now get healed today because of the better new testament and the sacrifice of Jesus. Observe there was a reason he was selected for healing and not that he was qualified v6.
*2. Why did Jesus ask the man if he needed healing?* v6.
a. Not all the sick desires healing. Some enjoy begging and sympathy rather than healing. For example, others by the pool saw or heard about the healing and non was recorded to have ran to Jesus for healing apart from this man v9,13. Not all who attend a healing crusade strongly desires healings.
b. Jesus would not impose His will on any. He wanted people to seek Him first v13,14. We are created as free human agents.
c. What other reason did you think made Jesus to ask him if he wanted healing.
*3. Why did the religious leader wanted to kill Jesus after this great miracle of mercy?* vv10,16.
The superficial reason was that it was on a sabbath day vv10,16. However, the true reason was envy and fear of loosing followership.
The law does not forbid miracles on sabbath except if they wanted to accuse the God who did the miracle of breaking His law.
*L* There is no good you did that some will not speak evil of. Be content with pleasing God.
*4. You can receive the miracle of mercy in sin, but you cannot retain it in sin* v14.
*HYMN* The great Physician is here
The Great Physician now is near,
The sympathizing Jesus;
He speaks the drooping heart to cheer,
Oh, hear the voice of Jesus!
Sweetest note in seraph song;
Sweetest name on mortal tongue;
Sweetest carol ever sung:
Jesus, blessed Jesus!
Your many sins are all forgiv’n,
Oh, hear the voice of Jesus;
The veil ’twixt you and God is riven,
Redemption wrought by Jesus.
All glory to the dying Lamb!
I now believe in Jesus;
I love the blessed Savior’s name,
I love the name of Jesus.
His name dispels my guilt and fear,
No other name but Jesus;
Oh, how my soul delights to hear
The precious name of Jesus!
1. Praise the Lord for His sacrifice that makes miracles of mercy free for all.
2. Promise God and pray that God will not allow you to take His grace and mercy for granted and descend into carelessness and disobedience.
3. Lord, Is there any blessing I have gotten by mercy and lost through sin? Lord, restore back in mercy.
4. Pray for divine visitation of blessings of mercy and grace to all in the service today.
[10/27, 6:24 AM] 919063: Shout for joy today!
Sunday 27th October 2019
‘He sent out his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave.’ Psalm 107:20 NIV
Each of us comes to the Lord in need of restoration. So he begins a renovation programme to repair our thoughts about him, about others and about ourselves. While you may look good on the outside, there’s a constant hammering and sawing going on inside, as the Holy Spirit works to meet a deadline and make us an ‘instrument for noble purposes’ (2 Timothy 2:21 NIV). And one of the tools he uses is ‘the foolishness of the message preached’ (1 Corinthians 1:21 NKJV).
Whatever you do, never lose your appetite for Bible preaching: ‘Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God’ (Romans 10:17 NKJV). It boggles the unregenerate mind to watch the preached word transform the most dysfunctional people into productive members of society. And most of the time God does all this while maintaining a veil of secrecy that protects our reputation and public perception. How gracious! Can you imagine how shocked people would be if they really knew the shape we were in when God found us? Only his power could have forced open the snare that had entrapped our minds and set us free to live again.
David declared, ‘He sent out his Word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave… give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love’ (Psalm 107:20-21 NIV). His Word provides cleansing for our shame, makes us righteous and gives us a roadmap to our destiny. Because of him, you matter. Because of him, you have nothing to fear. If anybody has a right to shout for joy today – it’s you!

TOPIC: GIVE IT A DATE
SCRIPTURE: To everything there is a season,”and a time to every purpose under the heaven. Ecclesiastes 3″:1
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Whatever does not have a date is not permitted to come to pass
Some years ago,”while I was in courtship with my wife, we visited my mother and she called me aside and asked, ‘My son, when are you both thinking of settling down; when is the wedding?’ I told her, I wasn’t sure yet. Then, she looked at me and said, ‘Give it a date; whatever does not have a date is not permitted to come to pass.’ Incredible! That statement hit me like a bomb.
Get this”: Vision alone is not enough; purpose or pursuit is not enough. It is when vision is married to timing that it delivers achievement.
Beloved,”there must be a specific time or date allocated to every agenda or purpose on the earth; not to do that is an invitation to frustrations and regrets. Give a wedding date to that courtship; give that business plan a date for its commencement; give that desire to go back to school a date, etc. It is when you give it a date that God will know that you are serious. When you have given it a date, God will supply all you need to make that dream or vision a reality.
REMEMBER THIS”: Whatever does not have a date is not permitted to come to pass
1. Refuse to live your life to chance or at random
2. Prayerfully give that project in your hands a date
3. Take action steps to see it come to pass
PRAYER: Lord,”I refuse to live an aimless life. Help me not to miss the allocated time or date assigned for the fulfillment of every vision You have placed in my heart. Cause the date I have given to the events of my life to come to pass, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
