*Grace to go through times of Contradictions 2*

_Matthew 11:7, 9-11 & 15 (NIV)_
_As John’s disciples were leaving, Jesus began to speak to the crowd about John: A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. This is the one about whom it is written: “‘I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way before you.’ Truly I tell you, among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet whoever is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he…* And if you are willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who was to come. Whoever has ears, let them hear._

When John the Baptist was going through his time of contradiction, he sent a message to Jesus to ask Jesus if He was really the Messiah. He must have felt that he might have made a mistake in pointing Jesus out as the Messiah. After Jesus sent a reply back to John the Baptist, Jesus began talking about him. Jesus said things about John the Baptist that John himself might not have known. Jesus said John the Baptist was more than a prophet, the one who prepared the way for the Messiah, the greatest man that had ever lived at that time and that he was the Elijah that was to come. Can you imagine such wonderful words coming from Jesus Himself? If John the Baptist knew all this, maybe he would have been focusing on the blessings and rewards that God had for him and he would have been rejoicing and thanking God for helping him succeed and fulfil his ministry.

When we are going through times of contradictions, one of the greatest temptations we face is to doubt ourselves. Both the devil and people around us may attempt to capitalize on the contradictions we are facing to lie to us and make us feel like failures and nonentities. The Bible says of Jesus that when He was suffering and dying for our sake, we thought He was being punished and afflicted by God for his own wrong doings, Isa.53:4. Just like Joseph, there will be many things that you may go through that will look like God is punishing you or there is something wrong with you. God wants you to keep the faith. Do not be offended at God or at yourself. Never allow what it looks like to make you feel down and give up. Keep your eyes on God and allow Him to continually strengthen you. Allow the way that God sees you to strengthen and keep you.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I pray for myself and for everyone going through a time of contradiction. Give us the grace to see ourselves the way you see us.

[8/29, 7:15 AM] Faith Oshevire: LIFE AND FAVOUR
Rev. Anthony Akinmoyo

Prayer is not only a means to get things done, but is also for spiritual empowerment that will put us in command of the affairs of life.

Luke 4:14 (KJV) *And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.*

Jesus returned from the mountain of prayer in the power of the Spirit and His fame spread through all the region. Prayer is about taking command and being in charge. When you are empowered, you determine the happenings around your life. Beloved, we all need to be empowered in order to dislodge whatever or whoever might be resisting us from entering into our inheritance in Christ Jesus.

Joshua 18:2-3 (KJV) *And there remained among the children of Israel seven tribes, which had not yet received their inheritance.*
*And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the LORD God of your fathers hath given you?*

If you are slacking in prayer you might not be able to access your portion. Joshua asked in the above scripture saying, “how long are ye slack to go and possess the land which the Lord has given to you”. If you take a thorough study of this scripture, you will discover that seven out of twelve tribes have not yet received their inheritance because they were yet to take up responsibility. The same is happening in our time. Many are in the kingdom but yet to be radiating the glory and beauty of the kingdom because of lack of spiritual empowerment to charge through in order to lay hold of their inheritance in Christ Jesus.

Isaiah 5:29 (KJV) *Their roaring shall be like a lion, they shall roar like young lions: yea, they shall roar, and lay hold of the prey, and shall carry it away safe, and none shall deliver it.*

I see you being empowered supernaturally via prayer in the mighty name of Jesus!

*Text: “Give them according to their deeds…Because they regard not the works of the Lord, nor the operation of his hands, he shall destroy them and not build them up.” Ps 28:4-5*

We are called to a life of faith. One attribute of that life is that we see God in everything and we keep our focus on him by all means. God wants us to continually regard the work of his hands. The ability to see God at work at all times is crucial to your sustenance in life. Its always easier to see what is not working, what is not enough and what is wrong. It takes faith to see what is working and what is right in every situation.
Life is in phases and stages, so also the blessings of God come in phases. We must learn to appreciate God for whatever phase of his blessings we find ourselves. I want you to recognise these two things:

*1. What is happening in your life right now may be small and insignificant but we must recognise the hand of God in it.* If you look down on things that look small, then you have despised God. In most cases God will initially give us something small that he will eventually give us plenty of it. If we don’t acknowledge and appreciate him for the little, then we disqualify ourselves for the increase.

*2. Comparing what God is doing in your life with what he is doing in the life of others might make you to despise the acts of God in your life.* There is no basis for comparison. God’s program for our lives different and unique to us. You will find a lot of rest and confidence in God if you understand this. When we see what God has done for others our attitude should be thanksgiving; knowing that he’s at work in our lives too.
Watch your life closely and don’t despise God.

Father thank you for where we are today. Thank you for all that you have done in our lives.
